His gut twisted as she screamed and pulled away from his touch. For an instance Dorian thought he was having a very vivid nightmare. But she soon clutched to him for dear life and he realized he was awake. And she was alive.
"They said you were dead," he managed through strained breathing. He kissed the top of her head as she sobbed and held her tighter. "Oh Godric, Christine. Where have you been?" He didn't really care. All that mattered was that she was alive. Everything else would be sorted out in due time, but for now, she was alive.

His question sobered her, but for one selfish moment she didn't care. She didn't care about anything. It could all be a dream. She could be dying right now, but in Dorian's arms she found heaven and she was happy. She wasn't ready to return to hellish reality she had just left, and she didn't want to. She held him tighter and tighter still as though she were running from the truth and responsibility. She needed to tell him about the other girls, about M, about everything, that was why she had risked everything to escape, but the words wouldn't form.
It was a pure and unequal torture, much more inventive than any of M's tortures, to return to reality and the responsibility of the other girls.
"I almost died...I was supposed to..." she said in a whisper, "I escaped...he...he wanted to use me as an example." she coughed. "I was supposed to keep the others in line, but I-" the sobs started again as she fractured under the weight of her experience, "I ran."

Alek shifted his weight uncomfortably in the doorway. He was cursing his sister for forcing his hand in finding Christine as it had resulted in him playing witness to his despised half-brother's reunion with, apparently, his lover. He watched the pair. He felt uneasy about leaving Christine with Dorian. He had already lost her once and the girl had been through hell and back because of it.

"Others?" There were others? The notion shook Dorian from his bliss. He suddenly realized Lex's brother was standing in his office. He looked at Alek, perplexed. How long had the man been there? And what 'others' was Christine talking about?
"Are you saying there are more girls?" They hadn't received any new reports that he was aware of, though he had suspected Kate was keeping some aspects of the case from him, to spare him.

Christine didn't let go of him, she would have to be pried away with a crowbar, and after everything she had been through she would kill anyone who tried.
She gave a gentle nod, " There are others." She looked up at his face. Her mission was complete. She had made it to the ministry, she had told him about the others, that was the extent of her reserves.
There was a soft look of relief in her eyes as she brought her hand up to his cheek, " I found you..." she coughed frailly, "I found you." she pulled into him and closed her eyes before falling unconscious.

“Christine!” Dorian didn’t have time to comprehend or even ask for more information before Christine’s hand fell from his face and her eyes closed. He supported her limp body as the confusion washed over him, but he only let it linger for a moment. He adjusted her in his arms until he was cradling her and looked to Alek whose presence he still didn’t understand. “I’m taking her to the hospital,” he explained, and followed with “you’re coming with me.” Dorian had questions that Christine was currently unable to answer, so Alek would have to fill in.
He pushed past Alek, Christine’s frail body in his arms. He caught an intern who was passing by, the boy looked terrified to see Christine in her present shape. “Get Kate or Grayson, anyone on the M case. Tell them I’m at the hospital and it’s urgent.” Wide-eyed the intern nodded and ran off to find the lead aurors on the serial killer case.

Alek didn’t take well to being told what to do, especially by his bastard half-brother. If it hadn’t been for the fact that he was planning to go anyway to tell his sister he had found her friend, he would have fought more. “You can’t tell me what to do, Humbert!” He marched after Dorian, ranting at him though Dorian seemed unaffected. In the end he too ended up at the hospital and watched as Dorian spoke frantically to the triage nurse, then refused to leave Christine as they brought her into a room.
Alek brushed past Christine’s room, intending on speaking with his sister. But Dorian stood in the doorway of Christine’s room and called after him.
“You’re not leaving,” Dorian called in a stern voice. The man was as much of a witness as they had at the moment and Dorian needed to know everything.
“And who exactly is going to stop me?” Alek snarled as he turned around slowly. This was the second time Dorian had dared to order him around and it would not be happening again.
“I need information.”
Alek’s eyes narrowed. “Yes, I suspect you would. The Ministry is rather inept at finding the facts on their own.”
“Thank you.”
“I didn’t say I would help you,” Alek sneered.
“Thank you for finding her."
