"Easy love. I told you he doesn't quite remember everything." Derek cautioned, and yet Eve's acting was spectacular. She had once aspired to be an actress, but then she made so much money at the club she changed her mind. She had a tidy little nest egg, and with the money Derek was paying her to play this role she could retire at the ripe age of 26.
"Oh I'm sorry..." she pulled back from him and seemed to fidget, "We just didn't know what had happened, and if you were alright...you really don't remember? Not even a little?" she asked a small amount of hope in her voice.

He looked at Burke speculatively, then back to the woman with a slightly kinder appearance. His hand was still in his pocket, gripping his wand.
Christian shook his head at her question, catching the hope in her voice. He wondered if he had his memories if it would have pained him to crush such a feeling in her. But he didn't know the lovely woman in front of him, so he didn't hesitate in telling her "nothing."
"But I'm sure you can jog my memory, can't you?" he gave her a charming smile.

She gave him a shy look, "I can try."
Derek visibly rolled his eyes and went to the bar, "Drinks anyone?"
She tucked her hair behind her ear and moved to the sofa, "Would you like to sit?"

"Scotch," he said to Burke without looking at him. Christian followed Eve to the sofa, still hesitant of his apparent employer and her friend but deciding that he could at least take them down with him if they hard ulterior motives.
"Which one of these targets supposedly obliviated me?" he asked Eve as his eyes trailed over her figure.

"We don't know." she said with a sad little sigh, "He's the last one, you were following a lead and that was the last we heard from you. When you didn't come back we..." Eve cut herself off her voice trembling with emotion.
Derek returned with Christian's scotch.
"We assumed you had died. I myself didn't know you had survived until I saw you the other day coming out of the Rusty Nail. I would have approached you then but you looked...busy." Derek spared a look toward Eve, but didn't let anything on.
Still his eyes pierced Christian, "I realized what had happened tonight at the meeting when you looked through me. Considering we've been working side by side for the past three months, your behavior struck a chord."
There was only a slight hint of admonishment in his voice.

"Getting sentimental now, are we, Burke?" Christian said without a hint of remorse for his apparent coldness to his would-be partner in crime.
He drank his scotch while he mulled over the information provided to him. If he had been following a lead that meant he could do so again. Even if the target had moved on, he could pick up a trail. He was sure of it. But there was no spell to reverse a Memory Charm, so finding the person responsible would strictly be for revenge.
But of course if Eve had hired him to do a job, he could take revenge and make some money. And having lost three months worth of memories was certainly worth a renegotiation.
"I'm assuming you're still wanting this final target eliminated," he said to Eve.

Eve and Derek exchanged glances.
This had been part of Derek's plan. Despite Christian's betrayal, he was a worthy asset and having him on their side would help them get to the bottom of this faster. They could sort everything else out later.
"Yes." Derek insisted.
"Are you sure Christian?" Eve asked with concern.

Christian leaned back on the sofa and set his glass on his knee. He looked between Eve and Burke, his gaze returning to Eve as he answered her. "If I took a contract, then I aim to finish the job."
"What was our agreement?" Christian could just check his bank records and double the most recent deposit. Christian always insisted on half up front. But he wanted to hear the price direct from the horse's mouth.

Derek almost smirked while Eve blushed. Despite the fiasco that had been their encounter with Copperbottom, Derek had been able to pull the man's bank records as well as other useful information which would lead to the last board member. Ironically it helped him now as he quoted the price Christian had agreed upon with Copperbottom.
Eve stood and turned away from them. "It wasn't about the money."
Derek turned toward her, "He doesn't remember love." he said sympathetically.

They put on a touching show but Christian wasn't one for feelings, despite whatever sort of connection he and Eve might have had previously. He could see that his question upset her, so his next statement would likely be more of the same.
"The thing is," Christian said as he took another drink of his scotch. "It is about the money. And as I'm missing a quarter of this year I think I should be compensated as such. A quarter more of the original price and I'll bring you the head of your mystery board member." He looked hard at Derek, who for some reason seemed to be making the decisions for the pair.

Eve sighed, a trace of sadness in her voice, "I'll leave you men to discuss business then." she said disappearing into the other room.
Derek was more than impressed with her acting, but he kept his eye on Christian.
"I apologize. I warned you she's a bit sensitive right now. I don't imagine the cost being an issue."
Derek sipped on his own drink as he contemplated the business contract he was entering into with Christian. While Eve's emotions weren't sincere, Diana's loss was very real.

"Good. Then it won't be an issue up front." Christian finished his drink and set the empty glass on the table in front of him. "I'll contact you to discuss any plans once the money has been transferred into my account," he said as he stood.
"And Burke, don't go 'round thinking that because we apparently have worked together for the past three months that we're something of friends. Approach me about anything other than DE business at a meeting again and we'll have a problem. Understood?"
Christian didn't wait for an answer as he turned and headed for the door. Once in the lift he pulled the mirror from his pocket and called his men off the Burke girl. Then, instead of heading out of the hotel, he decided to soothe his mind with another drink and headed into the hotel bar.

"He's kind of an arse." Eve said coming from the other room after Christian left.
"Yes, but he's a talented arse, and having him on my side is better than the alternative. I need an eye on him, are you sure you're up to the task?"
She gave him a bored look.
"Right forget I asked."
"I'm going to get a drink. Thanks for the room, who is your real client anyway?"
"No questions remember?"
"Right, I don't really care anyway, although they are obviously loaded." she said looking at the posh room she was put up in.
After a few more forced pleasantries Derek left the hotel to return to Diana, and Eve headed toward the bar.
She didn't see him at first and ordered a gin and tonic.

Christian saw her almost immediately and watched as she leaned over the bar to order her drink. He admired her backside and decided that perhaps he had been a bit harsh with her. He carried his glass from his table up to the bar and sat on the stool two away from her.
"You know, most of the people I work with choose to keep a low profile until the job is done. That dress...you might draw unwanted attention," he said with a handsome smirk.

(OOC: Switching to Diana, cause any kind of romantic scene between Christian and Derek is weird...)
Eve stiffened. Her eyes widening and her drink just barely touching her lips, finally schooling her features she turned to face him.
"I thought you left..." she said with the appropriate amount of emotion that he was still there, "I needed something to take the edge off. It's been a long day."

((OOC: It feels like cheating now... LOL))
Christian laughed at her comment. She was having a long day? At least she had her memories of the past three months.
"I can relate," he deadpanned before taking a sip of his drink.

"I can imagine." she sympathized taking a sip of her drink.
"I didn't say it earlier, but I'm sorry this happened to you." she said sincerely. She didn't know him, she wasn't the role that she played, but she had lost a few days here and there in her line of work, to lose a couple of months must have been horrible.

The sympathy struck a nerve with Christian. It was an emotion he tried to exclude from his professional life, as it only made things messy. But apparently he'd let things get messy with Eve before his memory was taken from him. He assumed there must have been a good reason for it.
"I'm sure there are plenty of things I won't miss. But somethings," he said slowly as his eyes drifted up and down her frame, "I'm quite positive will be sorely missed."

She was flattered. There was a flicker of invitation in her eyes as he assessed her assets. She brought her drink to her lips once again.
Eve wasn't a prostitute, though she danced for a living, she never took it that far, but she wasn't above sleeping with a client if it was something she wanted. Derek hadn't warned her off of doing so, he had in fact warned her that Christian was a physical man, and she could remember him being so.
She remembered being enamored with him the first time she saw him, but grew frustrated when her charms were clearly having no affect. She chalked it up to the man being in love and didn't think about it again. But she thought about it now. Christian didn't remember the woman he might have been in love with. He thought that that woman was her, and she had to admit she was a little curious.
"Maybe not." she returned.

He smirked and stood from his bar stool. "Let's see how long it takes for me to remember," he said against her ear as his fingers trailed down her arm.
Christian didn't feel the need to woo her anymore than that. They'd clearly had some sort of relationship and Eve had it in her head that she was his girlfriend, so what was the point in all the extra talking?
