Sitting alone (open)

[Ruecain White]

It was a nice day out at the black lake. Ruecain decided to sit down underneath a tree and play his harmonica. 'Finally' He thought to himself. ' I can rest for a little while.' It wasn't that he was sick of studying magic. It was just he needed a break from it. He pulled out his harmonica dusted it off and pressed it o his lips as if he was feeling the flow of music coming to him. It was a sad melody but, it had relaxed him deeply. He stop playing when he heard Billy the squid pulling out it's tentacles. 'It seems Billy the Squid likes harmonica music.' Ruecain thought amusingly. He continued playing for Billy until the squid got hungry and decide to eat a small bird that was flying by. "Poor thing," Ruecain said to himself "It must have been near sighted."

[Severus Snape]

Severus had been walking toward his and Natalie's favorite tree, when he saw the small bird get scooped out of the air by the giant squid. He laughed at the sight of the tentacle reaching into the air and plucking out the bird. He heard some one talk out loud to themselves and he leaned around the tree trunk to see an older Ravenclaw boy he didn't really know. Severus decided to try and ignore the older boy, so he started to scramble up the tree with a bit less grace than Natalie did, but he remembered where to put his feet so he wouldn't slide down the trunk. He decided he could stand a bit of company, even if he wanted to be alone really.

Ruecain looked up to see a young slytherin climbing the tree with the least amount of grace that ruecain has seen in years.
"Hey up there!" Ruecain said in a care free tone. He had never care which house someone belong to. " My name is Ruecain! Whats yours bean sprout?" he said with a smile. Ruecain hoped the slytherin wouldn't be mad at him for calling him a bean.

[Severus Snape]

BEAN SPROUT?! who calls anyone a bean sprout! Severus frowned, "My name is Severus Snape." he said it in a flat tone. He wanted to accuse the older boy of stealing his privacy, but he had been there first. Severus thought of why he had been called bean sprout and didn't like the idea of being viewed as a skinny pale green sprout.
"If I'm a Bean sprout, what are you? a potato?" he asked his frown fading a bit as he got comfortable on his branch. He looked out on the lake and watched the faint ripples of the giant squid moving under the water.

Ruecain only smiled. "I love potatoes! thank you Snape-a-doodle!" Ruecain said stretching his arms out a little. " I like Snape-a-Doodle and that's what I am going to call you Snapey!" Ruecain said while getting up and pulling out a cleaning kit to clean his most prized harmonica. He started cleaning it off slowly

Severus felt his eye twitch. "What's with you and horrible nicknames?" he wanted to ask what his surname was, just so he wouldn't be forced to call him by his given name. "So Rune potato what are you messing with?" Severus said with an irritated glance down to the older boy. He seemed a little on the funny side, He wondered if he was muggle born or from a wizarding family. "What year are you in anyway?" He wondered if he knew Rori at all.

Ruecain didn't answered immediately he had barely finished cleaning his harmonica. "Oh I'm a fifth year snapey!" Ruecain said happily as his harmonica was all clean now. "I'm playing my harmonica to Billy the squid. Watch!" Ruecain did not wait for snape to say yes or no to hearing music. He started to play the same song he had played before. It had relaxed him greatly but, it was as sad as the old one. He played for two minutes. Billy the squid's tentacles dance to his tune. " So what did you think of that Snape-a-doodle?" he asked trying for a half serious tone with his usual joking tone.

Severus didn't really like the sound of the harmonica, but it wasn't a bad tune. "His name his Herbert." Severus couldn't help the contradiction. "Call me at least by my proper surname! It's Snape, not Snapey or Snape-a-doodle."
He paused and looked out again toward the lake and said "It's not bad, it's a simple enough tune." it was in an off hand tone. This guy was two years from leaving Hogwarts, but he seemed so oddly immature.

"He is Billy the squid to me though." Ruecain said in a childish tone. Ruecain put away his harmonica and looked at the lake to see Billy's tentacles stop dancing. " oh I almost forgot I never told you my full name...Sorry!" Ruecain said in realization. " I'm Ruecain White."

[Severus Snape]

Ruecain White, It seemed familiar, he was possibly from a wizarding family. It would explain the first name. He thought of his own family and how bitterly they must be different from his. That thought almost depressed him, but he was getting better at distancing himself from such feelings, learning at pushing them away so that he could think and act as if he didn't care at all. It was vaguely like a lesson he had remembered having in professor Rothschild's class. It had been a while ago now. He cleared out the scattered thoughts in his head and said "Do you know Rori? She's...was a friend of mine, She's Professor Rothschild's daughter or adopted daughter." He didn't know why he said that particular fact, but just seemed to want to let that tid bit of information go, to see what Ruecain could tell him of how she was doing.

'Rori?' Ruecain thought, 'Do I know her?' Ruecain didn't answer at first but then he said, "Nope never spoken to the girl...I think at least..." Ruecain ponder for a while about this. "God...now I feel bad...I don't know if I even met this girl or not. I think I have to meet her again to see if I did meet her or not." Ruecain said having a guilty conscience at once about the situation.
"Hey Cerberus what's your family like?" Ruecain said changing the subject faster than Groucho Marx wiggling his eye brows.

[Severus Snape]

Severus frowned. "It's SEVER-US! And my family is two bitter adults and me." he huffed and crossed his arms over his chest, It wasn't nearly as relaxing here with White than it was with Natalie. He wondered if he should stop comparing everyone else's company to hers. He so much preferred hers to most anyone.
"You don't have to feel bad, Rori Logan is two years younger than you...at least. You're a four or Fifth year right?" Gods help him, he was trying to be civil with someone he didn't know. He felt an uncomfortable shiver run down his back and he moved a little on his tree branch. He guessed he would need this skill for when he got older and couldn't just tell people to sod off, even if he was inclined to, but this boy wasn't so bad, just a little too forward. He was so un used to that sort of behavior.

"I just have a mom and a dad. I don't know what they are like at all." Ruecain said in a calm tone. He didn't mean to mix Severus with Cerberus. " I told you severus I'm a fifth year." Ruecain stand up a little to stretch. "Aren't you uncomfortable up there? shouldn't you come down or something?" Ruecain said looking up to see Snape looking quite stiff.

He was right! Drat him for being so. I might be sitting wrong on the branch, Natalie just always seemed to elegantly sit in the right position and the tree wouldn't resent her like it seemed to resent Severus. He wasn't good at climbing, climbing down seemed daunting.
"Never mind me, I wonder how it is that you don't know your own parents, are they always on holiday?" Severus thought they very well could be dead, he could be the last of his line. it was actually getting interesting this conversation.

Ruecain smiled at this. "Holiday...HA! No they just work a lot. If they do come home the house is always quite. My younger sisters don't even know who they are when they come to eat with us. They treat the nanny like a mother more than the real mom." Ruecain said in a sad tone. "anyway I'm gonna stop talking about right now." He paused and sat back down on the grass.

[Severus Snape]

Severus considered for a moment. If both his parents worked, and even paid a Nanny, they must have quite a few children. The detachment when he said 'the mom', as if he had sprung into being without her help at all. Severus weighed the boy with a new perspective, in this case the merry waters ran deep. Finally his backside protesting enough he started his awkward decent from the branch.
" That's fine, I don't like the subject any way." He said as he finally reached the ground with a funny jump.
"Besides that...cerberuses aren't really like family pets, I think they might even be illegal." he said stretching until something 'popped' in his back.

Ruecain saw how Severus climb down. It had reminded of him of how his little sisters climb down stairs. Ruecain laughed and said," God Severus you really think that a three headed dog would be illegal? I mean it might be cute and fluffy." Ruecain ponder on this and then asked," How big do they get Severus?"

[Severus Snape]

Severus frowned and he slumped onto the grass, "I don't know, I guess we can check in "fantastic beasts and where to find them" to know how big they get...It is still a dog...of sorts..." Severus hated being unsure of a fact. He slouched his shoulders and crossed his arms over his knees. He wasn't sure what he was doing here anymore. He guess he was being polite and staying.

"Well if they are legal I would like one." Ruecain said with a firm tone. He stood up and looked up the tree Severus had climbed down. " Hey severus...You half and half...or full blood?" Ruecain asked while climbing up the tree and sitting comfortably on the branch Severus was on.
He didn't know why he had asked the questioned but he was just curious. 'Curiosity killed the cat' came in to his mind.

[Severus Snape]

Severus looked up as Ruecain climbed to the same branch he had been on. He silently considered the question. It didn't bother him as much as he expected it to.
"I am Half. My mother is the last in the line of Prince, my father is a muggle."
It was a simple fact, nothing more. If someone where smart enough they could easily research his family name to find out whom his mother married. She kept it far from secret at the time, announcing it even in the Daily Prophet. His poor deluded mother... He shook the dark thoughts away, love wasn't such a delusion to Severus anymore as much as it was a horrible reality.
"What about you White? Are you a proud wizard of fallen noble birth?" it was a joking sarcasm that coated his joke, making it sound almost as an insult rather than a pointless jibe.
