She let out a small laugh. "I'll try to be, just because I really want to go." Allaire looked at him teasingly. She liked the idea that they teased each other. It was fun and quite honestly, she looked forward to it. Every time they would speak, it never failed that she would end up smiling.
"And if you are feeling like it, you should definitely read aloud sometime today. It's been really quiet this weekend, except for what went on at home."

"Yeah...we could probably do that." Did he feel like it? Hell he felt like doing a lot of things with her. Were they good for him? Probably not. In fact being around her was likely bad for his health, and even worse for his heart. There was no way her father was going to let her be with a scoundrel like him, and what should happen if he hurt her...that would kill him.
Frowning suddenly he shook his head, "Actually you know...I might be busy later this afternoon...raincheck?"

Allaire put on a smile. She liked to hear him read aloud. It put her at ease and made everything that was going on disappear. She didn't care if he ever brought up the fact that he was a scoundrel because she would end up fighting against him. Allaire saw the good, or at least thought she did, in him. Maybe that was what drew her in.
Hearing that he might have been busy later, a frown appeared on her face, but she wiped it away before he could see it. "Yeah, a raincheck will be fine." She put a light smile back on her face, despite the fact that she felt a little disappointed.

He knew she would feel disappointed, he was disappointed in himself as well, but he told himself he was doing it for her own good. Right now she was struggling with what she thought was a gross offense to her sister by being put through an arranged marriage. Didn't she realize that she was going to be in the same position some day? It would be best if he didn't interfere. If he didn't get close enough to the point that it would hurt when they inevitably had to be separated.
Smiling again he let the silence come, unsure of what else he should say.

Sometimes she wished that she was able to read minds. If she knew that he had doubts, Allaire would have done her best to chase them away. She did know that she was going to fight her father no matter how bad he wanted her to marry a certain person. Maybe she would be the kind that no one would see. After all, she would always have her nose in a book. She didn't really go out and socialize with a lot of people. That was more for her sisters.
Allaire needed a reason to fight. If she had nothing to fight for, then there wouldn't be much of a push and pull on her end. If she ended up single for the rest of her life and had cats, she would have been alright. After all, she would have had the option of marrying or not. Maybe her father would learn something after the whole thing with Ophelia.
Silence was a normal thing that occurred. It usually was a very comfortable silence. Allaire returned his smile and then closed her eyes, resting her head on the back of the couch as she let out a sigh.

He smiled, he couldn't help but when seeing her relaxed pose. Silently he placed himself behind her and his hands fell to her shoulders which he promptly began to apply slight pressure back and forth. He wanted to touch her, he couldn't help touching her. It was wrong of him, this path he was taking with Allaire would only lead to heartache but there was nothing for it. He could either fight this feeling and lose the battle, or cave and enjoy what he could get. He would teeter back and forth for her sake of course but in the end fate knew better.

Once she thought about it, Ashton was beyond confusing. One moment Allaire thought he liked her, but then the next she wasn't exactly sure. It was like a push and pull. She didn't understand it but somehow she would figure it out, wouldn't she? Even if she had to just be completely forward about it and just ask plainly.
Every time his hands touched her, it didn't even matter if he brushed by her, small chill bumps would rise on her skin. This time was no different. With her head held back, she opened one eye to glance up to him before giving a smile and then closing her eye again as she relaxed into his hands.
