Bellatrix left the street, and that homely man Logan, for the refreshing atmosphere of Borgin & Burkes. It was dark in here, and quite dusty. The few other patrons that occupied the room kept to themselves, and shifted out of the way when someone neared them, as if they would be burned by human contact. She moved around the store, half looking for the necessary items, half to see the frail old witch scurry away from her.

Claudia strode with a purpose through Knockturn Alley, and finally into Borgin & Burkes. She was looking for some sort of charm or spell that would help her as she gathered corpses for the Dark Lord. Considering the number he required, she knew she needed to work faster and to make sure that the bodies remained fresh as long as possible. Walking into the store, she went right towards the shelves, nearly running into a young woman as she went. "Watch where you're going, girl," she snapped.

Bellatrix spun around, having been almost trampled by the blonde, and sneered. "Perhaps you should watch where your huge feet are taking you!" She eyed the woman for a second, then, remembering what Lucius had told her, turned back to the shelves she was looking over.

"My huge feet?" Claudia retorted, glaring at the girl. She noticed as the girl turned away and began looking on the shelves. "You're that new girl, aren't you? The one from the meeting. How exactly did you manage to get that special little mission, while I'm stuck digging up corpses? What is this important job the Dark Lord has given you?"

"Yeah, I'm the new girl." Bella turned her head slightly to look over the woman. "My name's Bellatrix. And you're Claudia, right? Lucius tells me the Dark Wizard favors you...I don't expect that to last long." Claudia didn't need to know the details of her task, if she wanted to know she could simply ask the Dark Lord himself.

"He doesn't favor me," Claudia said angrily. "He orders me to dig up corpses, instead of using me to my full potential. And yet I do it, hoping for just a drop of praise and a chance at a better project. I would do anything for him, anything to prove my loyalty and usefulness to his cause. You are young and fickle. How can he know that you'll have the resolve to finish what you start?"

Bella put her hands on her hips in a haughty manner and smirked at the woman. "Perhaps he's set you to digging up corpses because he knows you've no greater skills to offer." The woman's anger elated Bellatrix, and it showed on her face. "I do hope you are not questioning our Lord's decisions or thoughts. It would be so terrible if he were to find out you don't trust him." She raised her eyebrows defiantly, then turned back to the shelves.

Claudia's eyes flashed with outrage. "I am good at many things, and he trusted me to gather corpses because the job is important to him!" she hissed. She wanted to hex the girl--or better yet, demonstrate her skill with the Cruciatus Curse--but she knew this was hardly the place. The Dark Lord would not appreciate her creating a public scene. She gave the girl a shove. "I trust him completely. It is you I do not trust, child."

Bellatrix was shoved hard and it took a moment to get her bearings once again, but when she did she glared at Claudia, her eyes full of spite. "Good," she said in a low voice. "I don't have a need for your trust." Bella couldn't fathom having to actually work with Claudia, and as long as they both stayed out of each other's ways, they would be fine. But Claudia was pushing it.

Claudia sneered at the girl. "And I don't need to deal with you. Amateur." She abruptly turned and walked toward the door. "I strongly suggest that you don't cross me, girl. I could make your life a living hell." Tossing her head proudly, she stormed out of the dirty little shop and out into the street.

Bella began to shout something back to her but had no real comeback, mostly due to the fact that she was quite sure Claudia would make good on her threat. She thrusted her hands into her pockets and began to walk out of the shop as well, then remembered why she had come in in the first place. Moving through the store in a much less pleasant demeanor than when she had entered it, she gathered up the necessary items and paid for them at the counter. She carried two large bags out with her as she left the shop.
