Lucius felt a quiver of excitement as he dressed in the regal robes provided for him by the Dark Lord. These would make any observers, and, most importantly, Logan VanHelsing, believe that he was in fact, the Dark Lord himself.
He looked a little taller than usual in the robes, and the magical lift shoes he was wearing helped with that as well. His face was hidden behind a mask, and his flowing blond locks were pinned up behind him and hidden inside a close-fitting cap and the hood. No one would suspect he was anything other than who he said he was.
Smiling to himself, he headed to the meeting place where, he hoped, Bella and Rabastan were already waiting with Logan.

Rabastan, not quite as power hungry as his brother, still had a smirk on his lips that he was the here instead of Rodolphus. That ever present sibling rivalry between them made this little venture so much sweeter.
More than that, he was itching to be a part of this group, so much that he couldn't even wait to graduate school to join. The excitement rushed through his veins, and he felt like he perfectly belonged here. He had no problem that Lucius was leading this group, and in fact, was looking at this quite pragmatically. It was going to be a perfect learning experience.
There was also the fact that he would enjoy this, but he quelshed that as he waited patiently for the others to arrive. As it stood, he was the first there. When Lucius joined him, he just gave a small nod.

Bellatrix came only moments after Lucius' arrival, Logan on her heels. The joy that was obvious on her generally sneering face was easily axplained to the dimwitted Logan as excitment for the chaos they were to cause on the muggle lovers. But in fact, it was the knowledge that Logan's involvement in their cause was soon over. Bellatrix wore the formal black robes, as did Logan. In his own excitement in finally having a mission, Logan already adorned the plain white Death Eater mask so many had come to fear. Bellatrix carried hers in her right hand, allowing the group the pleasure of her beautiful face before their fun began.
Bellatrix smirked as she bowed to the fake Lord Voldemort, knowing it was Lucius but forced to play along for Logan's sake. "Master," she said softly. She glanced at Rabastan from the corner of her eye, wondering if he was holding back a laugh as she was.

The Dark Lord had given Lucius a spell that would enable him to replicate His great voice, so that when he spoke, Logan would have no reason to question his identity. Behind the mask, none of them could see the icy smile that curved his lips.
"Bella," he said, nodding in that way the Dark Lord reserved only for her. He did not turn his head to glance at either of the other two, but began to speak to them nevertheless, his tone imperious, yet somehow bored.
"Lestrange," he said. "This is your first mission with us. You come highly recommended. Pray you do not fail me."
He did not acknowledge Logan at all.
"Come. I am desirous of hearing the screams of Ms. Ackart as she begs for her life." He turned, regally, and began to move on ahead of them, as if he cared not whether they followed.

She rose more quickly for Lucius than she would have if she were actually bowing to the Dark Lord, but Merlin knew Logan was too much of an idiot to realize it. She fixed her mask over her face as Lucius addressed Rabastan, and then followed quickly as he headed into the village.

Logan bowed his head politely, scoffing to himself at the big production Bellatrix always made of bowing so low to the floor for the Dark Lord. It was probably why he addressed her first. Logan knew the Bellatrix fawned over Lord Voldemort like a schoolgirl, and he was certain her feelings were wasted on their cruel leader. But still, there was something odd there.
'Voldemort' addressed the Lestrange boy next, and Logan waited patiently for acknowledgment of his arrival. There was none. But he did not allow this to let him down. He had been chosen specifically for this mission to fight alongside the Dark Lord himself. There was no greater reward. So when the group began moving toward the unsuspecting town, Logan was right on their heels, a big smile hidden behind the blank mask.

Lucius was enjoying this far too much. He was feeling the giddy rush of power take control of him as he moved forward, not bothering to glance behind to see if they followed.
They headed wordlessly to the Daily Prophet office. Having worked there himself for a brief period of time, Lucius knew the way all too well. He also knew his way around the office, but they would not be going inside. Such an action would be too easily caught. And although none of them cared if someone else was caught in the cross-fire, the goal was to kill Bambi, then Logan. Killing anyone else, especially if they tried to fight back, was a complication that Lucius had no tolerance for. They needed to just do this, and make sure they were seen before they got out.
As the newspaper office loomed ahead, "Lord Voldemort" stopped in the middle of the street. Because it was already dark, they had attracted no attention, but he also knew that Lord Voldemort would never approach the building first.
He didn't even need to say what he was thinking, he simply nodded to Bella and took a step back. She was to lead the way, and Lord Voldemort... he had to make an entrance.

Bambi had just finished her most recent article on the fake "Lord Voldemort" and the conspiracies set forth by the Ministry of Magic. It was her best one yet, in her own personal opinion. She had set it on the editor's desk just before grabbing her purse and heading out for the night. She waved goodbye to the doorwizard and stepped out into the darkening night. Either the Death Eaters were very lucky in their timing, or Bambi was just fatally unlucky.

Lucius gave her the signal to continue on ahead of him and just as she passed him the bouncy blonde came out of the office building. Bellatrix laughed at the timing. She drew her wand and aimed it just in front of the woman, conjuring an invisible brick wall. Bambi walked smack into it and stumbled backwards, dropping her purse on the ground. Bellatrix looked back at the Death Eaters behind her, smirking.

Lucius laughed coldly, and the sound came out close to Voldemort's high-pitched laugh. "Ms. Ackart," he said. "You are a foolish woman. You should have known better than to question my existence. Now you shall have the proof of it... too bad you won't live to write a story about it."
He pointed his wand at her. "Crucio!"

She had barely managed to focus after hitting nothingness and falling backwards before a cold voice called her name. She blinked and looked around, her head a little fussy, and then she saw them. The Death Eaters. One among them stood out, and she instantly knew her mistake in thinking he did not exist. It was Lord Voldemort, in the flesh.
And then the pain shot through her and she couldn't restrain the blood curdling scream that was forced out of her. Through the screams she was able to plead; "stop" more screaming, "please" and still more screaming. She would give anything for the pain to cease. Anything.

Lucius watched as the foolish girl screamed for help. Her agony and misery were thrilling to him, and he was becoming almost drunk with power. Releasing her from the spell, he then levitated her above the ground for several feet, then allowed her to drop back down heavily.
"Shall we put her out of her misery now?" he inquired, his tone oddly casual and conversational. "I am so enjoying watching her suffer."
He glanced to Bella again, indicating to her that she should torture the idiot woman some more.

Bellatrix too was enjoying watching Bambi squirm and was pleased to take further part in it. She smiled boldly behind her white mask and then swiftly flicked her wand, causing the woman to swing upside down. With another fluid movement of her wrist Bambi was knocked up against the wall Bellatrix had recently conjured. Bambi screamed again, though clearly not as pained as she had been under Lucius' curse. So Bellatrix again bashed the blonde into the wall, this time as the force of the impact pushed her body backwards, Bellatrix exaggerated the motion and Bambi flew into a tree that had been freshly planted, snapping it in half with the weight of her body.

Logan waited somewhat patiently as 'Voldemort' gave the order for the idiot Bellatrix to attack the little blond woman. He was itching for action, and Bellatrix was getting it all. Luckily the noise of the woman's screaming was drawing a curious crowd and Logan blasted one of them who was drawing a wand. The little bit of action just then only made him want more. He held his wand out at the door where more onlookers were sure to come from.

Lucius caught the action from VanHelsing, and was annoyed. He had not given him permission to attack passersby, or do anything at all. He almost fired a curse in his direction, but was able to refrain.
"You," he said in his Voldemort voice as he pointed his wand at VanHelsing. He then nodded towards Bambi, indicating that he should take over for Bella. He was going to allow Rabastan to fire the killing curse at her, then he would kill VanHelsing.

Logan turned his attention from the frightened onlookers (who were smartly running back into the building they had come from) and focused on the woman scrambling to her feet. Bambi had already been bashed around plenty but he wanted to show the Dark Lord that he could top anything that Bellatrix had up her sleeves. He quickly thought through his options for upstaging the brunette and decided to go with an old favorite. An electric shock type curse that would cause the young girl to convulse and flail about the street.
The execution of the curse was better than he had expected. Bambi's screams and anguished face only added to the show she was putting on. Logan glanced at 'Voldemort' in the hopes he would see an approving nod.

But Lucius was finished indulging the imbecile. He didn't even glance in Logan's direction, he merely pointed at Rabastan. If they delayed this any longer, someone might try to stop them. Of course, the timing was perfect. Most of the Aurors and Ministry officials were currently at the wedding of the Minister of Magic and his bride. There weren't many people who would be likely to come to Bambi's rescue.
"Finish her off," he told Rabastan in his magically altered "Voldemort" voice.

It was Rabastan's moment, and if he hesitated or showed any sign of fear, he was done for. This was his test, and he was determined to pass. There were a thousand reasons why, somewhat blind loyalty not least among them.
He returned the not from Lucius quite subtly, and held his wand a little straighter, a little higher. The torture and the pain were done, and if he looked at it humanely, he was ending her pain. He did not look at it humanely. He was about to take his first life, and it exhilerated him.
"Avada Kedavra!" He said, his voice strong and clear and purposeful, and a jet of green light left his wand, hurdling towards the blonde reporter.

The attack atop attack was too much for Bambi to take. She wanted nothing more than for it to stop and at this point she didn't care how it stopped. She was pleading for death, though too weak to voice it. Of course, if she had thought the pain of the Avada Kedavra curse would be a nice way to go, she was clearly out of her mind. It didn't last long, but it was pain beyond any pain every known. There was no true way to describe it. And then it was gone. She was gone. Her body laid lifeless in the street, amongst the devils that worked for that hideous wizard. Bambi would have loved to write about this story, bring her name to fame yet again. If only it had been another dimwitted witch caught in their chaotic path of destruction.

Lucius let out a laugh, which was magically altered to sound like Voldemort's laugh. It was eerily high-pitched and echoey and would be enough to send chills down the spines of any onlookers. "That is what happens to those who defy Lord Voldemort," he said coldly.
Then he turned to Logan, his eyes glittering behind the mask. He moved closer, until he was only a few feet aweay from the useless death eater. Raising his wand, Lucius added, "And this is what happens to those who displease him. Avada Kedavra!"
The jet of green light shot out of his wand and headed straight fr Logan at alarmingly close range.
