Boredom (Lily)

[Rori Logan]

Rori finally made it into the cabin after talking with Landon, and taking a walk around the grounds. It was getting dark, and it wasn't really safe to be outside when it was dark. Rori sighed and laid down on her bed, now bored. She wanted to do something to keep her out of her boredom, but she couldn't leave the cabin. Rori turned to see Lily there, and decided that she might as well talk to her, since they haven't really been talking that much. "Hey Lily," said Rori sitting up. "What are you doing?"

[Lily Evans]

Lily had been reading, and looked up when Rori spoke to her. "Oh, hey," she said, smiling. "I was just reading this book. It's about this cute little creature called a hobbit, and he goes on this adventure with these dwarves. What's up with you?"

[Rori Logan]

"Nothing really. Just trying to not be bored," replied Rori. "What's a hobbit," she asked. Rori had never heard of the word hobbit before.

[Lily Evans]

Lily shrugged. "It's kind of like a small person... really short, with big, hairy feet." She laughed. "I'm sure it's just made up... although I think it's cool that a lot of mythical creatures are real, and just hidden from muggles. Have you ever seen a dragon before?"

[Rori Logan]

"Not up close," said Rori. "I've seen a dragon from a distance and in books." Rori gave her a smile. "Hobbits sound like neat little creatures. That would be cool if they were actually real."

[Lily Evans]

"That's cool. I've never seen anything like that before. I only dreamed about it." Lily smiled and picked up the book again. "It says that hobbits are peaceful creatures, who would never want to hurt anyone. I wish they were real. Sometimes it seems like too many people out there just want to fight, just to prove they can."

[Rori Logan]

Rori nodded in agreement. "I don't really understand the purpose of fighting. Take the kidnapping of my little brother. What's that supposed to prove? I don't understand it. It's just so confusing," said Rori.

[Lily Evans]

"Oh no, your little brother was kidnapped? You mean Professor Rothschild's baby?" She frowned. "That's horrible. I hope they can get him back. I was thinking about that girl who was killed... Sabrina. She always seemed really nice to me. I can't imagine what You-Know-Who would have to gain by killing little girls and kidnapping babies."

[Rori Logan]

"Yeah," said Rori. "I found out about it when Voltaire showed up at the funeral. I don't know what's gotten into him, well, then. He just different. I haven't heard anything about how's it going or anything." She sighed. "I agree with you. Is he trying to make us scared of him or something?"

[Lily Evans]

"I guess so," said Lily. "It just seems like a waste... going after children. It's sick, you know? My parents were so excited when I got my Hogwarts letter, but if they knew about some of this stuff, they might not want me to keep going here."

[Rori Logan]

"I understand," said Rori. "What could we do to you-know-who? Nothing. Nothing makes sense anymore, but you know that Hogwarts is going to probably be the safest place in the wizarding world."

[Lily Evans]

"Yeah, that's true," Lily said. "I guess if my mom ever asks, I can tell her that. It's just weird, you know? My parents don't really understand this world... they've always lived in the muggle world. And it's weird how I have this power and the rest of my family doesn't. I guess I'm one of the ones that You-Know-Who wouldn't like, because I'm not a pureblood."

[Rori Logan]

"I guess," said Rori. "But I don't care who you're parents are. You're still the same Lily to me. I think that it's stupid for people to judge others by who their parents are. That doesn't make a difference."

[Lily Evans]

"Thanks," Lily said. "I just don't understand why some people judge other people by something that they have no control over, you know? It isn't fair. People should be judged by their skills and talents and the kind of person they are. That's what I think, anyway." She shrugged. "I don't know about you, but this camp thing is starting to get really old. I really just want to go back to school."

[Rori Logan]

"Me too," said Rori, rolling over on the bed. "Now, there's nothing really to do, well, not there was ever really anything to do. I thought camp was going to be fun, but now I'm think it's more of a safe place for us to go, instead of actually going home," she said.

[Lily Evans]

"Yeah, that might be it, actually," Lily agreed. "Although, if that was the purpose, I think we should have stayed at Hogwarts. I always felt safe there, you know? But I guess if Dumbledore's around, we're still pretty safe. No one would dare try anything with him around."

[Rori Logan]

"That's true," said Rori. "I miss just going out. The lake was always nice, but here, it's different," she said. "I can't wait for school to start back, and to tell you the truth, I wouldn't have ever really pictured me saying that," Rori added with a giggle.

[Lily Evans]

Lily laughed. "Yeah, I guess most kids wouldn't really say that. But I love school. I think it's the first place I ever really felt like I belonged. I guess that sounds stupid. But it's really weird going to a muggle school and being able to do weird things that you can't explain. In fact, some kids called me a witch before I ever knew I really was one."

[Rori Logan]

"School is the first place I haven't moved from," said Rori. "I'm glad that my mom just sort of dropped me off. I've had loads more fun. It doesn't sound stupid that you feel like you belong. You should feel that way."

[Lily Evans]

"So, things with you mom were tough, huh?" Lily said. "I'm sorry to hear that. I think I got really lucky to have parents who supported me. But I'm sure things will be better for you now that you have Voltaire and Isabella. They really seem like they love each other a lot." She smiled. "I wonder what that's like... being in love?"
