Mentally Alyx was contemplating all kinds of horrible hexes she could cast Rabastan's way for hurting her friend. For all the opening up Alyx did, she was still just as fierce and feisty when it came to a friend or underdog.
"Huh? Oh yeah sure. Let's walk a bit." she said forgetting about her primary errand that day.
"And the reason it has to be a game is because they're boys, they don't know what they want. I'm not sure a man will know either." at sixteen Alyx was turning into quite the little jade, then again she had little faith in people in general due to her upbringing.

Evelyn believed what Alyx said to her about boys. She knew Alyx had had her fair share of drama with Sin, and while the two situations weren't really all that similar, the same conclusions could be drawn. Evelyn kept her thoughts to herself as they paid for their meal.
"So," she started cautiously, not wanting to sound too enthusiastic while at the same time not sounding unsupportive. "What was the name of that investigator you mentioned?" She knew Alyx would need support through this journey, and she felt honored to be the one to help her get started.

It wasn't so much that Alyx knew about men or boys, she was just an observer of all kinds of interpersonal interactions and it clicked for her. Alyx was on her own, always had been, she had to know how to read people, situations, and call it for what it was even when her heart wanted to believe differently.
Alyx's steps became a little slower when Evelyn reminded her of her task, "Chevalier." she answered quietly. She still wasn't sure how she was going to afford this next step, but she knew she had to understand the past in order to move forward.

"Well," Evelyn said rather cheerfully, "I guess we better go see what they say, eh?" She had noticed their pace slow slightly at the change of topic but didn't mention it to Alyx. Evelyn tried, but ultimately failed, to understand the wide range of emotions Alyx had to have been feeling at that moment. Evie focused on simply being positive instead. "I bet there's a discount, or something, since you're underage."

Alyx shared a brief smile, "In my experience that's never been the case, they try to take advantage because I'm young...it's alright though I'll figure that out somehow."
She was nervous, a part of her wasn't even sure why she was doing this, she had long ago "convinced" herself that she didn't need to know her parents or why they gave her up, she had called it their loss and "moved on". But she never really had.

"Good thing you've got me then," she said cheerfully, trying to keep Alyx's spirits up. "My mum always says that you never want to get on the bad side of a redhead. I'll set them straight," she teased. The girls made their way to London and the investigations office. They had spent much of their journey talking, with a few prolonged periods of silence followed by Evelyn's far too perky attempt at keeping Alyx's mind off of any unfortunate scenarios she might have been thinking of.
