She blushed slightly and looked from him to her books and back again while she considered the risk. She had never been put in detention while she was sure he had a desk with his name on it. Would she really want to risk her reputation and her record to spend time with Sirius and have some fun for once?? As she stared at him, she smiled, knowing the answer was yes.
"Alright. Let's go." She said, getting up and grabbing her hoodie that sat next to her. She was nervous about wandering the castle with a guy she barely knew and trying not to get caught at the same time. She looked at him curiously. "So, how do you know about all the secret passages in the castle?" She asked him, trying to keep conversation flowing. She wondered how often he explored the castle just for the hell of it.

Sirius grinned. He had actually expected her to say no at first, and he was planning to try a little harder to convince her. But one thing he'd noticed about the bookworm types, it didn't actually take much convincing to get them to break the rules. Remus was a perfect example, and so was Emmeline. Maybe with all that good behavior, there was a secret longing to be bad. Or maybe they just needed a little adventure.
"Cool," he said, grabbing her hand and leading her through the portrait hole and into the hallway. "You have to be quiet, though. If we're too loud, we'll wake up the other paintings in the halls, and that usually attracts Filch's attention. I'll show you one of the secret passageways that James and I found a few weeks ago."

She giggled slightly before clamping a hand over her mouth. She blushed when he took her hand and followed him out. She had so many questions for him but didn't want to talk to much because she didn't want to be the one to get them into trouble. She walked behind him slowly and thought about what she was doing. Why should she trust him to not get them both thrown into detention? He must do it all the time and if he gets caught as much as she though he did, it probably wouldn't bother him to get another attention.
Then again...if she were lucky they'd get detention together and get to spend more time together. She shook her head, not wanting to think like that. She liked him, but she knew she didn't have a shot and didn't want to get her hopes up. "So, you do this a lot don't you?" She said as they walked down a flight of stairs.

It was true, detention wasn't really a big deal to Sirius. And he and James were probably responsible for more than half of all points deducted from Gryffindor. Rules, in his opinion, were meant to be broken. Still, part of the thrill of breaking the rules was in not getting caught. He was pretty good at sneaking around and knew what he had to do to keep out of trouble. Filch and his cat were the biggest risks, of course, but he didn't consider them a problem. Filch made a lot of noise when he walked, so it was easy to hear him coming, and the cat couldn't do anything on her own. She was like an early warning to clear the area before Filch arrived.
"Oh, yeah," he whispered, glancing back at Vanessa. "In fact, most of the portraits are used to seeing me and they don't make a sound anymore. Don't worry. We won't get caught."

Vanessa grinned at Sirius, excited at the possibility of getting caught even though he already said they wouldn't. There was still a chance that someone would spot them. She wasn't the type to ever do anything wrong. She always felt like she didn't belong in Gryffindor because she had no courage or bravery. But she felt pretty brave tonight because of him. Normally she wouldn't even be talking to someone like him but she was surprising herself tonight.
"Where are we going anyways?" She whispered to Sirius in curiosity. "Are you gonna show me all the passage ways you've found? How many are there?" She giggled nervously. "Sorry, I ramble a bit when I get nervous." She said with a smile at him. "How many times have you gotten in trouble, anyways?"

Sirius, on the other hand, was almost too casual about the whole thing. Breaking rules was practically second nature for him. But it wasn't fun to do it by himself... That was why he wanted to drag Vanessa along for the ride. She was the "good girl" type, but it was funny to see how easily she went along with him.
"Yeah, James and I found a really cool passageway last week. You don't mind stairs, do you? This one takes you from the fifth floor all the way down to the Dungeons. It's a great shortcut to the kitchens... and I totally could go for some hot chocolate and a cookie. What do you say? Are you up for it?"

Vanessa smiled at the sound of getting hot chocolate with Sirius. She nodded her approval, even though the sound of stairs wasn't that appealing. It's not like she wasn't already used to it. She had been going to Hogwarts for two years and there are stairs everywhere.
"Yeah, I could really go for some hot chocolate right now." She said, excitedly. She wondered if she would get to do this with him again sometime. She doubted she would have the courage with anyone else. There was something about Sirius Black that made her want to do something crazy. Well, crazy for her would be going for food in the middle of the night. Crazy for him was probably much, much worse.

"Perfect!" Sirius said. "I'm starving."
Like any boy his age, he was pretty much always hungry, and the chips he'd been eating earlier just weren't doing the job. He wanted something sweet, and a cookie and hot chocolate sounded like just the ticket. Besides, he could show off the sloping staircase that he and James had discovered behind a nearby tapestry. Getting back would be a little harder... the stairs were very steep and while they were fine to walk down, it was a little too much to walk back up again. They'd have to walk up the long way and risk being seen. Of course, for Sirius, that was part of the fun.
They were out of the common room now, and had walked down the hallway toward a narrow corridor that seemed more like a large crack in the wall. "It's right down this way. Stay close behind me, there's only enough room to walk single file."
