Dorian gave a slight smile as Max spilled that she had named her car. "Roxanne," he said as he looked the car over. "Yes, I have a feeling she is more my speed. And perhaps my attire won't look completely out of place."
He opened the driver's side door for her. "If the short time we've known each other is any indication, I'd dare say you've already decided where you'd like to go?" Dorian was slightly concerned that they'd end up in another dive bar, but he kept this worry, and anything similar, from his voice.

Max gifted him with another brilliant smile as he opened the door for her and she slid in the car, "You catch on fast." she grinned waiting for him to get in.
She still drove a little faster than necessary, just to get a rise out of him. When she stopped it was at the ice rink.

Dorian enjoyed the ride, just as he had on her motorcycle. One doesn't become an Auror if there isn't just a hint of a thrill seeker in them.
They arrived at the ice rink and Dorian immediately exited the car and moved quickly to open her door. As she stepped out he grinned. "Perhaps in your future endeavors it might be beneficial to consider proper attire," he said as he buttoned his suit jacket and offered his arm to her. A suit in a dive bar and now one on the ice. Lex would get a kick out of this.

She allowed him to escort her, "My point exactly." she said facing him and loosened his tie, "When was the last time you went without the suit?" she asked.
Then shrugged, "My guess is that you don't get enough dive bar, ice skating kind of fun. You need a little crazy to ruffle those perfect feathers of yours." she extended her hand, "Hi, I'm crazy." she introduced herself then teasingly pulled him inside the building.
The lights were off, but Max seemed to know exactly where she was going. She stopped then and flipped the switch revealing the fact that they were alone at the rink.

This was twice in the week he'd been mocked for his standard attire. Dorian much preferred the look of a classic suit to the atrocities most men wore these days. "I was under the assumption that ladies found a man in a suit to be alluring. Perhaps ripped denim and leather would be more your style?" It had started as a joke but Dorian soon came to realize that Max probably would find that attire attractive on a man.

She shook her head, "Your assumption is correct, a girl would have to be blind not to recognize the perfection that is you in that suit. Though I'm betting you'd look pretty great in leather and denim as well." she said with a little cheek.
It wasn't the suit Max wanted to ruffle, well maybe a little, truly it was the man she wanted to know, and perhaps break out of his shell a little.

"I suppose the latter would be a little more appropriate for such a venue." Dorian looked around at the deserted ice rink before his gaze fell back to Maxine. "Did you reserve the entire place or is this the usual number of patrons?"

Max laughed, " That would cost more money than I make in a month, and I haven't decided if you're that special yet." she teased.
"Otherwise this place sees quite a bit of action, but they're in the middle of a reno, and the owner's a friend of a friend."
Max hopped behind the desk, "What size are you anyway?"

"Eleven and a half," he answered. He hadn't gone ice skating since he was a boy, and was almost certain he'd end up embarrassing himself.
"What is it you do, Maxine? If I may be so bold."

She grabbed a pair of shoes for him and slid them over the counter then grabbed her own pair.
"Whatever I want." she answered with a grin.

Dorian removed his suit jacket and folded it neatly over the back of a nearby chair. He adjusted his tie slightly to make himself feel more at ease, but permitted it to maintain the loose and "casual" effect Max had teased him with earlier. He spoke as he changed his dress shoes for the ice skates she had provided him.
"I do not doubt that," he said with a smile. Dorian couldn't envision Maxine taking orders from a boss, so he assumed that whatever it was that she did to sustain her lifestyle was more of a consultant-type position or something that would provide her a similar freedom.

Max, like Dorian's previous flame (though by no means as wealthy), had an inheritance that provided for her lifestyle. Money had never been an issue, but she had never lived extravagantly.
After she changed her shoes she quickly moved to the ice, "How long has it been?"

Dorian followed staying nearer the edge of the rink in case he needed to grab hold of the ledge. But so far he was upright and rather impressed by his muscle memory.
"Since I've done this?" he clarified. "I would say well over ten years. I was still a boy. What about you? Do you frequently abuse your friend of a friend for skating privileges?" he asked in a reservedly teasing manner.

"I abuse many friends, friends of friends, and mere acquaintances for all kinds of privileges, no complaints yet officer." She teased him in return.
It was clear in her graceful movements around the rink that she was a skilled skater

Dorian didn't imagine that Maxine got many complaints at all. She was rather charming as well as elegant and beautiful. A man would have to be a real muppet to find fault in her. Of course, Dorian hardly knew Maxine so his perception was still being formed, but he found he was attracted to the liveliness she exuded.

She made her way to him in long graceful strides, she waited a beat before smiling knowingly as music filtered through the sound system.
She gave an overly formal bow, "May I have this dance?" she asked with a bright grin.

Dorian was far less graceful than Maxine, but he remained upright and held a decent pace. However he struggled to imagine that he would do anything other than hurt her if he tried anything more elegant than simple laps around the rink. But he'd be damned if he didn't at least attempt to indulge her after making her wait for his phone call.
"You can try," he said pleasantly.

She took his hands in hers and begun to skate backward while he moved forward helping him build confidence in his balance. After she was certain he was comfortable with what he was doing she began to sway gently eventually adding spins and turns and essentially dancing around him.

Charming. That was the word that continued to pop into Dorian's head as he watched Maxine dance around him like a ballerina. He couldn't help but watch as she spun around, her long legs twisting gracefully on the ice in a way that Dorian couldn't fathom possible. His eyes twinkled with something he thought lost after the fallout with Christine, and on his lips played a smile he was not consciously aware of.

Max miscalculated the distance between them and the wall during one of her spins. Their speed carried them too quickly to stop, and they were easily headed for a crash.
