Geoffrey gratefully accepted the refill of his glass and took a large gulp from the drink. His head was already starting to spin a little, but it was good. He felt lighter. "I don't know, I think we should send Brad up there to sing something really embarrassing. Like I Feel Pretty, or something like that. What do you think? I bet he could do a really good version of that one...."
He laughed, noticing that the laughter was already coming more easily. He didn't feel like it was blocked up inside him. "Vic's staying quiet... I bet he's busy thinking of a good song he wants to sing, right, Vic?"

"Oh you bet Geoff, right after you," Vic laughed out loud. He wasn't entirely sure of the plan tonight, but, due to Ross and Brad refilling Geoff's drink constantly, he guessed part of it was to get the man drunk as hell.
Good plan.
Vic finished his drink and poured himself a refil. He usually was the quiet one anyway. He smiled as he saw Geoff was loosening up.

The alcohol was working its magic, and he was starting to feel a nice buzz. This was what he needed, he needed to numb the pain and silence the annoying doubts and fears that kept nagging at his brain.
"A couple more of these, and I'll be up there..." Geoffrey said. "Not sure I'll be able to read the words on the little screen thing, but who really cares about that, anyway?" He laughed and took a healthy gulp from his glass.
"So seriously, guys, what else is going on? Any of you seeing anyone? I'm starting to get desperate for gossip. Never thought I'd miss it, but I was starting to get used to it..."

"I'll help you out with the words," Ross said with a laugh. He hadn't really seen Geoffrey too terribly drunk before, but he thought that maybe he could still handle it. After all, it was Ross' idea for them all to meet up and drag Geoffrey out. It was his job to be responsible. Goodness knew that Brad would get about as drunk as Geoffrey, and Ross wasn't sure about Vic.
"As for seeing anyone, I'm still not." He gave a shrug. "But Danny is talking to me again." A grin found its way onto his face. "She came by for a visit a couple days ago and we've been talking since. I'm hoping that means everything is alright."

It felt sort of good to hear someone else talking about their problems for a change. For too long, it had been all about Geoffrey or Riley or Roland. But as Ross began to talk about Danny, Geoffrey remembered that there were other people out there and they all had things going on in their lives, too.
"That's good news," he said, drinking some more from his glass. "Danny... she's the brunette, right? The one who works at St. Mungo's? She was really pretty, if I remember correctly... how come you haven't asked her out yet?"

"Yes, the brunette who works at St. Mungo's," said Ross with a nod. Of course she was really pretty, but that comment was something he didn't say. "I can't just ask her out. Sure, we're really good friends and I've liked her since forever but I can't just ask her. I thought about it that night when whats-his-face showed up and ruined everything." Ross rolled his eyes. "And I wasn't going to break them up so I just let it go because she looked like she was having fun." Maybe he should have really fought for her that night, after all, she did say that they were going to just be spending time together. Ross pushed that thought of his mind. All that had already happened, he couldn't change it.
"The next morning when she came over, I pretty much told her how I felt and that sort of chased her away. Now after a while of not seeing or speaking to each other, she wants to be friends again. I can't bring that stuff back up, not now." Ross sighed and tossed back the contents of his drink down his throat. If Danny wanted to act like nothing ever happened, then he could do that.

Geoffrey shook his head while Ross was talking about Danny. His own life might have been a mess at this point, but he could clearly see that Ross was making a huge mistake.
"Look, man," Geoffrey said, his words already beginning to slur. "I may be the last guy in the world to be qualified to give anyone advice, but I gotta tell you... you're making a mistake. If this whole mess has taught me anything, it's that you gotta grab onto the ones you love with both hands and never let go. Did I tell you that I asked Riley to marry me? When I found out she was pregnant and that the baby was Roland's... I proposed to her. I told myself it was cause she needed someone to take care of her and help her raise the baby... but now I'm not so sure. And now Roland's alive and happily in love with Riley... and it kind of makes me sick. And I've got Alison... and I love her, but Riley... I don't know. I sort of hate the idea of her marrying my cousin...."

Once Geoffrey told Ross he was making a mistake, Ross' eyebrows shot up. He didn't know what he was supposed to do about Danny. She had come over and wanted to be friends again. They both acted as if nothing happened. What was he supposed to do? How was he supposed to tell her that he loved her? How awkward would that be if she didn't feel the same? Ross was about to tell Geoffrey that he would rather be friends with Danny rather than spill his guts to her and lose her but his words stopped him.
"No, you left out that little detail," he said listening to Geoffrey. Ross didn't know what to tell his friend. Quite honestly, he always thought that Geoff had a thing for Riley but he was never really for sure. "Is it because you think maybe you'll lose her once she's married to him? I mean I don't really think that she would let you go, after all you two have known each other since forever anyway. Or is it because you love her?"

"That's dangerous waters there mate," Vic said, giving his inputon Geoffery's relationship with Riley. 'Course, Vic wasn't one to talk. He had no dating drama, no girls he was chasing, no girls chasing him. But he always was the type of guy who knew that oppertunity's were few to come by, like Ross rekindling friendship with Danny. "And Ross, i think for know at least you should be happy that Danny want's to stay friends, maybe right now that's what she needs."
He listend to what Ross said to Geoff. "Ross is right, you're not going to loose her Roland knows how important you are to her." Vic said. "or, is Ross getting somewhere and you actually do Love her?"

Geoffrey groaned to himself. He really hadn't meant to spill his guts about Riley and Roland and all of that, and he probably wouldn't have done it if not for the alcohol. And the last thing he wanted to think about was whether or not his feelings for Riley went beyond friendship.
"Of course I love her," he replied tersely. "She's my best friend, I've known her since I was 12 years old. She's practically my sister."
He quickly drained his glass and poured another after this statement. "At least, that's how she sees me. I'm just always there for her, a shoulder to lean on, someone to pick her up when she's down... and when I needed her, where the hell was she, huh? She was off with my cousin. And I know he loves her and he'll take good care of her and he won't hurt her... but I just hate him!"

"But you see her more than that though," Ross asked. He thought it was at least better if Geoffrey just got it out. Plus, with him saying 'at least', it made him think that there was probably something more.
He knew that both Geoffrey and Riley had been a mess. Riley had been with Roland and that pretty much left Geoffrey alone. In a way, Ross could see why Geoff would have been angry about that. But, now he was going to have to share Riley, and from what was going on, it didn't seem that he wanted to do that. Ross was unsure if there had been anything else going on, but he wasn't going to question it. He knew that Geoffrey wanted to be the one to take care of his best friend, but now things had changed. "Look mate, it'll work out some how, just calm down. We came out here to just get our minds off of things. Let's do that, shall we?"

It was really all very confusing. Geoffrey didn’t know what he felt anymore, not really. In addition to being nearly paralyzed with fear, there was also quite a lot of anger. Anger at Roland, anger at Riley, anger at himself, anger at the git who cursed him. He had started out trying to help his best friend, and had wound up being cursed, left alone, and afraid of his own shadow.
He had Alison, and she had been wonderful. But she wasn’t Riley. She wasn’t his best friend. And the things he was feeling now were the kinds of things you could only tell to your best friend. Only he couldn’t say them because she loved Roland now. What was he supposed to do?
He downed even more of his drink, then eyed the stage. “All right. We’re here to have fun, right? I’m gonna sing.”

If Geoffrey wanted to talk, Ross would actual listen but he understood that there were just somethings you couldn't tell your other friends. There were certain things that had to be reserved for your best friend. Instead of making Geoffrey talk about it even more, Ross was glad when Geoffrey turned up his glass again.
Maybe getting Geoffrey drunk wasn't the best idea in the whole world, but it was working for the moment. He was loosening up a bit and that was what he needed. Needless to say Geoffrey might or might not remember what all he did, but at least his mind was off of things.
Ross let out a laugh when Geoffrey said he was going to sing. He was still pretty sober but getting up and singing infront of people with one of his good friends was a sacrifice that Ross could make. "Want me to go up and sing with you?"

"You're going to what?" Vic said, pouring himself another drink and gulping half of it. He'd probably be the inbetweeny out of all of them. Drunk just enough to be a little reckless without being stupid. He chuckled at the thought of Ross and Geoff getting up on the stage to sing and he looked over at Brad.
"We don't have to go with them do we?" he asked with a laugh.

Geoffrey stood up and wobbled dangerously on his feet. Until that moment, he hadn't realized that the firewhiskey had hit him quite so hard. Still, he gripped the back of his chair and righted himself before he lost balance.
"No, guys, you don't hafta come," he slurred. "I kinda wanna do this one solo."
Just like everything else in his life, he thought bitterly. Although it wasn't exactly a fair thing to say. After all, Christine had stuck by him loyally while he was in the hospital, his parents had visited him every day, and even Alison would have been there every day if he hadn't sent her away. Now he had his whole family, and Alison, and, finally, Riley. The only thing she didn't understand was that it was a case of too little, too late. He had needed her then, when he was in the hospital, not sure if she was alive or dead. Sure, there was a part of him, the rational, logical part, that didn't blame her for it, after what he'd tried to do to her while under the curse. But right now, that rational, logical part of his mind was gone, and in its place was a raw, emotional nerve enhanced by alcohol.
He was still standing there, holding onto the chair, as these thoughts passed through his mind, completely unaware of what the guys must have been thinking. He actually looked about two seconds from passing out.
But abruptly, he grabbed his glass and finished the rest of its contents before making his way, erratic yet purposeful, to the stage.

"You go for it then," Ross said with a grin. Noticing that Geoffrey was well on his way to becoming completely wasted, he moved so that if his friend lost his balance, Ross could attempt to catch him before he hit the floor.
He was about to ask Geoffrey if he was alright, but he seemed to have snapped out of it. As Geoffrey made his way up to the stage, Ross let out a few wolf whistles before letting out a laugh. He looked over to Vic. "This should be entertaining," he said with a grin and taking a seat beside him.

Geoffrey made his way up to the stage and stood there for a minute, looking out at the other patrons of the bar. There were a few old witches sitting together in one corner, drinking and cackling as if they were unaware of the other people around them. He could also see a couple of old men who seemed too far gone to really care aboiut much of anything, and another guy, sitting alone, staring bleakly into his glass as if he hoped to find the answer to all his problems within. And over by the window, there seemed to be a woman, on the youngish side, flirting with another guy, while Stu stood behind the bar. All in all, there was hardly a crowd, which was good, considering he was most likely going to humiliate himself. He actually had a decent singing voice, but he hadn't practiced in a while, and, of course, he was quite drunk, just drunk enough to not really care what anyone thought.
He selected a song, and the enchanted machine started to play. He took a breath and began to sing:
"As I walk this land with broken dreams I have visions of many things Love's happiness is just an illusion Filled with sadness and confusion, What becomes of the broken hearted Who had love that's now departed? I know I've got to find Some kind of peace of mind Maybe. The fruits of love grow all around But for me they come a tumblin' down. Every day heartaches grow a little stronger I can't stand this pain much longer I walk in shadows Searching for light Cold and alone No comfort in sight, Hoping and praying for someone to care Always moving and goin to where What becomes of the broken hearted Who had love that's now departed? I know I've got to find Some kind of peace of mind Maybe. I'm searching though I don't succeed, But someone look, there's a growing need. Oh, he is lost, there's no place for beginning, All that's left is an unhappy ending. Now what's become of the broken-hearted Who had love that's now departed? I know I've got to find Some kind of peace of mind I'll be searching everywhere Just to find someone to care. I'll be looking everyday I know I'm gonna find a way Nothings gonna stop me now I'll find a way somehow I'll be searching everywhere...."
By the end of the song, Geoffrey was on his knees on the little makeshift stage, and his eyes were wet with tears. He stayed there for a minute, wiping his face and taking a pretend bow for the three witches in the corner, who had looked up when he started singing and were now applauding. Then he slid off the stage and staggered back to the table to pour himself another drink.

"Need refills, boys?"
Nathalia had been sharing a shift with Stu. It happened sometimes when Stu wanted to check up on the inventory or do some bookkeeping. Though, Nathalia also suspected that he came in when he was lonely, too.
She'd seen Geoffrey's performance, and she was observant enough to realize that he was having a pretty bad night. Maybe he didn't need any more alcohol, but her heart went out to him.
So when he was done singing, she sauntered to their table, asking if any of them needed something else.

Geoffrey sort of slunk back to his table, looking drained. It had been a bad idea to let the guys talk him into coming out tonight. He was in no condition to be here tonight, and he really kind of wanted to go home and go to bed.
But as bad as it sounded, he knew that if he did that, he would feel like he was letting the guys down, and that they might judge him harshly. He didn’t want to look like a coward or a loser in their eyes. Maybe he already did, but it was too late for that. He was just sure he’d feel worse if he went home now.
So when the pretty blonde walked up to their table, he peered up at her and blurted out the first cheesy pickup line he could think of. “I could use a kiss.”

Nathalia, to her credit, did not laugh when he blurted that line out. She'd heard worse, of course. And she was pretty used to situations like this.
Her eyes went to each of the others at the table, briefly, before they returned to Geoffrey. "Yeah? I think I could do that for you."
Obligingly, but in an innocent capacity, she leaned forward and gave him a friendly kiss on his cheek. "If you boys would like anything else to drink, just holler for me, all right?" She put her hand on Geoffrey's arm and squeezed lightly, giving him a smile before she turned to go.
