"Because I want to prove to you that I'm not embarassed about dating you, OK? We'll just hang out for a while... It'll be fun. You'll see." They came into the clearing and approached the fire where Lucius, Narcissa, Bellatrix, and Dean were already sitting. "Hey, mind if we join you?" he asked.

Lucius looked at them. He was tempted at first to say no, but instead he shrugged. "Yeah, sure. Why not? Have a seat. We're playing 'I Never.' Are you familiar with it?"

Narcissa took the bottle from Lucius and took a drink from it. It was true, she hadn't attempted to hex a teacher, ever, although, sometimes there were times she wish she would have. Narcissa looked up at Justine and Jason. She gave them a nod.

"Yeah, I've played it before," said Jason, sitting down. "I don't think Justine has, though. It's simple," he said, looking at her. "Someone says something that they've done, only they start with 'I Never.' And if you've really never done that before, then you have to take a drink. Got it?"

Lucius nodded at them. "We were just at 'I never hexed a professor.' So if neither of you have hexed a professor, then you have to take a drink." He frowned. "So far, Hallowell is the only one who hasn't taken a drink for this one. So how about it, Dean? Tell us who you hexed?"

"Oh, so it's like a drinking game?" Justine said, frowning. She sat down next to Jason. "Um, so I never hexed a teacher, so I drink, right?" Feeling suddenly bold, she grabbed the bottle of firewhiskey from Dean and took a drink, then began to cough heavily. "Wow, that's.... smooth," she choked.

Dean grinned. "Yeah, I hexed old man Slughorn once. I made it so every time he tried to sit on his chair, he'd miss the seat and fall on his bum. Remember that time in 5th year when he kept falling? That was me."

Bella smiled at Jason, and gave Justine a sort of half smile. Shewasn't on the greatest of terms with Justine, as she simply didn't like the girl. But she wasn't about to start anything now. Turning her attention back to Dean, she listened to his story. "We learned absolutely nothing that day! And I sort of liked Potions, you twit!" Bella slapped him playfully on the arm and smiled.

"Well, that was pretty funny, though," Lucius drawled. "I can't believe you were the one who did it, and that you didn't tell anyone. You're a strange one, Hallowell. I don't think anyone knew what to expect from you, since you always kept to yourself. And I even shared a dormitory with you, and I never even heard you speak until now."

"Yes," Bella added, "we all thought you were mute for the longest time." She looked to Lucius then said, "I guess you have to get him pissed to hear him."

"I just didn't want to talk to you," Dean said, shrugging. "Personally, I've never liked you. I've always thought you were an overblow bag of hair. But I figure, hey, we all have our hangups, right? You're not so bad when you're not talking about how great you are." He looked at Bellatrix. "You I always liked, but you never wanted anything to do with me, so I stayed away."

Her eyes widened as Dean spoke. She had never thought shy little Hallowell would say such things about Lucius. Sure, plenty of people thought those things, but none were stupid enough to actually speak them aloud. She looked to Lucius to see what he would do, but just then Dean spoke to her, and she was caught off guard.
Taking her eyes from Lucius she looked to Dean with confusion. "Well can you really blame me Hallowell? What would people think if I had hung around with quite little you?!" She cackled at him and stood, taking the bottle from Justine's hand and pouring the liquid down her throat. She shoved the bottle back towards the girl.

Lucius glared at Dean after his little speech, but after a moment, he surprisingly burst out laughing. Perhaps it was the alcohol, but to hear Dean, known among many of the Slytherins as Silent Dean, speaking to him in such a manner seemed absurdly funny. "Well, well," he said after a minute, wiping tears of laughter from his eyes, "Looks like you're made out of tougher stuff than I gave you credit for, Hallowell. You've got quite a set if you think you can speak to me like that." He took another drink from the bottle. "No one ever speaks to me like that. Ever." He got up and gave Dean a harsh shove.

Dean shoved back. "Yeah, well, I sat back all that time and watched you. All of you. I probably know more about you guys than you know about each other. I'm just saying what I see." He looked over at Bellatrix. "Yeah, I wouldn't have expected you to hang out with me. I'm surprised you're doing it now. But just because I was quiet, doesn't mean I didn't have my own thoughts or ideas. Sometimes, it's like they say... still waters run deep."

Justine took the bottle as it was shoved back at her by Bellatrix. A little of the liquor splashed on her robe, and she took out her wand to clean it up. Glancing nervously from Dean to Lucius to Bellatrix, she inched backwards slightly, wondering if maybe she should leave. For support, she leaned closer to Jason.

The boys began to shove each other but Bella took very little notice. She was too engrossed in watching the nervous glances from Justine. The girl obviously had reservations about being in the dark woods with this lot, and rightly so. Bellatrix and Justine never really got along. While Bella had never talked to Dean, she didn't totally dislike or discount the boy. But Justine seemed to rub Bella the wrong way. She agreed with Lucius when he said she was not Slytherin material. At least this summer would be the last time she was forced to interact with the girl.
Bella sniggered as Justine moved closer to Jason; who was being particularly quite tonight. Cackling, Bella asked "you're not scared are you Justine?" She pulled the girl into a tight grip, like a hug around the shoulders, and pulled her away from Jason, walking her over to Narcissa. "Let's have a little girl talk while the boys...sort things out."

"Ow!" Justine said as she was grabbed roughly by Bellatrix. She looked at the older girl suspiciously. "And what exactly do we have to talk about?" she asked, trying to sound tougher than she felt.

"That's really up to you Justine. You see, Cissa and I already know most everything about each other. But you! Well, you are different. And since my darling sister is not leaving Hogwarts like I am, I think it's time she know what you're really about. Wouldn't you agree Cissa?" Bellatrix looked from Justine to Narcissa with a sly grin, then her eyes wandered over to Jason who was still standing by himself. Her grin widened.

Narcissa rolled her eyes as the guys started shoving each other. She glanced put at Bella and smiled. "Yes Justine, take a seat right here, and let's get to know each other. After all, we have one more year together. My dear sister will be gone, and I won't really have any other girl that I can really talk to, so I suppose you will do. You can take a seat too Bella," said Cissa with a grin.

Justine walked over cautiously. She didn't feel quite as intimidated by Narcissa as she did by Bellatrix, but she still doubted she would end up being best friends with the girl. "Um, OK," she said. "What did you want to talk about?"
