Bellatrix apparated to Diagon Alley, the first place she thought to find large crowds where a new mother might be found. She scanned the hordes of shoppers looking, hoping, to find someone to appease the Dark Lord. She moved up the street, away from Gringotts towards the barrier that lead to the Leaky Cauldron. She found lots of women with children, but none of them young enough to still be fed by their mum. Usually there was always a pregnant whale of a woman about, whining about her swollen feet or shouting at her husband for no apparent reason, but today it seemed they were all staying inside.
Bella started to get annoyed, and worried that she would let down her master. A group of young children ran past, dodging the feet of unsuspecting shoppers. A small boy, about four years old, ran smack into Bella's legs, falling backwards from the impact.
"Trevor! Thomas! Terrance!" A tired looking woman only a few years older than Bellatrix panted as she pushed through the crowds after the running boys. She carried a young infant with her, wrapped in blue blankets with a matching cap on it's head. The baby disgusted Bella - it was very red and still wrinkly. It looked more like a baboon's bum than a child. The woman reached the boy who had ran into Bella, and was laying on his back whimpering about a tiny scratch on his knee. "I'm so sorry," the woman sighed to Bellatrix.
Adopting a warm smile Bellatrix shook her head. "Boys will be boys." Bella helped the young lad up, since the woman had her hands full with the infant and Bella wanted to get a few details from her. The boy instantly stopped his crying and ran off after his brothers, disappearing into the crowd. "What an adorable child," Bella cooed, making kissey faces at the infant. "How old?"
"Two months," the woman answered proudly.
"Really? How delightful. My fiancee and I were discussing starting our own family," she lied. "And since both our mothers have passed, I've no one to talk to. Would you mind if I picked your brain for just a minute?" Bellatrix was quite capable of pleasant conversation, having grown up in a very social household. The woman was easily persuaded and once Bellatrix promised to help gather the rest of her children the two set off down the street. "Oh, I just saw your little boy turn down here," Bella said, pointing to a shadowy side alley filled with dumpsters.
The woman led the way into the alley and looked about for her son, who was no where to be found. Bella drew her wand as the woman's back was to her. "Imperio!" Bellatrix approached the woman slowly, hoping she was successful in her attempt to control the woman. "Set the baby in the bin." The woman turned to the dumpster beside her and left the infant among the scraps and rubbish. "Brilliant. Let's go." The two women disapparated, leaving just as the child began to scream.
