They were trapped. O'Grady's personal guards were more skilled than the men outside. They could block and attack in the same swift movement, leaving no chinks in their armor. The longer they fought the farther O'Grady ran (waddled) to freedom. "F*ck this," he said to himself, then yelled to Derek, "hold them off."
Christian quickly gauged their distance to the guards and then the length of the room that stood next to them. He disappeared into the room and blasted the concrete wall between him and the guards. Heavy chunks of debris rained onto the men, who were still fighting, but it left an opening to get around them to O'Grady. Christian took aim at the men still attempting to guard their employer, but with him and Derek coming at them from two sides now, there was room enough for Diana. Christian almost wanted to stop and watch, awed by the beauty her sin exuded.

Derek saw the opening, and for a moment without any words at all they moved as a synchronized unit, as if they had been working together for years.
Diana ran toward her opening sliding agilely through flying debris and stray hexes. She moved with grace and determination, her legs quickly eating up the space between her and O'Grady. Proving her injuries to be a thing of the past she leaped several feet in the air landing on Grady's back. She balanced herself there allowing her weight to slow him down as she brought both daggers upward and swiftly down between both shoulders.
Grady fell to the white snow and watched with horror as the crimson liquid spread from his wounds. Using her heel she kicked his body so that he was laying on his back. She brought her wand up and immobilized him waiting for Christian and Derek to join her.

With the bodyguards finally relieved of their duty Christian rushed up the stairs, Burke in tow. Once outside he saw that there was no need to rush; Diana had managed to overcome the strange side effects Dr Hanley's potions had caused. O'Grady lie in a pool of own blood. Christian smiled at Diana.

"I've staunched the bleeding. He's in a lot of pain." Diana said with a malicious smile.
"I know how much you love a good interrogation." She brought her eyes up to Christian, and the expression she wore was foreign on her face. She was happy. Content. And a look that seemed to suggest pride and affection.
Derek looked on and almost laughed as Diana presented her prize like a housewife might present a home cooked meal.

Christian didn't usually enjoy his job so much as he simply had a natural talent for it. But the happiness and dark smile on Diana's face made his chest swell with pride.
He turned slowly to the fat wizard who's eyes were wide with terror. He mouth was trembling as he sputtered pathetic, spit ridden pleas for mercy. "Where are the others, O'Grady?"
"Please, please I have a family."
That was not the right thing to say in front of Christian or Diana. Christian stepped on the man's chest and pushed his weight onto the bastard's lungs. "Everyone has a family," he spat. "And everyone dies eventually. Now tell me where the others are, or I will personally escort your family to the afterlife."

Was it wrong to be turned on by her lover's actions? Probably. But Diana was broken, and their quest for their daughter made moments like this incredibly satisfying. It didn't hurt that Christian was once again in his element as he questioned O'Grady.
Unbeknownst to Diana there was only one Board member they didn't have a location for. Christian knew where Copperbottom was. Diana was certain that Copperbottom would have the mystery board member's information as well. She had seen the man before, but it had only been a brief glance, and thus far no information after two years of looking.
Still they had accomplished so much in the past few weeks that Diana was optimistic. Optimism and hope did strange things to a person as Diana's emotions became quite frantic once more.

"Whingh" O'Grady gasped as Christian's boot pushed on his windpipe. Christian relented and the mad inhaled shallow, ragged breaths.
"You were saying," Christian prompted him.
"Ling. He's in. Australia."
"Wrong." Christian put his weight back on the fat man and held it there for a very slow count of three, then released him. "Try again."
"New. Zealand."
"And the others?"
"I don't. Know. I. Swear."
Christian leaned in, speaking in a low, dangerous tone. "Do you swear on your children's lives?" O'Grady's eyes widened and he nodded his head furiously. Christian rose as the air around them turned green. He turned to Diana. "You were f*cking brilliant," he complimented her.

Diana didn't think of these men as men. Men with normal lives, spouses, or children. Most of them didn't have those things. Some of them had mistresses a plenty, and one had been working on wife number six. Fewer had children. But all of them had condemned her and sought to end her life to keep their cushy ones. Sympathy didn't enter into the equation.
She smiled and lifted her chin as Christian complimented her.
Derek rolled his eyes, "As cute as you two psychopaths are," he teased, "It's f*cking cold. Let's go home."
