It had taken some convincing, but Molly had finally agreed to meet with Arthur again, just to talk. He was nervous as could be, with butterflies creating a storm in his stomach, and he was pretty sure his palms were sweating. Every couple of minutes, he kept wiping them on the sides of his robes.
Sitting at a table in the corner of the Three Broomsticks, he already had his drink, and he clutched the glass almost convulsively, afraid that he would drop it. Turning to Ted, who waited with him, he took a shaky breath. "This is crazy. She's never going to give me another chance. Why should she? I'll probably just spill butterbeer all over her again."

Ted just shook his head. He could understand why Arthur was nervous, but he didn't think there was any need for it.
He was obviously way more relaxed than Arthur, lounging in the seat next to his friend. They were waiting for Andi and Molly to arrive, and he sipped his butterbeer lazily. "She already agreed to see you again, which means she wants to give this another shot, right? Besides, she broke up with you because of me, not the butterbeer. And now that Andi's forgiven me, she's forgiven you by default."
Ted rolled his eyes. "I really don't get girls sometimes."

"She didn't really break up with me," Arthur pointed out. "We were never really going out. We met, we had one date, and then she didn't want to see me anymore because of you breaking up with Andi."
He sighed and rubbed his head tiredly. "What if she sees me and whatever was there in the first place is just... gone? What if she decides that she's not really interested after all? I could hardly blame her, really..."

"Arthur... I already told you. Just the fact that she agreed to come tonight means that she's still interested. And you two had a pretty strong attraction that day you spilled butterbeer on her. That says a lot... I don't think that's something that just disappears, Arthur. You really need to relax. She's going to come in here and see you all tense, and then she'll get tense, and that girl is vicious when she's tense. So for my sake, would you please relax?"
Molly was either going to apologize for what had happened, or she was going to tell him there was nothing between them. Either way, Arthur wouldn't know until she showed up, and being worried about it wasn't going to change the outcome.
"It will work out, I promise."
He checked his muggle watch, silently hoping the girls would show up soon.

Arthur made a face. Ted was right, of course, but Arthur couldn't help being nervous. The only reason Ted was so calm was because he already had the girl of his dreams.
"Ted, if the situation were reversed, and you were the one sitting here waiting to see if Andi was going to forgive you and give you a second chance, would you be relaxed?"
He sighed. "I'll try to calm down."

Andi knew exactly how stubborn her cousin could be, and she knew Arthur was going to have a bit of a challenge on his hands. Still, she also believed in love, and Arthur was so sincere and caring, Molly would be a fool to turn him down.
She was waiting outside Le Repas Cher (after the disastrous fight with Bella, Andi was reluctant to set foot inside the restaurant). Molly's shift would be ending shortly, and then they would go over to meet the boys at the Three Broomsticks.

Ted shot Arthur a look at this question. "Of course I would. I am the epitome of cool and relaxed."
He wouldn't, really, and they both knew it. In fact, when Ted was in a similar spot, trying to get his second chance, he'd been drunk for a couple weeks at least, and a complete mess. At least Arthur was holding himself together. There were differences, though. He'd known Andromeda for longer, already established a relationship with her... love sucked, sometimes.
"You're going to be fine, Arthur. Besides, if you're all worked up, you'll just spill butterbeer on her again, and she may not find it as endearing this time."

"Right, you were really cool when you were getting completely trashed and being obnoxious. By the way, I don't think I ever apologized for punching you that night. I mean, you totally deserved it... but I'm sorry, anyway."
Then Ted reminded him of how he and Molly had first met, and Arthur frowned deeply. Well, that just did it. Although the idea had already occurred to Arthur that he might spaz out again and spill butterbeer all over Molly once again, having Ted say it aloud only doubled his panic over this possibility. Panicked, he pushed his butterbeer across the table, as far away from him as possible.
"I can't be trusted with that," he said.

"Don't apologize," Ted replied, waving it off. "I did deserve it. Besides, I've already forgotten it."
He frowned that Arthur brought it up, but said nothing more. He had Andromeda back, and he wasn't going to ever lose her again, so those days may as well be forgotten entirely.
He sat up a little straighter and pushed the butterbeer back towards Arthur. "Come on, mate. You're not going to spill it on her, and you'll be fine. I was just kidding. You really need to relax though."
He already saw how this was going to go. He'd see Molly and stutter his tongue off, and Molly was probably feeling awkward already since the whole thing was basically her fault. Yes, he admired her loyalty to Andromeda as a friend, but really... well, she'd over reacted and she had to know it.
"They'll be here soon. What are you planning on saying to her?"

She was waiting outside Le Repas Cher (after the disastrous fight with Bella, Andi was reluctant to set foot inside the restaurant). Molly changed in the bathroom of La Repas, not exactly wanting to meet Arthur in her work clothes. Her stomach was completely tied up in knots over this meeting, and she was surprised he even wanted to see her again. She hadn't meant to make such a mess of things. The truth was, even past her loyalty to Andi, she was scared. And for what? She had never been hurt in love. By the time she met her cousin outside, she was nearly ready to back out. It helped that Andi would be there, but she'd made it quite clear to both of the boys that she wanted nothing to do with either of them. "Andi, this is bad idea," she said by way of greeting the brunette.

As soon as Molly emerged, Andi smiled at her cousin’s appearance. She looked very pretty, and Andi was quite sure that Arthur would be dumbstruck by the very sight of her. The poor guy was positively crazy for Molly, and Andi just didn’t understand why Molly couldn’t see that.
Shaking her head at Molly’s comment, Andi folded her arms over her chest. “No, it’s not,” she insisted. “He wants to see you again, to beg for another chance. I think you owe him that much, at least. I still don’t understand why you broke up with him in the first place, before you ever even really started going out.”

Arthur scowled at the glass of butterbeer. “I didn’t think I’d spill on her before, either,” he said. Even though she had apparently found it cute the first time, he really didn’t want to do it again.
He had a moment of panic when Ted asked what he was planning to say. Of course he had rehearsed a dozen or so different things he could say to her, but even in his practicing, she always slapped him in the face. He was on the verge of giving up, actually, except that he really did think she was worth the frustration and angst. He admired her loyalty, and was excited by her fire, and he wanted to know her better.
Taking a long drink from his butterbeer, he shook his head. “No… no, I haven’t been able to figure out what to say to her. I was just going to… er… make it up as I went along.”

"Be quiet, Andi. I did it out of loyalty to you and you know that."
That was her reasoning outloud. She wanted to believe she had strong convictions, and that she couldn't be dating the best friend of the guy that broke her cousin's heart. But somewhere, on a barely conscious level that she didn't want to acknowledge, she knew she was just scared. She didn't want to be hurt that same way. She wasn't strong enough to deal with it... and she really liked Arthur.

Ted shrugged, taking a long drink from his butterbeer. "That'll probably work for you. She'll fall for your charm and all that."
He leaned back in the booth again. If, for any reason, this didn't work out for Arthur, it would be because Ted was here. Andi assured him that it would be fine, and some vengeful, secret part of Ted that would never see the light of day thought that Molly could use the humbling experience. It had to be awkward for her.
"Look, you know the girl likes you. It'll just be a matter of awkward behavior over a drink or two, and then you'll probably end up taking her home before Andi and I are even ready to leave. Just.... relax."

Andi smiled at her cousin. "I know, and I love you for it. But what happened with me and Ted really had nothing to do with Arthur. And I gave Ted a second chance after what happened... don't you think Arthur deserves that much? You have to give the guy props for being persistent, at least."
She suspected that Molly was reluctant for reasons that had nothing to do with her and Ted. Molly had no reason to be afraid of love, but she still seemed uneasy about giving her heart away. But Andi had a feeling about Molly and Arthur. It was as strong as the one she had felt about Ted, and about Roland and Riley.
"Just hear the guy out. That's all I'm asking."

Arthur sighed again and began to rub his head. He was beginning to think this was a bad idea. Maybe he should just give up. Maybe he was wasting his time and she had just seized on the breakup between Ted and Andromeda as an excuse to cut her ties with him. Maybe shy, pale, skinny Arthur Weasley was destined to be a single bachelor living alone in a tiny apartment.
This thought made Arthur feel even more miserable, and he took a long drink from his butterbeer, nearly draining the glass. "Tell me the truth, Ted," he said, not meeting his friend's eyes. "Am I fighting a losing battle here? Am I just wasting everyone's time? I mean, what would a girl like Molly want with a guy like me, anyway?"

Ted eyed Arthur as he drank, almost amused except that he knew this was a nervewracking thing. He was relaxed because he wasn't the one in an awkward position here.
And he did rather suspected that Arthur was fighting a losing battle, but not for the reasons Arthur described. He thought Molly was as stubborn as a Norwegian Ridgeback, and he didn't know how well tonight was going to go over. But if Arthur wanted her, he deserved her.
"Honestly, Arthur, she'd be lucky to have you, and she knows it. I wouldn't lie to you."

Arthur sighed and stared bleakly into his drink. “Thanks for saying so, mate, but I still think she’s… what is it that the muggles say? Out of my game?”
Perhaps he should just leave now. He would probably just end up making a fool of himself. But then… Wasn’t love worth the risk? Wasn’t Molly worth it? He vaguely remembered telling Roland about how telling someone how you felt about them was the bravest, most terrifying thing you could do. And he was right. Right now, the concept of fighting off death eaters sounded easier and less frightening.

"League," Ted replied easily, not really thinking about it. "And she's not. She's a blood traitor, working as a waitress... what part of that sounds out of your league at all? Not that I'm saying anything bad about her, I'm not. I'm just saying, you're selling yourself short here, Arthur."
He took another drink from his butterbeer, keeping his eyes on the door for when Andi and Molly would come in.
"Would it be easier for you if Andi and I weren't around...?" Maybe the pressure of a happy couple wouldn't be appreciated. He didn't know.

Arthur shook his head quickly. He was far too nervous to be alone right now. It was because of Ted and Andi, as well as Roland and Riley, that he even had any hope at all of getting a second chance from Molly. The breakup between Ted and Andi had been pretty severe, and for a while it had looked like they were finished. But Andi had forgiven him, and now the breakup was just a distant memory. Roland and Riley, meanwhile, had even survived Roland’s “death” and were now deeply in love. The odds against him and Molly didn’t seem so insurmountable in comparison… he just didn’t know whether Molly was really interested in him. If she wasn’t… well, then at least he’d know, right?
“No, don’t go. I need the moral support,” he said. “I’m just nervous… I’m trying to get it all out of my system before she gets here, that’s all. I’ll be fine.”
He might have even been convincing if he hadn’t followed up these words with a tight, obviously-trying-too-hard smile.
