Andi smiled at her cousin. "I know, and I love you for it. But what happened with me and Ted really had nothing to do with Arthur. And I gave Ted a second chance after what happened... don't you think Arthur deserves that much? You have to give the guy props for being persistent, at least." She suspected that Molly was reluctant for reasons that had nothing to do with her and Ted. Molly had no reason to be afraid of love, but she still seemed uneasy about giving her heart away. But Andi had a feeling about Molly and Arthur. It was as strong as the one she had felt about Ted, and about Roland and Riley. "Just hear the guy out. That's all I'm asking." "Andi, stop. Listen. It's not that I don't want to give him a second chance. And looking back, what I did was stupid. I was just... scared, I guess. I just don't understand why he'd want a second chance after all of that. And what am I supposed to say? Sorry?" She stuck her hands in her pockets, following her cousin. Basically, she felt like an idiot, and didn't know how she was going to keep her pride about her when she finally faced Arthur. "I just have this fear he's going to look at me just laugh."

Andi shook her head. She knew that Molly was just making excuses to hide the fact that she was nervous. And when it came down to it, Molly was probably not nervous that Arthur wouldn't forgive her; she was nervous that he would. Molly had never been particularly good with relationships, and it was so obvious that Arthur was crazy about her. That could be a scary thing, realizing that someone felt that way about you.
"Molly, I hardly think that Arthur would go to all the trouble to arrange this meeting with you if he was just going to laugh in your face. And anyway, he wouldn't do that. He's crazy about you... the least you can do is give him a chance."
She gave Molly's hand a reassuring squeeze. "It's going to be OK. I promise."

Molly sighed, giving her cousin an exasperated look. She had a point about the trouble of arranging this, and Molly also knew that Arthur was not the kind of guy who would do that to a girl.
No, Arthur was a good guy, fully capable of making her fall deeply, irrevocably in love... and what happened if he wasn't there to catch her when she fell? Without much baggage of her own, Molly was still scared.
"All right, come on. Let's go. Before this hippogriff claws its way out of my stomach. That's what feels like it's in there."

Ted didn't believe him or a moment.
No, that wasn't true. He knew Arthur would fine. He would probably blow Molly away with how sweet he was. What Ted didn't believe was that Arthur believed he was okay. There was a big difference.
"You'll be fine. I gotta hand it to you, Arthur... you seem so quiet and unassuming, and you pick the firecracker with a temper to match. Good on you, mate."
The fact that Molly agreed to meet him was half the battle, and a very good sign. Arthur had to see that, right?
"They should be here soon, anyway."

Arthur couldn't help but laugh. Yes, when he looked at it that way, he and Molly couldn't be more different. But there was more to Molly than just the fiery-tempered redhead. There was a vulnerability to her that he related to. It was almost like her fiery personality was a cover for her more insecure, uncertain side. Arthur's insecurity and uncertainty were just closer to the surface than Molly's.
"Yeah, I sure can pick 'em, can't I?" he said. "But you know.... when she was yelling at you, as much as I felt sorry for you, I kind of loved seeing her like that. She's passionate, and she cares about people. She's fiercely loyal, and if anyone hurts anyone she cares about, the claws come out. It's kind of amazing to see... it makes me think of how she would defend our children."
He blushed slightly, staring down into his drink. "I know I'm getting ahead of myself. But sometimes I picture us together.... a whole house full of kids. Is that crazy?"

Andi, meanwhile, had a good feeling about this. Maybe it was just because she saw things through rose-colored glasses since she and Ted had gotten back together, but it seemed to her that love was all around them. It was kind of a beautiful thought; that while the wizarding world was in the middle of a war based on hate and discrimination, love seemed to flourish.
"OK, we're going," she replied. "Just try to relax. I'm sure Arthur is just as nervous as you are.... But it's going to be OK. I promise."
They started to walk a little faster, Andi continuing to hold onto Molly's hand for reassurance. At last they reached the door of the Leaky Cauldron, and Andi paused to give her cousin a hug. "Go get him," she said with a smile. "I'll be right there with you."

"Whoa, Arthur... kids?" Ted wasn't sure why that seemed like such a jump for him. Andi was pregnant... why couldn't Arthur be thinking about kids? And good godric, Molly would be a mother bear times a thousand, that much was clear.
"You'd have little redheaded pygmies running around. It'd be cute." He often wondered what their child would look like... his and Andi's. They were physically polar opposite. Would it be brown haired, blue eyed? Tall, short? He couldn't wait to meet the little creature they created.
He glanced out the window and kicked Arthur under the table. "Here goes... look whose here. You're going to sweep her off her feet, Arty."

That was how Arthur pictured it, him and Molly running around after a whole houseful of little red-headed urchins. he even had a house already... it was an old house that had he had inherited after his grandparents' death. It wasn't big, but Arthur hadn't wanted to live in it all alone, so he had rented the apartment. He could just picture this imaginary family living happily on that isolated property, running through the surrounding fields and swamps.
It sounded like heaven to Arthur. But first, he had to get Molly to agree to give him another try. Maybe then everything else would fall into place.
When Ted announced that Molly was here, Arthur felt his breath catch in his throat. Oh, Merlin, he couldn't do this. It felt like his whole future was riding on this moment.
His hands shaking, Arthur pushed his glass of butterbeer far away from him. It left him nothing to occupy his hands with, but at least he wouldn't be able to spill it on her again. He was quite sure she would not be as forgiving this time.
"How.... how do I look?" he asked nervously, trying to smooth down his hair.

Molly hugged her cousin back, her stomach a huge ball of nerves. She didn't know why Arthur even wanted to talk to her again, much less see her again.
"Okay," she said, nodding and letting Andi lead the way. When they reached the table, she took a deep breath and for rd a smile. "Hey."

Arthur's pale face flushed as bright red as his hair. For a moment, he couldn't breathe. Molly was so pretty, so fiery and intelligent and... perfect. What made him think this was a good idea. No matter what Ted said, he was positive that Molly was out of his game.
Maybe it was the nerves that paralyzed him, kept him in his seat. He raised his eyes to meet hers and managed a nervous smile. "Hey," he replied.
Something struck him in that moment, and it steadied him instantly. She was just as nervous as he was, which meant that... well, he wasn't entirely sure what it meant, but he was pretty sure it was good for him.
"You look really pretty today," he said, his voice more confident now. "Thanks for coming."

Andi, meanwhile, gave Ted a gentle nudge and a knowing glance. Molly and Arthur were both very self-conscious people, and Andi thought they would actually have an easier time of things if they were alone.
Slipping her arm through Ted's, she lightly guided him away from the couple and over to another table, just close enough that they could keep an eye on Molly and Arthur, but for enough away that they could not overhear what was being said.
"I really hope those two crazy kids work things out," she said, smiling at him. "I really think they'll be good for each other."

Ted was way too busy being amused by the obvious discomfort of the two young lovebirds, so Andi's nudge pulled him out of his own little world, and he looked at her, not understanding for a moment. Finally, he nodded, allowing her to lead him away while playfully rolling his eyes. "I was enjoying that."
He glanced back at the table, having slid into the same side of the booth that Andi was on, his arm around her shoulders. "I dunno if Arthur can keep up with Molly. Your cousin's crazy. You know that, right?"

Molly fidgeted with her hands, looking at Arthur, then watching Ted and Andi walk away. She wasn't sure if that helped or not, and she took a deep breath to try and calm herself. When he spoke to her again, her eyes were drawn back, and she smiled- softly, nervously, but it was there.
"Thank you," she said, hesitating for just another moment before she sat down across from him, her hands folded nervously in her lap. This would work itself out just fine, as long as he forgave her.
"I.... uhm. How are you?"

Andi smiled affectionately at her husband. "I know, but I think they'll do better if they don't have an audience," she said. She didn't want either of them to think that there was any kind of pressure on them to work this out, even though she was already making plans to lock the two of them in a room together if this meeting didn't do the trick.
She leaned against Ted's arm, ignoring his negative comment. She was actually quite convinced that Arthur was made of stronger stuff than he appeared. If he wasn't, they wouldn't be here now; he would have given up long ago. But he held out hope, and he kept trying, which proved that, if Molly was crazy, Arthur might actually be even crazier.
"Yeah, but she's the good kind of crazy. The kind you want on your side," she said mildly. "And don't count Arthur out. He knows exactly what he's getting into... maybe he needs a little craziness in his life. I think they'll be adorable together."

Somehow, seeing how nervous she was made Arthur feel more confident. She wasn't angry anymore, and that was a good start. Maybe she'd never really been angry at all; Arthur had no idea. He'd seen her angry, and he knew how fiery her personality could be. But here, in this moment, she seemed... vulnerable. Sweet. And so pretty it made his chest ache.
He still had a long way to go before he could unravel the mysteries of her personality, but he knew in that moment that he was looking forward to trying. He'd never be bored with her, and he just had to make sure she'd never be bored with him.
He smiled as his breathing began to even out. He could do this. But he'd start slow.
"I'm good," he said. "How are you?"
It sounded lame, but suddenly, Arthur didn't care.

Molly's eyes lifted to his when he returned her question, and her shoulders fell a little. It wasn't from disappointment, but it was as if her whole body let go a sigh of relief.
"I'm well," Molly replied, even letting a small smile grace her lips. "Listen..."
It was well in her court to apologize to the poor guy, and she knew that. But Molly had a really hard time admitting when she was wrong. "I'm... ah... sorry, right? I was just trying to protect my cousin." She would rather get this out of the way now, then hold onto that semi sort of apology all night.

Arthur smiled and shook his head. Suddenly, he felt perfectly at ease, and the words no longer felt stuck in his throat. Something about her nervous smile gave him strength. "You don't have to apologize," he said. "I understand why you were doing it. And actually... I admire that. I like that you're so loyal to the people you care about."
It was true. The way she had leapt to defend Andromeda was nothing short of amazing. It had made him picture how she would defend her children with all the fire and fury of a mother dragon. He got the impression that she'd take on You-Know-Who himself if one of her children were in danger. It hadn't been great to be the target of her rage, but he respected it and liked her all the better for it.
"Right... you know what? Why don't we start all over again?" he suggested. "Just pretend all that didn't happen and start fresh?" He held out his hand to her. "I'm Arthur Weasley, nice to meet you. And you are?"
