"Told you," Brady said with a light amused look. He picked up his sandwich and unwrapped it as he rolled his eyes. Hearing June's distracted like voice caused him to look over at her. Brady didn't really answer Gary as he looked her, then he looked over to Gary. There was an almost questioning look on Brady's face.
He put his sandwich back down. Brady wasn't really the type to go out and drink or party, or whatever. He was always odd looking if he did go out. No one had really seen Brady 'loose'. That would have been an amusing sight to be sure. "I don't know about fun Gary," he said. "Before the night is over I could end up in trouble myself, knowing that I was out with you." Brady gave a light amused look.

Gary also wondered sometimes why he and Brady were friends. It seemed like they had almost nothing in common, except for June. But Gary liked to believe that he brought the fun into Brady's life. After all, what was life without a little laughter?
"Oh, come on. Do you really think I'd get you into trouble?" he said, waving him off. "Well, OK, I might, but in my opinion, you could use a little trouble."
He glanced again at June, frowning slightly. He felt a little out of place in this party, since June was not acting like herself. He felt like he was carrying the conversation, and while that wasn't something he normally had a problem with, it bothered him to see June so out of sorts.

June glanced up just in time to see both of the guys giving her an odd look. She sighed.
She was content to let them carry on their conversation without her interference, and they were trying to, at least, but she was going to get really uncomfortable with those looks all day.
"Stop looking at me like that," she said, raising an eyebrow while her fingers gripped her coffee cup. "I already told you, I'm just really tired. I'll jump in when the coffee kicks in, all right? But Brady, you could stand to have a little of what I like to call 'wildly inappropriate' in your life."

Gary raised his hands up innocently. "I'm not looking like anything," he said. He looked back at Brady, raising his eyebrows meaningfully. Maybe Brady had some kind of idea what was going on with June, and Gary meant to ask him about it later.
"See, Brady, she agrees. You need to get out. And who's more 'wildly inappropriate' than me? Maybe we could all go out and have a little happy hour thing. I was thinking of inviting the cute blonde who works at the reception desk. What do you think... do I have a chance with her?"
For added effect, he put on his most charming smile and flexed his arm a little for effect. He looked ridiculous, but he was hoping to get a laugh out of June, at least.

"Wildly inappropriate," Brady questioned. He knew that June wasn't going to talk about what was going on with her. He knew that if she wanted them to know, she would tell them. Plus, he knew better than to question her. Something said that it had to do with Talon and he knew that she got touchy when he talked about him before. The change of subject was good.
As Gary flexed his arm a little, Brady gave a scoff before a light laugh. "Good luck," he said with a shake of his head. That was something he did quite a lot around Gary. And the man sitting in front of him was one of the few people that could make him laugh. For those that didn't know him, and those few that did, laughter from him was somewhat a rarity.

June rolled her eyes at Gary. "I think she's seeing someone, actually. But there are a lot of single girls in the Portkey Office." Granted, most of them were in their sixties or so, and Gary knew this, so she hoped he would know that she was joking as well. She sipped on her coffee after that, watching the both of them.
Then, almost abruptly, she looked up again and nudged Gary. "Let's do it tonight. Are you free?"
It wasn't like she told Talon when she was going to be home, and she wasn't actually likely to start many conversations with him anytime soon. Not until he cooled down a little. And she wanted a little spontaneity in her life.

Gary put on a goofy, exaggerated grin. "Really? You don't say... So you think Edna will go out with me, then? Hot dog, it's my lucky night!"
He clapped his hands together, as if he was excited. And he was, actually, but not about the prospect of dating Edna. No, the fact that June was willing to come out with them for a happy hour--and hadn't mentioned inviting Fang along--was definitely cause to celebrate. After all, if it was just him dragging Brady out for drinks, it would most likely be a very dull night. June would at least keep things lively. And with the mood she was in, it seemed like she could use a little fun as well.
"Eh, on second thought, I think I'll give Edna the night off. That way, I can flirt with a few pretty girls while I'm there. Now, come on, Brady. If June's going, you've got to come. What do you say?"

June's sudden announcement that she wanted to go out tonight made Brady's attention drift to her. He looked at her curiously, half ignoring Gary's reaction to June's comment. It was odd that she just suddenly decided to go out at night for drinks. Then again, maybe it wasn't. He knew something was wrong. Even though June was an open book, the words were hard to really read. One could just get the just of the story, but not the full detail.
Brady looked back to Gary after a moment's contemplation about June and raised an eyebrow. He knew that he couldn't say no to either one of them. "I'm not doing anything," he said with a shrug. "So, I'll go." It would be an amusing night to say the least, as it usually was watching Gary attempt to work his 'charm'.

June even smiled at Gary's comment. It was really hard to stay in a sour mood when Gary was around, no matter how much you wanted to. He could bring the smiles out in people. When he wanted, that was.
"Edna always did say you had a cute arse." She sipped at her coffee, peering at Brady over the top of her cup to see if he would agree to go or not, and she tilted her head slightly when he agreed. "Good. I'll make sure I don't put in any over time tonight, then." She glanced at Gary. "Wonder what Brady's like when he's smashed?"

Gary raised an eyebrow at this. "Oh, really?" he said, and twisted around in his seat, as if to check out his own arse. "Hm, you're right, it's not bad. Not that you can tell in these robes. Maybe I should get tighter robes, so I can show it off. Why let Edna have all the fun, right?"
He chuckled to himself, then took a few more bites of his sandwich. The air at the table seemed lighter now, and he was feeling more at ease. Whatever was bothering June seemed to have faded, or at least he was keeping her distracted from it.
"I bet Brady's a messy drunk," he said, surveying his friend. "Relaxed... maybe too relaxed. I bet just about anything will slip out of his mouth."

June smiled lightly. "Aw, you're probably right. I love the talkative drunks, too. They're always so sweet." She was teasing Brady a little, mostly to keep her mind off of Talon. She may have seemed like she was feeling better, but it was really a combination of Gary keeping her distracted and her hiding it.
But when she thought about it, remember him slapping her like he had.... she felt the distinct urge to cry, or to be really angry, and she just didn't know what to do with that. Without thinking about it, she rubbed her cheek a little, sipping on her coffee again, trying to keep herself in a better mood.
"Well, I'm excited. Is it time to leave work yet?" she asked with a slight laugh. Then, to Brady, she added, "But really... what kind of drunk are you?"

As the two people in front of him continued to talk, Brady started to eat his sandwich. Sometimes he wondered how he ended up with friends like them but their actions were clear as to how.
He looked amusedly at Gary as June spoke of Edna. She was one of the infamous ladies in the Portkey office and one of nicest, in Brady's opinion.
However, as their conversation turned to what kind of drunk he was, he looked at the with an odd look as he took a bite out of his sandwich. Once his food was swallowed, he answered, "I dunno." Brady gave a shrug. "I've never been drunk before." He was cautious to let that bit of information slip knowing Gary. "And I don't really plan on it tonight. A few drinks and that's all." In fact, Brady only had a few drinks in his life. He hadn't ever gone out and gotten drunk before.

June shook her head. "You have got to be kidding me. You've never been drunk?"
She waited a moment before she let herself smile again. "Well, good for you."
Under the table, however, she lightly nudged Gary's leg and gave him a sidelong glance. This clearly meant they needed to get Brady absolutely hammered tonight. He needed to be corrupted, after all, and it would certainly get June's mind off of things. Hell, she could stand to be hammered tonight as well.

Gary stared at Brady incredulously. "How have I not corrupted you yet?" he said. "I'm a bad friend. I should have taken you out for drinks sooner. You need to have a little fun for once... the kind you won't remember in the morning."
Looking back at June, he shook his head, but he was grinning. Clearly he was thinking the same thing she was. "What are we going to do with him? Either we have to corrupt him, or he's going to have us acting like him. And don't get me wrong, buddy, but that just ain't happening."

Another odd expression crossed Brady's face. "I've had no reason to go out and get drunk," he said plainly. He took another bite of his sandwich as he looked between the two as they obviously exchanged expressions.
Brady mumbled something under his breath about Gary being crazy and never able to act like him. The mumbling however was not loud enough for the other two people at the table to hear. He had a bad feeling about tonight. They would let him have one to many and there was no telling what would happen.
"What's wrong with me," he asked with a curious boyish like confused look on his face.

"You love us. That's what's wrong with you," June said, her tone naturally, but unintentionally flirty. "You'll have fun tonight. I promise."
She finished her coffee with that remark and shrugged her shoulders. "Well, boys... I've only got another couple of minutes before I have to be back at my desk. I think they're sending me out today to get another abandoned portkey. In Knockturn Alley of all places. I hate going there so much."

"Yeah, you'll have a great time tonight, I promise," Gary said. "Nothing too crazy, though. Only because I know you'll never go for it... and because if you get too messed up, I'll have to be the responsible one, and... well, we can't have that."
He rolled his eyes at this part. He wanted Brady and June to have fun, but he wasn't too keen on being the designated apparator, either. Brady was more the type to do that.
"Really? They make you go to Knockturn Alley all by yourself? You should bring an escort." He nudged Brady at this, trying to get him to volunteer for the job. "Even I won't go down there, and I like sleazy places."

He rolled his eyes. Brady doubted that he was going to drink too much but then again he couldn't under estimate Gary's words. If the right ones were said, well Brady could probably get a little hammered. Or maybe, there wouldn't have to be any words said. He wasn't even sure what to expect from the night out.
Brady was about to make a small joke about how to bad June didn't have to go to the Leaky Cauldron again but he kept his mouth shut as Gary nudged him. He mumbled a 'I bet you like sleazy places' in his own joking manner under his breath before turning to June. Brady didn't mean anything by it, he was just attempting to joke around. "I can go with you," he said after he cleared his throat. "Knockturn Alley is not the safest of places anyway." It didn't bother Brady if he had to go down there. In fact, he wasn't even sure what he was really afraid of.

June sighed. "Yeah, you'd think they'd send Giles or someone like him. He's 300 lbs of pure muscle and intimidation. But no, they pick the short, tiny girl to go to the dangerous places. I think it's a plot."
She missed the nudge that Gary gave to Brady, or the way he responded to it, and was about to tease Gary about it and tell him he should be her escort when Brady offered. She hesitated.
And she didn't know why she hesitated, but there it was. Finally, she nodded. "All right. If you're not busy. The place gives me the creeps as it is, so I wouldn't mind an MLE officer to protect me." She finished this sentence with a flash of a smile.

The hesitation didn't go unnoticed. He wasn't sure why June was hesitanting. If she didn't want him to go, that would have been alright, he wouldn't have a problem with that. Although, Brady would make sure that she would have made it back alright.
"I'm not busy," he stated. There wasn't much to do in the office instead of just sitting there. It would be a lot more interesting to go down to Knockturn Alley. A smile spread across Brady's face and he put his sandwich up and took a bite out of it to hide how a little more brighter it was. "I'll be ready whenever you are," he added after he swallowed. "But I'm not rushing you."
