Hayden sat there quietly with a light smile on his face. He could tell whenever art was mentioned Nathalia's face would light up. He was thankful she liked art as much as she did since he had something else in mind after dinner.
As the waiter brought their food back out to their table, Hayden placed his napkin in his lap and continued on with their conversation. "I have not been to the Color Festival in India, although I hear it's a great event to go to. When is it usually?" He liked to see her a little unguarded. A little more of her showed through and she wasn't fighting against him as much.

"It's the beginning of Spring," Nathalia answered easily. Interestingly enough, she knew quite a lot about Hindu traditions and culture.
She leaned back as she replied, their food being placed in front of them. It looked wonderful, and before she even took a bite, she could already tell that Hayden had not steered her wrong in this choice.
She didn't realize it right then, but she was letting her doubts and insecurities go. Undoubtedly, if Hayden pushed a little too far or touched the wrong button, her defenses would fly back into place, but he seemed very well aware of this and was mostly letting her lead the conversation- letting her keep it safe.
"There is actually a small group of practicing Hindus here that do it, too, but it's not quite the same."

"That would be something nice to check out. I will make sure to remember that." Hayden smiled at her across the table and picked up his fork.
"Hinduism is fascinating I think. It's a mix of different religions into one." He did note that she seemed to know a lot about it with the way she talked about the festival in general. "Of course the culture in itself is fascinating as well." Taking his time while eating, Hayden made sure that he was being careful around her. Treading lightly was something he was good at and he knew that he could make things alright for her, as long as he didn't push too far.
"What's your favorite part of the festival?"

He was taking interest in things she was interested in, and it was remarkably dangerous. It both made her smile and made her heart skip a beat in what she was pretty sure was fear.
He was being perfect, really, and she was trying very hard not to acknowledge this. He was still the guy that rejected her. Of course, Paige was on his side, and that didn't help. She just didn't want to get invested in this and have it turn south on her. She took a breath, reminded herself it was just one date, and there was no reason to sabotage this just yet.
"The color festival, probably, because it's just so much fun. And you've never see so many people so happy before. The mythology behind it is pretty fascinating... but you sound like you might know a little about that?"

"The mythology behind it is fascinating. The whole thing of myths and legends seem amazing. All of those stories, they had to come from some truth, did they not?" Hayden smiled. He found something that could keep Nathalia appear at ease.
"I vaguely remember the details. Something about Holi, Kamadeva, Radha-Krishna, and Dhundi. I just remember those from books I used to read. I remember being fascinated that these stories were something people actually believed. Sure, we have magic, but the things people have faith in are so much more extraordinary than just magic. For so many things to happen, even the bad things, people still try to find that light of hope somewhere. Once they catch a glimpse of it they hold on to it. Celebrate the things that have happened in their life or in their culture. People in general are just as fascinating as the stories they tell."
He looked to her and gave her a smile. There was a small hint in there that he was referencing her. "Maybe you could refresh my memory of the mythology behind the color festival?"

Oh, Merlin. He needed to stop. He was weaseling his way under Nathalia's skin, and it scared her, frankly. She still didn't fully understand what was happening here, between them, but Hayden was sincerely talking about faith and the effect it had on people who could claim faith, and she was fascinated by the stories he was telling.
She couldn't respond to it. It made her mouth go dry, though she found that she couldn't really take her eyes off of him, either.
She, instead, nodded and relayed what she knew of the color festival. It sat in the back of her mind that he might already know all of this, and was humoring her, but even that was endearing in a way, and it was difficult to keep her mind on her words instead of on him.
Finally, mercifully, the waiter interrupted them again to deliver their meals.
