Skye felt very heavy, as though something was pressing her down against the bed. She couldn't move at all. Yet she could hear voices all around her, the voices of her friends. Although she hurt all over, it felt good to know that she had so many people around her who cared about her. She hadn't felt that in a long time; at least since Pearl had left the pack. She wanted to speak, to say she was OK, but she couldn't. The only sound she was able to make was a small, pathetic whisper...

Zander stood back and watched, not saying anything. He had worried for Skye from the beginning. She seemed fragile to him, like a doll made of glass. Yet he suspected that she had a strength about her that she was not aware of. He hoped that now that she was with a pack that could help her and work with her, instead of being forgotten and ignored, she would begin to learn of her own strength.
He sighed. He was going to have to check in with Emily at the Hog's Head soon. But he didn't want to go until he was sure Skye was going to be OK.

David walked into the Hospital Wing with Dragos behind him. He walked up to Zander, who was standing back from the others. "How is she?" he asked in a low voice.

Skye heard David's voice and opened her eyes very slightly. "David?" she managed to whisper weakly. "Pearl? Where... am I?" She began to reach her hand out, longing for one of her friends to hold it and assure her she was going to be OK.

Dragos had walked in behind David and watched Skye as she began to wake up. He was strangely very concerned about her for only having knowed her for a short amount of time. He felt a strange direct connection to all of the wolves- or colleagues, should he say- that he had just assisted in the battle. But instead of saying anything, he decided to keep quiet and let David and Pearl- who seemed to be Skye's closer friends- be there to comfort her first.

David looked in Syke's direction and walked over to her, taking her hand. "You're at the school in the hospital wing," he said. "How are you feeling?"

Skye let out a soft groan. "Pretty sore," she whispered. She turned her head ever so slightly, trying to see around the room. "I don't like it here."

"It's okay here Syke. It's safe, and a place where someone helps you get better," said David. "I imagine that you are still pretty sore, but it's going to be okay. The nurse here is going to take good care of you."

Skye shook her head. "No air... can't breathe here..."

David looked at her with pity. "I know you're inside and rather be out, but Fenrir can find you a lot easier if you're out there, and I, well, we can't have you die."

A tear leaked out of her eye and slid down the side of her face. "How did things get like this? Why? Why is Fenrir doing this?" she whispered. Even though she didn't know who had turned her, she had always thought of Fenrir as her father, just like many others in the pack. How could he betray them this way? She just couldn't understand.

David reached over and wiped away her tears. "He's teamed up with Voldemort, the Snake-Man. He's been telling Fenrir things, and Fenrir's been attacking, that's all I know and that's the only way I can explain it."

"It's wrong," Skye said quietly. She winced as the stabbing pain shot through her shoulder again. Then closing her eyes, she murmured, "so sleepy..."

Madam Pomfrey stepped out from the back room, and, seeing that Skye was awake, hurried over to check her out. After a few minutes, she finally said, "Yes, she'll be fine. She should stay overnight, at least, but she should be able to leave soon."

Skye shook her head. "No.... no, I don't want to stay. Please don't make me?" She gripped on to David's hand and looked up at him pleadingly. She was so tired, and she ached all over... but most of all, she needed to breathe. She couldn't breathe in here. The air was so close and stale and smelled of dust and strange chemicals she couldn't understand. "Please..." she whispered. "I need air..."

Karl stood back and watched Skye worriedly. He knew how she felt about staying indoors, and about strange places. And this place did have a funny smell to it. But he didn't mind it so much. It did smell unnatural, and there were traces of pain and fear, he could also sense something healing in the air. This was a good place, it was safe. Maybe if Skye could see outside she wouldn't fear it so badly. "Um, maybe... maybe she could have that bed there. Next to the window. So she can see outside and smell the fresh air?" He looked at the nurse lady hopefully. He wanted Skye to get better, but he wanted her to be comfortable, too.

Madam Pomfrey looked over at the window where Karl had pointed. Then she looked back down at Skye, who was in tears. "I think we can do that," she said soothingly. "Will that be acceptable to you, dear? Would you like to be next to the window? We can open it to let some air in for you. Please understand, dear, you're not a prisoner. We're just trying to help you get well again. Is that OK?"

Skye looked over at the window for a moment, a tear leaking from her eye. "O... OK," she replied softly. She really was so tired and she wanted to rest. And the bed was comfortable enough. She just needed air. She needed to be able to see the trees and feel the wind against her face. The window would help. It still wasn't what she wanted, but she was too tired and hurt to fight it. "I'll stay," she sighed, closing her eyes.

"OK, dear," Madam Pomfrey said. "We'll move you over by the window, then." She smiled at the girl and motioned for the others to clear out of the way. "Hold still just a moment, and I'll levitate you over there. Wingardium Leviosa!" She pointed her wand at Skye, who floated up and over to the bed by the window. Then she hurried over to make sure she was tucked in comfortably.
