Dante laughed. "OK, OK. Just give me a minute."
Luckily, the line was short, and it was only a minute before he was standing in front of the desk, handing his check to the goblin. With a wizard's check, it simply meant that they had to transfer the amount from the Leaky Cauldron's vault to his own. He just wished to himself that wizards would get on board with the credit card system that muggles had. In New York, he had spent most of his time among muggles, although there were small wizarding communities tucked away in corners of the city. Dante had become quite used to the muggle way of life, and sometimes had trouble fitting in among wizards anymore.
The goblin handed the check to another goblin, who went off to do the transfer. A few minutes later, the second goblin returned with the amount Dante had requested from his check.
"Thank you," he said to the goblins. Then he turned to Gabriella. "OK, Gab. You show me the way to this restaurant, and lunch is on me. OK?"

She waited patiently for Dante to get through the line.
Whenever he was done, she looped her arm through his and led him out of Gringotts. At the mention of lunch being on him, she knew better than to argue because it wasn't going to get her anywhere. "Alright," she said without a fuss.
Gabriella led them through Diagon Alley to Galligan's. "Here we are," she said with a bright smile.

Dante stood next to her, casting his eyes around the place. It was nicely decorated. In New York, most Italian places tacked up an Italian flag and a few pictures of the Colliseum and the Leaning tower of Pisa and called it Italian. But this place was subtle, with elegant pottery and art prints. The lights were dim, yet comforting.
"It's nice," he said. "And it smells really good, too."
