Getting the call from Angelique, Daniel dropped what he was doing and headed straight for the murder scene. Once again, the person had attacked without warning and before he or Sean could really find out too much about anything. They had been consulting their father on a symbol but it hadn't shed too much light on the subject, not yet anyway.
Arriving at the scene, Daniel made a bee line for Angelique. The symbol was in view and it made his stomach drop. Approaching the Head Auror, he greeted her. "Is it as bad as last time," he asked with an eyebrow raised.

Getting the message from Angelique, Issac, followed by Elizabeth, left the Ministry in a hurry to get to the scene. Once again there was an attack and Issac just didn't understand it. "Great," he mumbled under his breath. Elizabeth didn't say anything as they left. Today meant more altercations to memories. That was fairly tricky most of the time and today was no exception.
Following Elizabeth to the house, Issac let her do the talking with Angelique while he waited for orders.

Receiving the summons from Angelique, Sean cursed quietly. They were too late- he hadn't slept much since the first murder, wanting to do everything possible to catch the killer before the second murder. Or the third or however many more there would be.
Daniel was off in an instant, but Sean held back for a moment, having a few more words with his father over coffee. It was not a nice and relaxed moment by any means, but the boys preferred to talk with their father when Ellen was asleep or out. She was a muggle, after all, and Sean didn't want to scare her with what was going on in the magical world. The muggle world was terrifying enough.
He apparated shortly after, coming up behind Dan just as he approached Angelique. His eyes were on the symbol, and he started to walk inside, leaving Dan to get the details.

What Rutger dug out from under the woman's finger nails was some sort of gritty, grey black substance. It seemed much closer to the consistancy of ashs than what he was actually looking for, skin. It was much like she had been digging through the fireplace and had not properly cleaned her hands afterwards.

"It's worse," Angelique was saying to Dan just as Sean apparated. "But I didn't get a very good look--"
She stopped as Sean started into the house, and she put out her hand to halt him momentarily. "Wait a second. Before you go in there, you should know... I am no longer officially handling this case. Apparently, this killer has been striking all across Europe, and they sent in some experts from Germany, who've apparently been tracking this killer for some time. They're going to be the lead investigators on this case, so while you're on scene, you'll have to report to them. Go in and find out what they need from you, and I'm going to talk with the Obliviators and work on damage control with the muggles."

Hearing that Angelique was no longer handling the case, Daniel looked to Sean and then rolled his eyes. He didn't mind working with Angelique, mainly because he knew what to expect from her, but with these two other people, he didn't know.
"Okay," he said with a nod. "We'll look around and then see what they say." The fact that she said that this scene was worse did not just pass his ears. It made his stomach sink. The last scene was horrific enough, now there was something worse?
"Good luck," Daniel said to Angelique as he passed by her and headed into the house. Walking up to the other two people, he froze as he saw the scene in front of him. Could these murders get any worse? He cleared his throat as his eyes were drawn to the other two people in the house. "Any idea who did this," he asked with his eyebrows raised.

Rutger straightened up again, the sample from the woman's fingernails now enclosed in a small vial. He didn't have high hopes for the debris, but it was worth checking anyway. Slowly he turned to the new voice that was speaking to him, and it was all he could do not to roll his eyes at his question.
"Yes, I know precisely who did this," Rutger said bluntly. "Or at least one of them. There were two attackers; she always has a partner, although her last partner is rumored to be deceased... after he stopped her from killing me."
He shot a look at Alana, clearly annoyed at all the interruptions. The trouble with coming to another country and working with their resources, their personnel, was that he had to keep making introductions. It was distracting, having to play nice while he wanted to be working on his investigation.
"I am Rutger Kilborn, and this is my partner, Alana Kalb. We've been tracking this killer for quite some time. Her name is Kryshna, and I am afraid we do not know much else about her, except that she is small, female, and is suspected to be in her late teens or early 20s. She wears a mask. If you are going to assist with the investigation, I will make sure you are given a full briefing tomorrow at the Ministry. For now, I need someone to photograph the scene--every inch of it. Have you a camera?"

Well, so far Daniel wasn't a fan of this Rutger person. He fought hard to bite his tongue from mouthing off to this man because Daniel being Daniel, he could find almost anything to smart off about.
He wanted to ask about the murder's symbol but by the looks of it, they all seemed to know hardly anything. "Daniel Leviner," he said introducing hisself. "And my brother Sean is here too. We're part of the MLE." At the question of a camera, he raised an eyebrow."Does it really look like I carry a camera," he couldn't help but ask. Maybe it wasn't the brightest thing for him to ask but he nor Sean ever carried a camera. They were always very good at remembering everything the way it was, every detail.

He'd been rude, and he knew it, but he couldn't entirely bring himself to feel badly about it. He was still standing over a woman's body, a woman who had been alive and breathing just a few hours earlier. And every moment he had to stand here talking to someone was another moment longer that her killer would walk free.
He shot a helpless look at Alana. She was better at dealing with people than he was; if it were up to him, it would just be himself doing all of the investigating alone, or with Alana. It had taken him some time to get used to having her there with him, helping him. But it helped to have a fresh eye on things, someone who saw things differently and who might therefore see things that he might miss. He had come to rely on Alana, and he might eventually come to rely on this boy who now stood in front of him, even though he looked so very young.
Rutger sighed, rubbing the scar on his chest. It still hurt sometimes, the spot where Kryshna had stuck the poisoned blade in his chest. It was the poison, they said; even with the antidote, a trace of it still remained in his system, causing a sort of phantom pain.
"Fine," he said to the boy, his voice softening somewhat. "Look for fingerprints or footprints, or any other physical evidence the killers might have left behind. But do not remove anything from its place--anything you find, show to me or Alana first."

Alana returned the look, knowing that Rutger wasn't the people person of the two. He was the one that Alana let deal with getting yelled at for the times the two of them were ever reprimanded, and in turn Alana was left to deal with people. It seemed a fair trade off for her, since she didn't do too well getting yelled at.
"Try not to walk around too much. It wouldn't do good to leave our own footprints and call them evidence." Alana said to the man, and carefully walked over to Rutger. She sensed his annoyance with more people coming in, but she knew it was something they both would have to get used to. Those who worked with the British ministry weren't just going to roll over, it seems. Alana would rather have been working with just Rutger as well, seeing as the two of them knew the most about Kryshna.
"Are you alright?" Alana asked, noticing Rutger favoring his chest. She had in her hand the camera she packed with her just in case Rutger needed it.

Rutger relaxed a little when she came up to him. Although he had been annoyed when they were first partnered together, he really had come to trust and rely on her very much. They made a good pair, and she was just about the only person that could calm him down when he was tense.
"I'm fine," he said in a low voice. "Just a little twinge. I still get them sometimes."
He looked around the scene again grimly. Although it was necessary to go over the scene carefully, he knew full well that they weren't really going to find anything that would tell them something he didn't already know; that Kryshna was responsible. The only thing he might find out from the scene was the identity of her latest partner. The more important things--where she had gone, where she might strike next--those would still be elusive.
He turned to the young man he had been so short with earlier. "Do you know anything of the victims? Their identities, their activities, their loyalties?"

As he looked around the house, it was fairly clean with the obvious exception of the blood spilled. A chill ran up Daniel's spine as he saw the head on the plate. He knew who it was and his stomach sank even more.
"The first murder here was Tina Korenso. She worked at St. Mungo's. Reports said that she had been acting strangely before she was put into bits. I know that she was well liked according to the people we were able to speak to. This house, I know belongs to the Blanchets. Tony was a very strong person against the Death Eaters," he replied without a breath as he looked back to Rutger.
Things were starting to click. "The Dark Mark has been shown over both murders." Daniel rubbed the back of his neck. "So, I'm guessing that she is working with the Death Eaters now." This was just terrific. The war that most of the Wizarding World feared was coming closer. The only thing that wasn't clicking with him was the mark. Was it just her special way of saying she had been there?

"Death Eaters," Rutger repeated. He knew a little about the organization known as the Death Eaters, and the shadowy figure who called himself Lord Voldemort. After all, Lord Voldemort had spent some of his time in other parts of Europe, and although he was concentrating much of his efforts in Britain, it was by no means limited to Britain. However, Rutger didn't really pay that much attention to the political situations... he just wanted to focus on catching killers. He knew about the Dark Mark, and he vaguely knew about their beliefs, but he had not paid enough attention to them. It had always been the other symbol that he had focused on.
"She has been working with these Death Eaters for quite some time," he continued. "The Dark Mark, as you call it, has appeared above the scenes of a number of murders, but not all of the ones that she is believed to be responsible for. It is a new alliance..."
He trailed off then, thinking. Was she a supporter of these Death Eaters? Or was she doing this for another reason?
He had always tried to figure out her motivation for the killings, and he thought he understood. Now he wasn't so sure. He could already see that it was going to be a long night of research and studying and making notes in the command center.

Alana looked up from taking pictures when she heard mention of the Death Eaters. She had heard rumors of a group by that name existing in the months before she moved back to Germany, but she hadn't known if they were true or not. Since the murders had begun taking place, Alana had fallen back on keeping tabs on the Death Eaters, but now she realised how stupid it was for her to let that group slide away from her radar. It seemed now, Alana thought, that there was such a group, and it now included Kryshna for sure.
"But why use two marks? Why not go only with her own, as she's been leaving, or the Dark Mark?" Alana wondered out loud. She knew no one in the room had a definite answer, or unless she didn't think anyone did, she was just thinking out loud.

Rutger was staring down at the woman's remains, his mind working furiously. The seemingly random nature of the murders had always troubled him. He thought of Kryshna as a typical serial killer, but they usually had a "type" that they would go for. Some would choose young women, some would choose young men, some would choose people of loose morals.... But Kryshna always chose respectable people. He'd assumed that were her pattern, but maybe it was more than that. Maybe these people were being targeted for their political beliefs.
Glancing up at Dan and his brother, Rutger suddenly had a new appreciation for what they might be able to contribute to this investigation. In Germany, Voldemort and the Death Eaters were just shadowy figures, whispered threats. It was here in England where most of his reign of terror had taken place. This meant that the locals understood a little more about this aspect of the case.
When Alana spoke aloud, Rutger simply replied, "Her symbol is her calling card. She wants us to know she was here. The other.... the other symbol is primarily there to instill fear. These Death Eaters... they've been responsible for a number of deaths here, correct?" This last question was directed at Dan.

"Dan...." Sean gave his brother a look when he snapped about having a camera. Dan's mouth got him in trouble sometimes, and Sean was just subtly telling him to cool off. He noticed a similar dynmaic going on between the Aurors. He was with Dan about not wanting them here. He appreciated the Aurors and everything they did, but there was a fine line in their job descriptions, and he felt like they might hinder the process this early on.
Still, if they knew of the murderer, they might provide insight that Sean and Dan didn't have yet. And it was not a good idea to go making enemies right away.
The question, though directed at his brother, was one Sean decided to answer. He'd been too quiet, and felt he should make his presence known here. "The Death Eaters have been... active, of late, yes. Though the Ministry has been quite effective in catching a few of them." It was just difficult when you didn't know who your enemy was.

Rutger looked beyond the first boy and over to the second one, who was now speaking. AS much as he liked to think himself the premiere authority on Kryshna's case, he realized now that he had been missing some information all along. While he had known about the meaning of the Dark Mark, he had mostly dismissed it. Now he realized that it was another important piece of the puzzle. Perhaps in working with the local ministry, they could put together a profile of the kind of person who Kryshna might target next and catch her before she could kill again.
"All right," he said. "Tomorrow in the office, we should go over some details of these death eaters and examine the profiles of the victims thus far. I have records I've brought in from Germany, and we can go over them together. In the meantime, just continue to scour the scene for any kind of physical evidence. There's not likely to be much... Kryshna is a professional. But any little bit you can find it worth it."

(I think your good to go on evidence and what not. I'll start writing up the next murder, which will be an actual interactive one. I'll send out a message to those involved in the investigation to explain, which I think is Rutger, Alana, Sean and Daniel. Anyone else?)
