Lyra smiled when he laughed at her request for a translation, but her insecurities slowly crept up and she wondered briefly if they had said something mean to each other. Could Ducasse tell that she didn't belong in such an elegant restaurant? Lyra thought on this as they walked until Mason stopped in front of a little cafe.
She looked at him curiously then turned slightly and caught the most magnificent view. Lyra gasped as her eyes lit up. "Oh, Mason, this is absolutely perfect," she said turning back to him.

Mason grinned when she showed her appreciation, "Come on." he said nudging her slightly. He led her to a small table and told her he'd return.
He disappeared inside the cafe, after about ten minutes he returned with two small plates. There was a cup of melted dark chocolate and a paper bag with miniature churros inside on each plate. He handed one of the plates to Lyra then sat down.

Lyra had spent the time alone admiring the view. The tower was lit softly against the dark starry sky but it wasn't the only thing that had drawn her attention. The entire city was alive and Lyra took it all in. People passed by on the street, paying no mind to her or the scenery in which they were a part of. The smell of bread baking filled the air. She could hear horns honking and people laughing. It really was the most perfect evening. And then Mason returned and it was even better.
"I have to admit, I'm not used to this," she remarked as he sat down. "I've been on plenty of dates before, but this..." she gestured to their surroundings, "no one has ever done anything like this." The boys at school had no idea how to properly woo a girl, and the ones that did only used their knowledge to get a girl into bed. Lyra didn't often require the effort and thus was rarely afforded it. Julian's romantic efforts were subconscious and she had been fighting the idea that they desired each other, so she had refused to see it. And after their feelings were apparent they hadn't had any opportunities for Julian to sweep Lyra off her feet. This entire process was new to Lyra and it endeared Mason to her.

Mason wouldn't deny that in his youth he had often used his charm to steal a kiss or two or more, not that he was keen to tell his mother any of those stories. But the woman had also taught him the right way to treat a lady, and he was pulling out the stops to make a good impression. He had never worried about making a good impression before, mostly because women were often tripping over themselves to win an engagement ring from him.
"So that is why no one has managed to keep you yet." he said with a soft smile, "Apparently they lack the skill."

"Is that what you're trying to do? Keep me around," she simpered, pleased with the thought. She knew it wouldn't always be like this, but she could see something happening with Mason in the future. She would let him show her the world, and in return she could share her world with him.

"Maybe." he answered her, "Is it working?" he asked with a grin. He made a pretense then of rolling his eyes.
"But if you insist on ravishing me in the carriage and then never calling again, well I understand." he teased.

Lyra raised an eyebrow at him. "What if," she said seductively, reaching her hand across the table to rest on his, "I ravished you in the carriage and still wanted to call on you later? Would you be amenable to that?" Her lips curved into a sly smile as she stared at him.

"I doubt there's a man alive that could refuse such an offer." he said intently while looking in her eyes. She was enchanting, and the combination of Lyra and Paris was a memorable one. He would indeed be amenable to much more of her company. Suddenly he was eager to return to the carriage.

Her chest flushed and her eyes flashed with intent. Lyra could be a respectable woman. She knew how to behave and follow the rules society had placed on her without becoming one of the women Samantha and she often talked about who were more fake than their marriages. But Lyra was also done waiting.
She had waited for Julian to admit his feelings for her, and she had waited for him to decide if he could follow through with those feelings. When Julian showed up unannounced at her flat today, he ended her long waiting period and she was free to move on. No longer would she be the girl who waited. She wanted something and she was going to take it. She rose slightly from her seat, leaning across the table, and brought her lips gently to Mason's.

Mason responded just as eagerly. She was fire and ice, and one hell of a woman. He broke the kiss taking her by the hand and pulling her back toward the privacy of the carriage, where he resumed kissing her.

She had pent up so much emotion from earlier without realizing it, but she let it all loose with Mason. It was incredibly romantic making out in the carriage as it sailed through the night, but Lyra was attempting to grow as a person so she didn't attempt to move beyond very heavy kissing with Mason. Not yet. It would be her greatest accomplishment yet if she could make it home without bringing this impossibly handsome man into her bed. Merlin, she was going to try to be good.

Mason held himself in check. He kissed her, held her, and though her passion threatened to overwhelm him, pushing at his restraint, he did restrain himself. There were a few moments in which he might not have had the strength, where he knew he could have pushed for more.
In the end he held back. He liked this woman. Heaven forbid he forfeit his man card (not that he was the type to care about such things, even as an adolescent boy at Hogwarts bragging was not his thing), Mason wanted to take things slow. He had a feeling that Lyra was accustomed to selling herself short. Not that he thought any less of her for indulging in the same carnal desires that he had, but it was in her awe and gratitude for their date. The simple fact that no one had gone as far to take her to a beautiful restaurant or romantic cafe to woo her. Mason wanted to be different. He wanted to earn her affections and show her the way a real man paid tribute to the woman they were interested in. If they did end up coming together it would be a mutual expression of more than just immediate lust, it would be because he had won her trust and her heart, and it would make their desire for one another stronger.
Still he indulged in the intimacy of her lips on his for the duration of the ride back home. All too soon the carriage stopped.

The short ride from her flat had been a pleasant surprise as it permitted their evening to start even sooner. But the timeliness of the trip back home was unfortunate as Lyra didn't want to leave Mason, but also knew better than to trust herself if she invited him up. She parted from him slightly and looked into his eyes. "This was absolutely amazing, Mason. Thank you." She wanted to ask for a second date but her insecurities stopped her, so she simply gave him a quick kiss instead.

"The pleasure was mine." he assured her bringing her hand to his lips and kissing her knuckles
He exited the carriage and stepped out, then offered his hand once more to help her down.
"I look forward to seeing you again." he said this time leaning in and kissing her forehead.

The night is Hogsmeade was not as beautiful as it had seemed in Paris. Though the stars still twinkled and the trees still danced in the breeze, the magic had gone from the air. It was lucky, then that Mason held his own enchantment over her.
She blushed and agreed to another meeting. "That would be lovely," she cooed as he kissed her forehead. She smiled again at him before turning and heading into the apartment building.
Once inside her own flat she fell against the wall, a relieved/excited feeling washing over her as she beamed at Mimsy who had waited up for her. The elf nodded happily and put away the wine she had brought out, just in case.
