Cara said nothing as they tried to leave. Her body was wracked with quiet sobs, and she just wanted them gone. If they were looking for a thank you, or a goodbye, they were going to have to look elsewhere.
Like Mathieu, she wanted everyone to disappear. She just wanted to be alone with her grief.

There was no emotion whatsoever on Hayden's face. He stood like a rock against the wall. Not that long ago, he and Roland even talked about dying in the line of work. He remembered telling Roland that if he were to go while he was on a mission, he wanted to take a few with him.
Although, Hayden knew that whatever he did, his cousin and best friend, wasn't coming back. His eyes drifted to Riley. A very small thank you was written on his emotionless face. He knew it had to be hard for her to tell something like that. The more Hayden thought about what happened, the more it made him angry but he knew what ever he did, he couldn't act out right now. There were people that were going to need him at the moment.

Now certain that they had no more questions for her or Angelique, Riley nodded to Hayden, and she left. She walked past him, her resolved crumbling as she went.
She made it outside before Angelique, and finally had her moment of silence, where no one was around. She tried to tell herself that it wasn't the time to do this, but she couldn't stop herself. She sank onto front steps and cried, that vicegrip on her heart tightening.

Angelique stepped out after Riley, and saw her as she sat down and cried. Putting her hand over her mouth, Angelique held back a sob of her own. This was the hardest thing she'd ever had to do. All in all, she would much rather fight Lord Voldemort himself than do this. She was almost tempted to tell Vincent to give her job to someone else... she couldn't take it anymore.
Sighing softly, she walked over to Riley and sat down next to her, putting a soothing arm around her shoulder. She didn't say a word. There were no words.

Riley was going to allow herself just tonight to be weak. She still had things to do, and as much as it felt like the world was ending, it wasn't. That was probably the most heartbreaking part of all... Roland was gone and things just kept moving on.
"It hurts so much, Angelique," she said. "I don't know how to do this. Please tell me how to do this." She needed Angelique to have some miracle answer, but she knew she wouldn't.
She pressed her forhead to her knees, unable to stop the tears at all now, and having no will to put a charm in place.

Angelique's eyes filled with tears as well. What could she tell her? There was no magic answer that she could give that would help Riley deal with this.
"I wish I could," she said softly. "I wish I could fix this... change it... bring him back. It doesn't work that way. It's not fair and it sucks... But that's just how it is sometimes."
She wrapped both arms around Riley and pulled her closer to her. "Just let it out."

Riley couldn't stop herself. She had to cry, or she'd burst from the inside. Merlin, it hurt so much and the pain just kept getting worse.
She didn't know how long she stayed there, but she owed Angelique a lot of staying there with her.
She needed to go, though. She couldn't stay on the Ferrera's front porch forever, so she lifted her head and nodded. "I'm okay."

Cara licked her lips. "We need to pick up Ama and Jamie from the school. I don't want them to hear about this from someone else," she said through her thick tears.
And then she just got up and left. She went into their bedroom and closed the door. Mathieu could come in, she didn't mind, but she couldn't handle anyone else, really. She felt so empty. How could she keep celebrating or even try to entertain the family? She was done.

Hayden finally broke his slience. "I'll get them Uncle Mathieu. While I'm there, I'll get Liam and Sheena too," he said. "I'll go to Dumbledore first then I'll get them." He ran a hand over his face. "I'm not sure where Cyrus is, but I could send him a message to come over if you would like." Hayden was going to step and be whatever he had to be at the moment.

Mathieu couldn't move. He was literally frozen in place, and was unaware of anything or anyone still in the room. He was currently lost inside his own head, replaying the afternoon's lunch with Roland. He'd spent half of the time in his study, instead of with his son. And had he told Roland that he loved him? He couldn't remember. He hugged him.... that he remembered. But had he said those simple words? Had he ever said them to him? He couldn't remember. And it frightened him. What if Roland had died, not knowing how much his father loved him? What if that was the reason he took such a risk in fighting these death eaters alone with only Riley for back up?
He let out a low moan, but didn't move or make a sound.

Looking to his father, he was trying to comfort Suri, but Hayden knew that Judah was teary eyed himself. Hayden knew that it was going to be even more of a heartbreak when the others found out, especially Ama and Jamie. Keeping the stone like expression on his face, he walked over to his uncle and hugged him. Hayden wasn't usually one for hugs, but Mathieu still appeared as he was in shock.
"I'll be right back with the others and then I'll go check on Aunt Cara." Hayden still wasn't sure how he was holding it all together at the moment. Although he was sure that he was numb.

She couldn't stay on the Ferrera's front porch forever, so she lifted her head and nodded. "I'm okay." Angelique heaved a sigh. Getting to her feet, she held her hand out to Riley to help her up. "You know... maybe we should just let the family handle the rest of this. They'll want to do it in their own way. You should really go home and try to get some rest. And you should probably take some time off."

"Okay," Riley said. She wasn't going to take any time off. She felt like she needed to go run a marathon to keep herself busy right now. She didn't want to stop or slow down or think. So no, she wouldn't take any time off work.
But she didn't feel like arguing the point with Angelique just yet. She was too tired, and probably couldn't win an arguement with a paperbag in her current state.
"You said you had questions... do you want to get them over with now, or...?"

Angelique shook her head. At this point, she was already so exhausted that she'd forgotten what her questions were. What right did she even have to be this exhausted? And here was Riley, still somehow going. She had to be running on fumes at this point.
"No. It's OK, we'll deal with it tomorrow, or the day after. Whenever you're ready."

Riley nodded, but said, "Tomorrow. I want to get this over with... your questions, Vincent's, the reporters. I want it all out of the way so people will just leave me alone and let me work."
It sounded almost heartless, but it was the only way she knew to handle this... was simply by not handling it at all. She would force herself through this, and she needed others to allow her to do so.
"I'm going to go home now, though. When should I come in tomorrow? I know it's a holiday... but this has to be taken care of."

Angelique could understand the need to keep busy. She was the same way, actually. She just hoped Riley would take the time to mourn. She wouldn't do anyone any good if she collapsed.
"Just come in whenever you can. I'll be in all day. I have a lot of work to do."

"Okay," Riley said again. She ran a hand through her hair, feeling the adrenaline finally leaving her body, and it made her even more exhausted.
"Okay," she said. "I'll see you in the morning. I just... I need to go sleep." Or maybe that was dangerous. Maybe she would sleep and never get up again.
She shook the thought away before she could start crying again, and looked at Angelique. "Thank you," she said, and with a pop!, she was gone.
