Ariel was finally settled into her apartment, and she decided to invite her friends over for some dinner and just to spend time with everyone. She had been so busy finding a job that she hadn't time for those who mattered to her, so she put aside all her plans for today and got her apartment ready.
The cold food was already out on the table, that being the various salads she put together, and vegetables and dip to go with it. She didn't really keep track of what her friends liked to eat, and since she was inviting so many, she decided she would make many different things and hope there'd be something everyone would like.
"Well," Ariel said aloud to herself as she sat on her couch, "nothing to do but wait."

Brandon, when not hanging out with his sister or at work, spent a lot of time asleep on his couch in the apartment he shared with Maura. That was exactly what he was doing when he got the invite to Ariel's apartment.
Excited to see his friend again (for he hadn't in a while, being away in Romaina) Brandon quickly got up and got dressed to see Ariel.
After getting dressed and prepped at lightning speed, Brandon got back to the note to see where he had to aparate to. When he saw her address, Brandon couldn't help but laugh.
"She's right next door!" he chuckled to himself. All that lighning speed for nothing. He left a quick note for Maura in case she came home and wondered why Brandon wasn't napping, and left the apartment to head to Ariel's.
The door was cracked oven a bit, but he still knocked before opening it. "Ariel?" Brandon called out. Seeing her he smiled widely. "Why didn't you tell me you were moving into the same building as me, let alone next door!" Brandon laughed, a smile plastered on his face.

Ariel smiled widely when she saw Brandon walk in. It had been what seemed like a lifetime since she had seen him, and she was glad he was the first to arrive. She figured it would allow for some time for the two of them to catch up without everyone else talking; it would be quiet.
"I wanted it to be a surprize for you! Since you haven't been home recently, I didn't want to tell you I was next door and having you rush home to see me, because, let's face it, I'm worth rushing home for!" She said with a laugh, and pulled Brandon into a hug. She always joked with her friends that she was the best thing in the world, even though she didn't think that. She thought she was far from it, really, but now wasn't the time to dwell on that.
"So how are you? How was the trip?" She said, leading him to the couch and sitting down.

Brandon hugged Ariel back tightly. "Oh my dear I would always run home for you," Brandon joked back with a wink. Ariel was one of his closest friends, and he was thrilled to have her as a neighbor.
"Romania?" Brandon asked. "Eh, it was alright. Lots of dragons and stuff like that..." His job in Romaina was a little private. He was hired by a private company who was building a dragon taming business on grounds that had been cursed back in the early 1700s. It took him a while and a lot of will power, but Brandon was sure he had broken it. In the midst of it all, the owner of the company had let him get up close and personal with one of their dragons. "Look at this!" Brandon said excitedly, pulling back his sleve and showing her the scorch marks on his arm. "Pretty neat huh?"
"how bout you?" Brandon asked. "Hows the job search? Make any new friends? Meet any new guys?"Brandon asked curiously.

Ariel gasped when she saw the sorch mark, and thought that only Brandon could be excited about that. If it were her, Ariel would be in bed crying for a week; pain wasn't really her thing, and the mark on Brandon's arm looked plently painful.
"Job search is a negative, I've found nothing that I really wanted to take. Plus, I've shown up late for a couple of interviews, so I'm sure that didn't help me any. And, Brandon, now you're starting to sound like my mother!" Ariel said with a laugh. Her mother, every time they talked, asked Ariel about the guys she met, if she was dating anyone, when Ariel would settle down; it was all starting to annoy Ariel.
"I met someone. His name's Daniel, and he should be here tonight. I sent out the invitation to him, so I hope he'll come. I like him, but we're just friends." Ariel replied, deciding not to leave one of her best friends in the dark.

"It;s not that bad," Brandon said, smiling as he rolled down his sleve. "it was only like a day in the hospital." Heaven knew he had worse work-related injuries.
"Aw you'll find a job soon enough," Ariel was just someone who didn't know what he wanted to do yet. Brandon knew that he wanted to be a curse-breaker ever since Maura decided, in fact, it kind of came to them at the same time.
"And did you tell your mother you met this Daniel guy?" Brandon asked, knowing that THAT was what her mother was bugging her about. "And I can't wait to meet him! Kole and I will make him feel right at home," Brandon grinned wickedly.
"So Me, Kole, this Daniel guy...anyone else invited? Or are we the special ones?"

Ariel glared at him, catching the smile on his face. "No you won't! Don't scare him away, or I'll move far away and never speak to you again!" She said with a laugh. She knew she couldn't leave any of her friends, and since she was so close to Brandon, it'd be too hard on Ariel and she'd be back in a day.
"And, no, I haven't told my mom. I haven't talked to her in a while, really...okay, so it's been three days. I'm not sure how to tell her, since every other guy I told her about was, to her, someone I was going to marry, and my mother therefore began planning the wedding. You know that you and Kole are the special ones to me, always, but I invited my mother as well, and Maia and a new girl I just met, Maggie. I don't know if you know any of them or not." Ariel said.

Maggie was still finding her way around the area, so she was running a little late. She had met Ariel and had a nice talk with her the other day, and when the other woman invited her for a dinner party, Maggie almost turned her down. But she knew it was a good idea to get out more and socialize. Hopefully, Ariel's friends would all be nice.
Finally she found the Twilight apartments in London and made her way up to the building. She had no trouble finding the lifts up to the second floor, and the layout was rather similiar to her own apartment building in Hogsmeade, so she easily found Ariel's apartment. Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door.

Ariel turned from her conversation with Brandon and stared at the door as someone knocked. "Ah, there's someone else now!" She said, and excused herself from Brandon's company to answer the door. She saw it was Maggie, a woman she had met only a few days ago. It wasn't like Ariel to invite someone over to her house when she just met them, but she had a good feeling about Maggie; she seemed like the type of person that Ariel would get along with.
"Maggie! Welcome; please, come in!" She said, a smile on her face. "I'm glad you could make it; you're one of the first to arrive." Ariel added, and closed the door after Maggie was inside. "This is my friend Brandon," She said, turning from Maggie to look at Brandon, and introduced him to Maggie.

"I would never scare him away, Kole would, you should warn him..." Brandon chuckled. "We'll just have a nice, man-to-man chat. You know, quidditch, draggons, beer, the stuff guys talk about."
"Well, did you invite your mom?" Brandon asked, secretly terrified. He mom intimidated him slightly. "She's not still trying to set me up with you is she?"
Brandon stood up when Ariel went to get the door. "Nice to meet you Maggie," Brandon said with a smile, offering his hand.

Kole had actually finished his paperwork, all of it, so that he didn't have a reason to stay at the Auror office longer than necessary. He was rather excited to have a get together with his friends. Being a new Auror meant it was rather difficult to keep friendships. Thankfully, Brandon was out of town just as often as he was unavailable and Ariel was rather patient with them both.
When he reached her apartment, he realized that she lived next door to Brandon. "Lucky girl," Kole chuckled. The front door was open. "Hello everyone!" Kole said, sliding in the door.

"Yeah, I hope my mom will come. She's still upset that I don't have a job," Ariel replied, and laughed at Brandon's expression when he asked if they were still trying to be set-up. "And, yes, she drops hints every time I see her that she wants me and you to get together." Ariel said with a laugh. It's not that she disliked the idea, it's just that Brandon was one of her best friends, and she really couldn't see him as anything but a friend.
She looked over to the door when it opened. A huge grin spread across her face as Kole walked in. She didn't get to see him much because of his job, so when she did she was rather clingy to him. "Kole! I'm so happy you're here!" She said, walking over to him. "Now give me a hug," She said, her tone rather demanding.

"Hello Ariel!" Kole said, reaching out and giving her a big bear hug. "How are you? Nice plcae i see," he winked and looked around, deciding that the place was very - Ariel - and Kole knew she'd be happy here.
"Brandon!" Kole said, stepping toward Brandon and shaking his hand before noticing there was someone else in the room. "Oh, my apologies, I'm Kole, Kole Hobbs."

Maggie stood back, feeling a little awkward. She was not particularly good with crowds, or strangers... or men. And while logic told her that these guys seemed like decent guys, and she trusted Ariel, she still had a terrible tendency to distrust men, especially if she didn't know them. She hoped she could keep a distance from them, because she didn't know if she would be able to keep from being a little defensive. Had Ariel invited anyone else to this party?
She held a tray of brownies, which of course she had not made herself. She had no real domestic skills, and was particularly bad at cooking.
She was just about to slip into a chair near the corner when one of the men turned to her and spoke. She took a breath, then replied, "Hello, Kole. I'm Maggie." She was thankful that she was still holding the brownies, so she wouldn't have to shake his hand.

It was fortunate for Maggie that Maia was on her way. Unfortunately, she had a bad habit of being late for things. Maia wished she could be more like Chase sometimes; he was far more organized than she ever was. He liked to joke that she did it on purpose, so that she could be "fashionably late." But the truth was, Maia was often scattered and took a long time getting ready--deciding what to wear, what to bring, etc. Often she would also get lost on her way to some places, if she had never been there before.
As usual, she was running late. She had also opted to bring some food. Her item was a sort of mexican bean dip with cheese and salsa, which was rather well known among her friends. She very seldom had leftovers. She apparated to Ariel's apartment building and was making her way to the elevator at that very moment.

Daniel finished grading his papers, deciding on giving a passing grade to one paper titled Toasters: Need There Be Toast? before locking up his office and changing for Ariel's party. For now, he and Ariel were just friends. Daniel liked her, and he had a good time when they first met.
He apparated the her apartment building just in time to see someone in the elevator. "Hold the elevator!" Daniel called out, running to meet it. "Thanks," Daniel said smileing and pressing the 2 for the second floor.

Brandon sensed that he and Kole were making Ariel's guest uncomfortable. He didn't blame her, together, Kole and Brandon were pretty intimidating. "It's nice to meet you Maggie," Brandon said for the both of them. "Kole and I are going to give ourselves a tour of the apartment, you two just enjoy your company before the others arrive." He grabbed Kole's arm and dragged him along.

Ariel felt a pang of guilt inviting a lot of her other friends over all at once. She knew Maggie was new to these parts, and Ariel knew she should have had little parties to introduce Maggie to everyone at different times and then have a huge party.
As soon as the boys went away from the two girls, Ariel turned to Maggie. "You can put the brownies on the table, wherever you can find room. I'm sorry, I should have done this differently. They're not bad guys though. Don't worry, I had the same reaction when I first met them, too." Ariel said, hoping this wasn't the last time she would see Maggie. She didn't know her too well, but Ariel was always up to meeting new friends, so she wouldn't want to scare Maggie away now.

Daniel rocked on his feet in the elevator. He wondered what would happen at Ariel's get together that she was throwing. He had only met her a few days ago, and he hoped he got along with her other friends.
The elevator stopped and, ever the gentleman, Daniel let the woman in the elevator out first. They walked down the hall for a bit before it finally clicked in his head that they were going to the same apartment.
"Are you going to Ariel's?" Daniel asked finally, feeling slightly foolish for not figuring it out sooner.

Maia was the kind of girl who made friends easily where ever she went, and normally she would have been chatting up a storm with the random elevator guy. But because she was late, she was a little bit more scattered than she usually would be. She didn't even notice right away when it seemed that they were walking to the same place. But when he mentioned Ariel, she began to laugh.
"Yes, yes, I am. I'm so sorry... I wasn't even paying attention. I might have walked right by her apartment if you hadn't said something. Are you a friend of Ariel's?"
