He laughed, "I was actually asking you to keep up on the dance floor, I already know you can keep up at the bar." he offered her his hand, but waited a moment to let the drink affect her.
His eyes danced with delight, it was a carefree moment.

She grinned at him. "You're going to have to be more specific, Nik. I've already had a few drinks today." She laughed at her ignorance and hadn't even noticed that she relaxed enough to once again refer to him by his nickname.
She took his hand and slid from the barstool.

"Easy love." he said taking her hand in his and securing her arm beneath his own, "This place is intoxicating all on its own." he warned.
She wouldn't need alcohol to let loose here. The crowd was a strange mix of passion and wild abandonment, and yet no one was sloppy or incapable.

The corners of Lyra's mouth quirked upwards as he took her arm and guided her through the crowd. She studied the faces as they passed and felt herself being drawn to each of them in some way. The tall, dark man in a suit. The thin, redheaded woman in a black dress. The attractive couple who were pressed up against each other on the dance floor. Lyra wanted all of them.

He led her to the dance floor and gave a small grin as his hand ghosted the small of her back before pulling her tightly against him as the first beat of the song hit sharply in tune with the strings.

Lyra felt a shiver run down her spine as Nicolas touched her and she looked up into his eyes, her lips parting slightly. She moved with him to the music, allowing her body to melt against at times when he pulled her close. Her skin tingled as the music played and she caught sight of the other dancers; beautiful and elegant in their sultry forms. She looked back at Nik, wondering for a second why he had brought her here before the thought slipped from her mind and she was engulfed by the intoxicating environment.

Nik's world was full of structure, proper behavior, eyes on him at all times. He was a respectable man, some might even say he was 'too perfect'. But that perfection could weigh on a soul. When he needed to get away, when he needed to be free, this was one of the places he ran away to. He left everything on the dance floor and lost himself in the wine and women.
He had shared the experience with Sam, who had taken to it all too easily. She was more than a natural on the dance floor and off of it. The veela blood in her veins drew others in like a lode stone, and there were times he had regretted bringing her there, but Lyra, this was exactly what she needed.

Lyra arched her back as Nik dipped her backwards and as she slowly came up she closed her eyes. There was a catch in her breath at the action and when she finally released the air that had stuck in her lungs it made her chest heave. She rested her arm on Nik's shoulder and let her fingertips brush against his hair.
"I can see why you come here." Her voice was breathy and her eyes smiled at him. She felt freer than she had in a while, as if there was no need for pretenses here. She didn't have to be hurt or brave or in love. She just had to be.

He smiled down at her his forehead pressed against hers, he brought her up quickly and spun her out before bringing her back in. He had missed seeing the sassy smile she usually wore, watching her be herself and enjoy herself, it made him feel calm, actually it punched him in the gut with a feeling he didn't want to think too much about. So he didn't.
"Carlos." he said with a soft grin as a man approached.
"You are very beautiful dancer. You dance with Carlos." he said rather than asked, but the boyish grin on his extremely handsome face made it difficult to refuse.
Nik shrugged as though to say it was up to her.

Lyra turned as Nik addressed someone named Carlos. He was certainly a gorgeous hunk of a man. As he politely demanded Lyra dance with him, she turned and looked over at Nik. When he shrugged at her Lyra grinned. She understood why Nicolas had brought her here and why he had scolded her over the men in the dive bar and the apparent spectacle she had made of herself. It was all sort of fuzzy in her memory but it was there. Lyra could seek out the same thing here as she had aimed at finding at Stu's, but it wouldn't make headlines in the Daily Prophet. Lyra didn't even know what country they were in, but she was sure there wouldn't be anyone looking for them here.
Lyra gave a slight nod to Carlos along with a seductive smile as she left Nicolas for the dark, handsome man.

Nik did not bring her here to have a liaison, though she could if she wanted. But he brought her here to be free. To be wild. And to feel attractive after the rejections she had suffered.
Carlos was an amazing dancer. He was respectful, but sensual. He made Lyra look good. He worshiped her on the dancefloor. Nik left for the bar as the pair danced. He trusted Lyra with Carlos. Carlos was gay.
But there were other men in the room who were very much attracted to Lyra. Nik might have had more of an issue with them dancing the way Carlos danced with his 'friend'.

Lyra danced as if she had never had a worry in the world. Her movements were uninhibited and free. She was ignorant to Carlos' sexual preferences but it soon didn't matter as another man approached. He didn't even speak, he simply caught her hand as Carlos spun her out, and pulled her into his body. Lyra went with him easily.
The nameless man spun her around and pulled her back into him, her back to his chest. Their hips moved together and Lyra allowed her eyes to close for a moment as a tingling sensation rolled over her body.

Nik found her on the dance floor a short while later. She had passed hands yet again. Something inside him twisted when he saw her with Diego. He knew the man well enough as he had attempted to seduce Samantha once upon a time. Samantha, of course, was too smart to fall for the charming, chiseled, and devastatingly handsome man. Nik worried that Lyra would not show Samantha's discerning eye.
"I brought you a drink." he said getting within hearing distance.

Lyra looked lazily over her shoulder at Nik's voice, her body pressed against Diego's. The handsome stranger's hand cupped the small of her back, the other hand held Lyra's. "Is it another of those special drinks?" she asked, her voice soft and sultry. Her hips continued to sway to the music, encouraged by the movement of Diego's hips as the man was thrust against her.

"You'll like it." Nik promised with a smirk. Diego's hands became a little more possessive over the blond in his arms. He liked the way she fit against him and had no intention of letting go. He gave Nik a look that said as much.
Nik didn't respond, but his gut coiled and his muscles became tense.

"Okay," Lyra said as she smiled and turned to face Nik. Diego countered her movements by pulling her back against his chest, his hands now on her hips as they continued to move to the music. Lyra was ignorant to any silent exchanges between the men as she reached out for the drink Nik offered her.

Nik grabbed her hand at the same time and pulled her to him with a slight spin successfully claiming the woman in his arms. He smirked at Diego who seemed unfazed except for the slight curl at his mouth.
"Here love." he said handing her the drink.

She had not been expecting the sudden change in dance partners but was still too relaxed to worry much. Her eyes widened as Nik pulled her to him and as he spun her around she found herself smiling. She let out a gentle sigh of contentedness as she once again found herself in Nicolas' strong arms.
Dancing with Nik was different than dancing with Diego who tried to own her, or Carlos who seemed to worship her (on the dance floor). It was much more closely related to how it felt when Lyra had danced with Julian. It was passionate and graceful. There was a longing for something. Lyra knew what the longing had been when she danced with Julian, but with Nik it was a mystery. What could a man like Nicolas Everhart want?
She took the drink that was offered to her and drank it without looking at it or asking further what it was. She trusted Nik wouldn't give her something dangerous and with the mood she was currently in, she would have found most any kind of alcohol pleasant.

The brew was sweet, similar to euphoria but older, earthier, and not quite as refined. Nik grinned. It was odd to him how much he was beginning to enjoy Lyra’s company. He didn’t know when he stopped considering her a pest and considered her ...well something else. Watching her laugh or smile made him feel warm, big almost. Nik would never consciously compare Lyra to Sam. To him, there was no comparison to Sam. He loved her, and he would do what he could to woo and win her-a feat easier said than done. Perhaps that was the biggest difference. There was nothing he could do for or give to Sam that she could not do for herself, probably even better than he could.
“Good?” he asked in reference to the drink.

"Delicious," she said happily as she rested her head on his chest and let her arm fall to her side, still holding the glass. She allowed his movements to guide her on the dance floor as she smiled into him and her eyes shut for a moment. "This is a wonderful evening, Julian," she said as she wrapped her free hand around Nik's body. She was too at ease to realize her mistake. The last time she felt this way was with Julian and only for a brief moment amid the chaos that was their Hindenburg of a relationship.
