Knowing that it was Pavel who had taken Dani helped a lot. Although she was still worried, because she knew what Pavel was capable of, it was still better than some stranger with unknown motivations. And she had escaped Pavel once before... she could do it again. They had Henri on their side, and the Ministry as well. He would not get away with this. Dani was going to be rescued, and if Aurelia had anything to do with it, she was going to make Pavel pay for this. No one hurt her little girl and got away with it.
"The floo is fine," she said. "I'm not good at apparating, and I don't want you to have to apparate us both there."

Henri didn't mind apparating them there, but if he did apparate them, that meant that they would have to go outside the grounds. Leaving the school just to apparate would take a little more time, so floo was the best option. Using floo wasn't a favorite of Henri's, but it was quicker and this was important. He could make exceptions, especially for Dani and Aurelia.
He took her hand and started to lead her toward the fireplace that they could use. "You know," he said attempting to ease the moment up a little, "once Dani is back, the three of us could go to Paris one weekend. It doesn't have to be extremely soon, just one weekend, or maybe sometime when Dani is on a break. I'm sure that she would love it there."

Aurelia tried to smile. She knew what he was trying to do. He was trying to distract her from the worry that was swirling around inside of her by focusing on the future and not the present. It was sweet of him, but it didn't entirely work. For the time being, all she could really think about was finding Dani and bringing her home. And making Pavel pay for using Dani as leverage to get her back.
She had never actually divorced him, because she had felt that, in doing so, she would be telling him where she was. But now she intended to do just that, once this was all over. Henri was back in her life, and she was not going to remain married to Pavel a second longer than necessary.
"I think Dani would love Paris," she said quietly, her tone clearly distracted. "I used to tell her about it, and I promised I would bring her there one day. But money's always been short, and I was always afraid Pavel would find me. I guess I should have known it would happen eventually. I'm just glad I found you first. This would be.... unbearable without you."

It was worth the shot to see if he could attempt to lighten things up a little bit. Even if the smile was forced from Aurelia, it was worth trying to make her smile. She was trying to amuse him, even if she was still distracted and he appreciated that. There was so much that Henri wanted to do but there was not a whole lot he could do based on the fact that Pavel needed to be stopped.
Henri squeezed her hand. "I think we should thank Dani for that," he said with a smile. It was true, the little girl had brought the two back together. Maybe eventually they would have run into one another again, but it was because of Dani that they ran into each other at the school. He did not want to let Aurelia go, even if he couldn't remember everything that they had been through. Slowly he was getting his memory back. There were a few more things that he had been able to remember but it was just mainly pieces.
"After we go to Paris, we could take her to Brittany to visit the coast It could be a great place for a picinic there."
The only thing that was in the way was Pavel and Henri was not going to let him get the best of him this time. He was more aware.
Picking up the floo powder, Henri looked to Aurelia. "Want to go first?"

It was curious, really, how Dani had managed to bring them together after all this time. Aurelia had never told Dani about Henri, and it was such a surprising stroke of luck that, of all the aurors guarding the school, Dani should happen to make friends with the one that might very well be her father. Aurelia had never believed in fate or destiny or any of that before, but now she couldn't help but wonder if there was some force at work that had finally brought them together again. And now it had brought back Pavel as well.... maybe because he was another part of her past that remained unfinished. Maybe she needed to be rid of him for good this time.
And if there was another force at work, conspiring to bring Aurelia and Henri and Dani together and end things with Pavel once and for all, then surely that force would not take Dani from them. Dani would be all right.... she had to be.
It was this thought that gave her hope. She didn't need to distract her mind by imagining the things that they could do once Dani was home safe. She was sure now that everything was going to be OK.
"I'll go first," she said firmly. She grasped a handful of floo powder, and stated clearly, "Ministry of Magic!"
In a puff of blue flames, she vanished, reappearing a few minutes later in the Ministry of Magic.
(I'm not sure how much more we should do with this thread.... We'll need Sean....)

The youngest Leviner brother was already at the Ministry. In fact, he'd been there since the morning before, and all through the night. He knew statistics better than anyone- after 72 hours, the odds of finding a missing person dropped to almost nothing. He had a little better odds because he had magic on his side, and he was good at what he did... but it was starting to seem like even that didn't mean much.
He didn't know about the note that Aurelia had gotten from Pavel yet. As terrifying as a note like that might be, it would have given Sean a surge of hope. It was something to go off.
As of now, he had nothing. No clues, no links, no witnesses that really saw anything. And despite the Dark Mark having been hovering in the air, Sean couldn't even tie this kidnapping to the Death Eaters. It was frustrating. That, and the fact that the new girl seemed to be shadowing his brother, and he almost wondered if he was being taken off the other case. Sean just wasn't the type to ask, no matter how much it bothered him.
He looked up at the sound of someone entering the Auror's Department, and his frown suddenly deepened. It was the girl's mother, and Henri, one of the Aurors assigned to watch the school. They both looked like they hadn't slept, and the mother, especially, looked haggard.
He stood up from his desk, coming over to greet them. "Ms. Krizova... has something happened?"

He didn't know it, but he was looking haggard, too. She felt a little sorry about that, but at the same time, she was also relieved. It meant that he was working on this, and doing whatever he could to find her daughter.
"Hello... Sean?" she said hesitantly. The last time she had seen him, she had been so hysterical that she really only vaguely remembered meeting him at all, and wasn't sure if she had his name right. Even if she had his first name right, she couldn't even begin to guess what his last name was.
Deciding it was best to just tell him straight out why they were there, she held out the ransom note. "We received a letter. It is my ex-husband. He has her... but he must have a wizard helping her, because it was delivered by owl."

Sean looked down at the note she was holding out, hesitating. "This is good news, Ms. Krizova. I know it doesn't feel like it, but.... this is good." He still hadn't taken the note from her, because he knew without a doubt what would happen if he did. And yes, a vision would help immensely, but he didn't want to scare her.
"Can you set it down, please?" Whatever he saw would also be clearer if she wasn't also touching it, her influence all over it. He glanced at Henri and subtly gestured for him to take Aurelia somewhere... else. Not that the Auror would understand any better than Aurelia would. "Why don't you both get some coffee while I look this over?"

Henri understood Sean's expression before he said anything. "Sure," he said. He knew that Sean needed a little space to look over it instead of having them around. Putting an arm around Aurelia, he said softly "Come on, let's go get a cup of coffee so he can take his time looking at it, okay?"
He wished that they could solve it all now and everything be over, but everything took time. Henri was slowly losing his patience, but he had to hold everything together for Aurelia. The more Henri thought about Pavel, the more memory he seemed to gain back. He remembered a few things that Aurelia told him about Pavel before whatever happened. The more he remembered, the angrier he became.
Masking everything, he knew it was more important to take care of the woman beside him, and find her little girl.

Aurelia looked between Sean and Henri, trying to understand what was going on. She felt like there was something unspoken going on between the two men, and that for some reason, Sean wanted her out of the room for a while. She wanted to argue, to insist on staying so that they could start making a plan to find Dani. But surprisingly, the mention of coffee made her stomach rumble. She hadn't eaten since before Dani was taken, and there was a raw, gnawing sensation in her stomach that she had been strategically ignoring. But now that they knew who had taken Dani, Aurelia couldn't help but feel a little more hopeful. They were still looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack, but at least they knew she was with Pavel... which made things seem a little easier somehow. And she wouldn't do Dani any good if she passed out from starvation.
"Um... OK," she said, biting her bottom lip. "I guess we can take a break and maybe get something to eat. But when we come back, we need to make a plan to figure out how we can find Dani. If Pavel wants me to come to him, I will go.... but we need to get Dani out of there, because I'm not staying with him."

Henri was relieved that Aurelia wasn't really putting up a fight about getting something to eat. He only hoped that they could find Dani soon. Glancing back to Sean, Henri nodded again. "Thanks," he said. "We'll be back shortly." He wanted to gave Sean as much time as he needed to do whatever he needed to do.
He started to lead Aurelia out of the MLE office and toward the cafeteria. "We'll figure something out how to get her." He didn't want Aurelia to have to go to Pavel at all and he would do his best to think of something else. If Aurelia went herself to go get Dani, who was to say that Pavel wouldn't be prepared to take both of them? Maybe Pavel wasn't that smart, or maybe he was.

Aurelia, meanwhile, was quiet. But her silence was a lie, because inside she was seething with anger and hatred for Pavel. How much more could he take from her? He had taken Henri away from her all those years ago. He had taken her freedom and her happiness. And now, after all this time, he thought he could walk back into her life and take away her daughter, the only good thing he (possibly) had ever given her? And he expected that she was just going to go with him after all that? That she was just going to passively go along with him and they could be husband and wife again? He was out of his mind. She'd kill him first.
The violent thought shocked Aurelia. Even when she had been living with him, and he had been hitting her on a regular basis, she never once thought about killing him, only getting away. She'd only ever considered hurting him once, and that was when he had hurt Dani. But he had pushed her too far this time. Taking Dani, scaring the hell out of her, not letting her know whether Dani was alive or dead... It was monstrous. If he had really wanted her back, the least he could have done is gone to her directly, and not involved Dani in it. The answer still would have been no, but at least she wouldn't hate him so completely.
By the time they reached the cafeteria, Aurelia was shaking with anger, and she turned to Henri and gripped his hands. "I'm going to kill him, Henri. So help me, if I get my hands on him, I'm going to kill him."

Henri stopped as Aurelia gripped his hands and turned to face her. He knew how much anger Aurelia had toward Pavel, it was evident in her eyes. He also wanted to do nothing more than kill Pavel. The more memories he gained back caused more dislike toward the man. Now Pavel had kidnapped Dani, and that fueled the fire.
"Je connais," he replied. "Je connais. We'll figure it all out. You and Dani are never going to be in any more danger once this is over." Hopefully Sean would figure something out and they could finally do something about Pavel. Henri squeezed Aurelia's hands. "This will all be over soon and no one else is going to get hurt, ever. Pavel will be caught and dealt with."

Sean was grateful to Henri for not asking questions, because he saw the hesitency in Aurelia's eyes. He waited until they were gone, and let out a long breath that he had been holding.
The letter on his desk could very well tell him where Danica was. Or if she was alive, what condition she was in... He would hate seeing anything happen to that poor girl. But since he was getting no leads anywhere else, he needed to do this. "Please let her be okay."
He pressed his palm flat against the paper, and for a moment, nothing happened. But then he felt the familiar headache coming on, and he slipped into a vision.
She was alive, at least. With two men, somewhere dark and empty. A warehouse, most likely. And while this didn't show him where she was, it certainly narrowed things down. Despite his head throbbing, he got up and ran towards the cafeteria. When he came to Aurelia and Henri, he put both hands forward as if stopping their barage of questions before it even began. "You're just going to have to trust me how I know this, but she's alive, and there are two men with her. Ms. Krizova, one of them fits your description of Pavel."

Aurelia wasn't about to question how he knew this, because he was giving her information that she wanted to hear. Dani was alive. Aurelia was sure that she would know if Dani was dead, but just the same, hearing it from Sean helped her to feel a lot better. The only thing she wasn't very happy to hear was that there was a second man involved. He was an unknown quantity, and to Aurelia, that meant he was a problem.
"This other man... can we figure out who he is? Is he wizard or muggle? If Pavel has a wizard helping him out, this could be more complicated..."

Sean just nodded, a little more life in his eyes today than had been there for the past couple of weeks. Not even counting this investigation, Sean had several other things on his plate.
"Yes... I'm already working on that, actually, and I know I've already asked this of you enough, but I am going to have to ask that you please just be patient while we try and figure this out. He is a wizard... but it doesn't change anything. I'm putting out a search on the warehouses in the area. If nothing turns up, we'll expand the search to muggle London. That letter.... was a good thing, Ms. Krizova. It helps."

It was very hard for a mother to be patient when her child was missing. Surely he could understand that. But at least she knew that Pavel had her, and that helped a little. It wasn't a good thing, but at least Dani was with the devil she knew instead of the one she didn't. And if Sean's information was to be believed, Dani was alive. Maybe she should have wondered how he knew that, but she didn't want to question news that she desperately had wanted to hear. Besides, although Pavel could be cruel and violent, Aurelia was reasonably certain that he would never kill Dani. She didn't put it past him to hurt her, but surely he was not capable of murder.
"I'm trying," Aurelia said, her voice shaking. "It's not your fault that this is taking so long. You've had very little to go on. I do appreciate what you're doing for her... I just... I need her home safe. Whatever it takes."
