Getting the box

[Athena "V" Smith-Calloway]

V walked into the bank, with Alastor right behind her. She walked up to the first available goblin and leaned against the counter. "We're here to see Olivia St. Clare's safe deposit box," she said. "This is her brother."

[Alastor Domino]

"Alastor Domino." Alastor said to make it clear.

[Athena "V" Smith-Calloway]

The goblin squinted at Alastor. "You got any proof that you are who you say you are? Apparition licence or some kind of Ministry ID?"

[Alastor Domino]

"Apparition License." Alastor said pulling it out of his wallet. He showed it to the goblin.

[Athena "V" Smith-Calloway]

The goblin squinted at it, then at Alastor. "OK. Be right back." He jumped down and hurried down to one of the underground caverns.

[Alastor Domino]

"Do they always do that?" Alastor asked her a little peturbed.

[Athena "V" Smith-Calloway]

"What? Look at you like that? Yeah, well, when I tried to get the box, they really gave me some nasty looks. This was nothing. Of course, I probably shouldn't have been trying to get the box in the first place...." she admitted, a little embarassed.

[Alastor Domino]

"Why were you trying to get it?" Alastor asked with a raised eyebrow right before the goblin came back.

[Athena "V" Smith-Calloway]

"I'll explain later," V replied as the goblin walked up to them. He handed Alastor the box. "You do have the key, right?" he said.

[Alastor Domino]

"I don't. My sister never had the chance to give it to me. But I assume you have a spare?" Alastor said.

[Athena "V" Smith-Calloway]

"There is no spare," the goblin said. He started to take the box back, but V said, "I have the key. Olivia gave it to me before she died. I loaned it to Wesley [Olivia's husband and the girls' father] and he gave it back to me just before he died. He said to give it to you, but he didn't tell me where to find you." She handed him the key.

[Alastor Domino]

"Okay." Alastor said taking the key from her. "Now, we'd like to go somewhere where we won't be disturbed in here." He said to the goblin.

[Athena "V" Smith-Calloway]

"Right this way," the goblin said, walking towards a small back room with a sofa and some tables. Then he walked away quickly.

V looked at the box. "OK," she said. "So let's open it."

[Alastor Domino]

"Let's see what this holds." Alastor said as he unlocked the box and opened it.

[Athena "V" Smith-Calloway]

Inside the box was a small leather bound journal and a bunch of stray papers. V reached in and took out the papers. One of them was a note signed by Wesley St. Clare. She read it out loud to Alastor.

"Alastor, if you are reading this, that means they got to me too. Like Olivia, I've been gathering information about Erasmus Craven. It's almost enough to prove that he's made a deal with Voldemort and has been stealing money from the Ministry to support Voldemort's activities. These papers and Olivia's journal should help you get started. Please be careful. I know he killed Olivia, although I can't prove it. And if you're reading this note, that means he killed me, too. I can only hope you'll have better luck, since you're working outside the Ministry.

V handed Alastor the note. "Well, I guess we should go through all this stuff," she said.

[Alastor Domino]

"Why don't we go to somewhere more secluded in case someone does try and watch us." Alastor suggested a little worried about what he had just read.

[Athena "V" Smith-Calloway]

"OK, good idea," V said. "I have a room in the Leaky Cauldron, but if you know a place that's anymore private, that might be better."

[Alastor Domino]

"That would probably be the best place. Anyways I can't think of any other places." Alastor said locking the box back up.

[Athena "V" Smith-Calloway]

"OK, then," she said, standing up. "Let's go."

[Alastor Domino]

Alastor followed her out of the bank and to her room.
