Kristen laughed. "Well, I wouldn't get too used to it," she said teasingly looking up at him. She didn't even know why her and Reese even began to tease each other and all that in the first place, but it was always fun. She continued to look up at him, studying his face. For a moment, everything in the hospital seemed to fade out for a moment while she studied his face. As Reese spoke, it brought her back to reality. She shouldn't be zoning out like that, it just wasn't really healthy. "Um, I guess," she said almost shyly. Kristen knew that there were people far more injured than her and right now, she was just in the way. In the hospital wing, Reese nodded and stood up, pulling Kristen to her feet with him. The hospital wing was too chaotic, too frightening at this point, and if something was wrong with Kristen, he would have known. He put his arm around her though to support her. More than anything, he just didn't want her witnessing this anymore. He took her to the Gryffindor common room, not minding letting her hear the password or anything. "Sit down," he told her. The common room was eerie and empty. Everyone must have been downstairs. "I'm going to see what I can get to help you. I'll be right back."

Once Reese pulled her up and put his arm around her, Kristen couldn't help but lean into him slightly. It felt natural for her to do so. She made sure that she looked were she was going so she wouldn't trip.
Seeing the victims of the attack helped Kristen decide where she really wanted to go in life. She wanted to help heal, and she was going to cling to that idea.
Kristen was taking steps in the time it took Reese to take one so she could keep up. Once they entered the common room, she took a seat on the couch. "Aye, aye, Captain," she said with a teasing tone to attempt to lighten the expression on Reese's face.
After he disappeared, she made herself comfortable on the couch by sitting all the way back on the couch and crossing her legs. Kristen took a glance around the common room as she waited patiently.

Leaving her alone had been a very bad idea, as it turned out, for Reese's well being, anyway. His thoughts immidiately went to all of the people still in The Three Broomsticks that he had left behind, to Jackie and Sin and Alyx... he didn't know how any of them were.
He shook his head and grabbed a small first aid kit and took the stairs two at a time to get back to Kristen. At least she was okay.
"Okay," he said, sitting next to her on the couch and opening the kit between them. "Look... pain killing potions. Do you need one?"

Her mind wandered how many students actually made it back and how many were left behind. She didn't really want to think of the death toll, but that thought entered her mind anyway. She wished that she had studied the healing spell book that she had more closely so that way she could have possibly helped a few students, even if they had just small cuts and such.
Once Reese returned, Kristen thought that he looked a little funny carrying a first aid kit, but she kept the comment to herself. "I'm a big girl," she said confidently. "I can take a little stinging. It's nothing bad, just a cut. My brain is not oozing out of that cut, so I think I'll pass on the pain killing potions." She gave him a smile.

"I know you are," Reese said, his voice softer than he intended. "Just thought I would offer them."
He took out another potion, though, reading the lable before he handed it to her, and then soaked a cloth in something to clean the wound. She was lucky that it wasn't really that bad. "You're still feeling okay, right?" He asked, then, he smiled. "You were sticking around to help people. I knew there was a little Gryffindor in you somewhere, Yellow."

"But thank you," she said after his voice softened.
Kristen remained still as Reese cleaned the cut. "Yeah, I'm feeling alright. Are you still feeling alright?" She gave him a light smile after she exagerated the 'you' in her question. "And, I couldn't just leave them there. However, I think you've rubbed off a little on me Red." Her smile widened slightly. "I couldn't just run by them while they were hurt. I tried the best I could, and you did too."

"Well, if you stayed and played the hero because I've rubbed off on you a little, then I'm kind of honoured. But also not pleased, because you could have been really hurt," Reese said. He was inspired by her a little, though, and found a new admiration of her that she stayed. She was braver than he was, because he eventually ran.
"I'm fine, Kristen," he said. "I promise."
He touched his wand to her temple, very lightly, and the cut closed up. Reese smiled. "I should be a healer."

"I didn't ever really think about that," she said honestly. "Getting seriously hurt was not on my list of things to do, and I was careful." Kristen didn't think about herself, because there were others around her, and she wasn't going to just leave them sitting there.
"I have been planning on becoming a healer." She smiled once the cut was closed. "Thanks Reese Cup. But I think that you'd make a pretty good healer, but of course, I think that you'll do pretty good in whatever you decide to do."

"You're a better person than I am." Reese would never admit it in a thousand years, but he froze up in Hogsmeade. Yes, he continued what Jackie started... for a while. And then he just knew it would be smarter to leave, and every person he left in the Three Broomsticks was left on his mind now. He would never share this with Kristen, or anyone.
"You're going to make a good healer, Cupcake. You've got a better bedside manner than any person I know. You can do it. Maybe I'll get sick on purpose just to come make sure you're doing your job."

Kristen blushed lightly. Hopefully she would make a good healer. She was already studying what she could from the medispells book she had. "Thanks Reese Cup. As long as you don't come to me injuried badly, everything would turn out okay." She gave a smile. Goodness knew that once she did become a healer, and Reese came to her with a serious injury, she would worried all the time.
"But you do a pretty decent job of taking care of people, and I appreciate that."

Reese couldn't help but notice the blush on her cheeks, and it kind of made him feel warmer. How was that even possible?
"Why?" Reese asked her, once again ignoring her nickname for him, because, honestly, it didn't even bother him that much. "You're only going to heal the minorly injured people? That seems somewhat prejudiced for a Hufflepuff."

Kristen rolled her eyes. "I would heal everyone, no matter their injuries or sickness," she said. She tried to chose her next string of words carefully. "Its just you're my friend, well probably one of my closest friends, and I think that I would worry more for you. Of course, I would worry about my other patients too, but you know what I mean." Kristen bit the inside of her cheek to prevent her from saying anything else.

"Mhhm," Reese said, considering this. They were pretty close, though they had their moments. They teased each other a lot, but Kristen was one of the few girls who could handle it without pouting or crying, and that was one of the reasons Reese liked her. That, and she knew he was just kidding. He would never intentionally say anything to hurt her.
"I know what you mean," he said. "But I think it'd be payback for all the teasing, wouldn't it? Just to let me suffer."

She shook her head. "I couldn't just let you suffer, cause then I'd really feel bad. Besides, I don't think I'd like it very much if you were on the bed suffering, when I could be teasing you and vice versa." A smile spread across her face. "I like you when you're perfectly fine, after all who is going to drag me back somewhere safe if I decide to do something brave in a dangerous situation? You couldn't do that if you were just lying in a bed suffering." She gave him a teasing look. Kristen knew that she liked it whenever they would talk with each other, even if there was no teasing involved.

It was easier to talk outside of the Hospital Wing, and Reese was glad he brought her back here.
"I'm glad you weren't hurt, for doing that brave stuff in a dangerous situation. Not worse than you were, anyway. I was worried about you... so teasing aside... yeah, I get it. I understand."
Truth was, he wasn't expecting to be nearly as worried about her as he was. "Just do me a favor and come find me first next time."

Even though that they were friends, Kristen couldn't help but feel a swarm of butterflies being let loose in her stomach as Reese said that he was worried about her. She would be lying if she said it didn't make her feel better that he had been worried.
"I was looking for you actually," she admitted. "I was around the Shrieking Shack and I heard the explosion. I thought that you probably went, and I was worried." Kristen reached up and stratched the side of her neck. "Then I saw those other ones around, and thought that I would help them while I looked for you."

"Well... good," Reese said. He still wished she hadn't been in Hogsmeade at all, but it made him feel better to know that she was looking for him. "I'll try and let you find me sooner next time. Merlin forbid there's a next time," he added quickly.
"I think you're all patched up, Cupcake," he said, brushing her hair away from where the wound was on her temple. It looked healed now, no evidence to the contrary. "You can go back to being a hero again." His smile at this was crooked.

"I hope your patching up holds up," Kristen said teasing Reese a little. The blush remained on her cheeks as he brushed her hair away from where her stratch had been. If he ever questioned her on it, she would deny that she was, in fact, blushing.
"You're Superman," she said. "I'm just an everyday person." Kristen gave him a smile and stood up slowly. "I suppose that I should be making my way back to my common room."

"It'll hold," Reese promised, and he knew it would. He wouldn't have done anything less than his best for her. Because she was, as odd as it seemed, his best friend, right? After years of teasing her and pulling on her pigtails, it turned out that he cared about her more than anyone.
He smiled. "I'm no superman," he told her. Honestly, he thought she was the real hero out of this. "But you can be my Lois Lane, okay?" He stood when she did, ready to at least walk her to the portrait.

The mention of being Lois Lane, made the hotness in her cheeks reappear. "Alright Clark Kent," she said smiling. "Since you are Superman, I understand that you have to keep your identity secret. I won't tell anyone, promise." Kristen was still teasing a little. She wouldn't mind being Reese's Lois Lane, even if she did tease him.
Once they reached the potrait, Kristen turned back to Reese again. "I'll see you tomorrow. Get some sleep, okay?" She gave a light smile. There was a funny feeling in her stomach as a thought crossed her mind. Without thinking, and just before she turned to walk out of the portrait, she said "Oh, and Reese Cup?" Kristen took a small step toward him and stood on her tip toes and kissed his cheek. It was a couple seconds longer than some quick peck on the cheek. "Thank you, again."
Her cheeks were red, and she turned toward the portrait. "Night Reese," she called shyly as she walked from the portrait and toward the stairs. Once she was out of view, Kristen ran all the way down to her dorm.
