Kryshna seemed to be relaxing. She was calm and her speech patterns were becoming more understandable. She watched him as he thought and spoke. She was very patient with him, quietly contemplating what he said to her. She thought about his words, thinking if she would want to die or not.
"Already dead... would just no longer move."
But the way she spoke didn't necessarily sound like she believed her own words. She looks back up at him.
"Why does Human care? Killed many of yours. Why my.... survival matter?"

Kieran didn't answer for a while as he thought about the question. Even she probably didn't know how many people she had killed in her unnaturally long lifetime. And after having lost three of the people he cared about most in the world, it would have been natural and understandable for him to despise this creature, who may not have killed his family, but had killed many other people. She represented all that was wrong in the world, all that he had recoiled from and turned to alcohol to hide from.
And yet, she was probably as much a victim in this as the people she had killed. She hadn't asked for this, had she? There was no telling what her life might have been like, what path she might have taken, if she had ever been given a chance to make her own choices.
She'd lived a life steeped in violence, darkness, and death. She was so far removed from life that she probably didn't even remember what it felt like to breath or to eat or to love. And for that, Kieran couldn't help but feel sad. Maybe you couldn't miss what you never had, but Kieran couldn't imagine anything lonelier than living but never loving, killing but never feeling.
"Maybe I just hope there's a way you can come back. To get a chance to live the life you never had."

Kryshna stared at him, rather dumbfounded. No one had ever actually cared about her for any reason other than so she could kill for them. She figured, when this man wanted to keep her alive, it was so she could kill for them. But, unless he was lying to her, he had no interest in having her kill for him. But maybe one of the others did?
She looked very confused by everything and remained very silent for a long time. Her eyes were staring at the ground, unmoving the entire time. Everything was so wrong... or at least different from what she was used to. People would contact her, hire her to take care of someone, only cared until she was no longer useful. Only two in the entire time she had ever been aware had done anything other than care about what she could kill for them. And they were both dead by then.

Kieran watched her quietly, wondering what she was thinking about. He almost wished she was still struggling and thrashing about, acting feral. He was fully aware that it wasn't a good idea to feel sympathy or compassion towards this creature, and yet looking at her right now, he couldn't help himself. She was a killer; he couldn't allow himself to forget that. But no one had ever asked her if she wanted any of this. And now that she had "failed," she had nothing left.
"Do you want me to go?" he asked at last, nodding toward the door.

She thought a moment longer before looking up at him. An odd sanity seemed to have come over her. A clarity in all this insanity. She looked determined.
"The German... You hunt him down? Bring him here?"
Her description of what she needed was almost comical. She said it as if he was to hunt him down like an animal. But she meant for him to find Rutger and ask him to come see her. She just did not know how to actually say that.
She had made up her mind. In her eyes, there were two options, both of which would lead to death. She had failed the dark lord. In her eyes that meant death. If she didn't talk to Rutger, these wizards would kill her. If she did, then the Dark Lord would kill her, even if he wasn't going to kill her in the first place.
She knew, for some reason, the work she had been doing for the Dark Lord was wrong. But she had been so used to taking a contract that she took the first thing that came her way. At the very least, if she was going to die, she could at least make amends for what she had done. She had already broken her code by taking on Voldemort's contract. This was her way of fixing it.
She looked at him for a long moment.
"Please..."

Kieran actually laughed in spite of himself, as the mental image of him stalking the German auror like a beast in the halls of the hospital popped into his head. But he sobered quickly at the odd pleading expression in the creature's eyes. It reminded him acutely of a wounded bear caught in a trap.
"Yeah... I'll try. I can't promise he'll come right away," he said.
He was sure the German would come in eventually, but as he understood it, he was distracted by the injury of his partner. And if Kieran were to try and bring him here now, he'd have to admit that he'd come in here when he wasn't supposed to. But maybe there was a way around that, if he was careful.
"It might not be right away," he added. " I think he's with his partner. I hear he was upset that you hurt her."

She looks at him, curiously. For a very brief moment, she just watched him. But it wasn't creepy like the last few times. Just curious. She quickly spoke again.
"You... Kieran... will come back?"
Her question was simple, but, to her, it meant everything.

Kieran hesitated for a long moment, watching her with eyes as wary as her own. He definitely noticed the difference in the way she was looking at him, and it surprised him. It was just like how she had looked at him while he was working so hard to heal her injuries... curious, interested... human. He found it just as difficult to look away.
He should tell her no. He shouldn't see her again. He wasn't even sure he'd be able to see her again. For all he knew, they would take her out of here and lock her away in some hole somewhere, never to be seen again.
And yet...
"Yes," he found himself saying. "I will find a way."
