Lyra slipped out of her shoe, holding her foot up and using Mason's shoulder for balance. "Can you get it?" she asked, perhaps more damsel-like than she had planned.

He laughed at her tone and bent to retrieve her shoe while she maintained her balance, while he was down there he presented the shoe to her, "Milady." he teased. It was odd to find himself teasing her and in the charming mood he was in when she was around, considering it had all been a ploy to get him and Julian to make up.

Lyra grinned as she stepped back into her shoe. "Thank you, kind sir," she giggled.
As Mason rose to meet her she took his hand. "Please come back inside, Mason. I know you don't owe me anything but, please, come inside. For me?" Lyra's naturally bright eyes seemed to grow as she looked at him with something closely resembling a sad puppy dog.

"Look Lyra, I appreciate what you're trying to do. I even think Julian appreciates it, but I only came here today to see you and bury the hatchet, with you. Julian and I will sort our stuff out, or we won't, but I know that whatever happens it will be on his timetable and no sooner...I can't say that I'm not also a bit stubborn. But me going in there it's not going to accomplish anything." he said essentially refusing her.

Lyra felt the desire to cry but it was stopped by the enchanted jewels she wore. She had torn two friends apart and it seemed there was nothing she could do to correct her mistake. And dammit if both men weren't undeservedly forgiving of her sins. If only they could channel that onto their own relationship.
"How are we supposed to bury the hatchet after what I've done? You and Julian aren't friends because of me. I don't understand why neither of you will let me make this right!"

Mason's heart melted a little at Lyra's distress.
"Because you don't fix things by meddling. Just because it worked for you and me, doesn't mean that Sam was right in forcing us into that coach together. And you forcing these two knuckleheads to 'get over it' doesn't work either. You can't force people to get along. It's their choice." Nik said coming outside.
Mason glanced behind him to see if Julian had followed and Nik shook his head no.

"Well that's bloody stupid," she answered with a whine as she turned toward Nik's voice. It shouldn't take an attempted kidnapping to make friends, and it wasn't fair that Sam's ploys worked while Lyra's only made her feel worse.
"I'm so sorry, Mason." Lyra's voice was full of emotion. She shouldn't have meddled or deceived him into meeting her under false pretenses. But she was really apologizing for stealing his childhood friend from him.

He smiled at her, "You and I are good dollface." after all, Lyra actually had the guts to make a move. He brushed a stray lock of hair out of her face, "And it goes without saying that if he hurts you, I'll kick his face in."
He nodded toward Nik and took a few steps, "If he wants to find me, he knows where I'm at." he said then continued to leave.

Lyra watched Mason walk away, having resolved nothing between him and Julian. She turned and grabbed Nicolas around the middle, her face smothered in his chest. "This isn't fair," she whined into his body.

"I know pet." he said wrapping his arms around her, "Why don't you go kidnap Sam from the office and have a spa day. You did good kid, it just didn't work out like you and I did." he teased her.

She looked up at him without letting him go. She clearly needed to cry but the enchantments wouldn't let her. "What about Julian?"
Her not-boyfriend was probably now more like her not-friend. She hadn't expected the night to end like this. She was certain the boys would make up and Julian would see what she did as a wonderful, caring surprise. But now she didn't know what he might think of her.

"I'll handle the stubborn ass." he said exasperated, but for once that exasperation wasn't directed toward Lyra.

Lyra released her hold on Nicolas and took a heavy breath. "I just want him to be happy, Nik. But nothing I do seems to work out and I just keep making things worse."
Lyra chewed on her lower lip anxiously. "Will you remind him I love him? That I didn't mean to..." She stopped herself and shook her head. "Nevermind," she said in despair. "I'm going to go get Sam, like you said." She forced a smile.

Nik would chew the man out plenty, but Lyra didn't need to know that.
"He knows love. It'll be alright" he promised.

Lyra didn't go see Samantha as she told Nicolas she would. Instead, she went home alone and cried herself into a fit before adding a new scar to her collection.
