"No. It's nothing to be sorry about. Truth be told, until I met you I had never really thought about the fact that I had no family. It never bothered me, it was just the way it was. I'm sure it must have been different for you though, having known your parents at one time. Even if you can't really remember them. But that does make sense. I had looked up records on your surname, out of pure curiosity I assure you." Bridget didn't want for Morgan to think that she was obsessed, even though that was what it was turning out to be. "And the last mention of any Fontana was over 100 years ago, aside from some muggle relations now in Austria. Your records, they must have burned in the fire as well?"

Morgana was unable to stop the shiver that went through her as Bridget admitted that she had looked up her last name. She had known that Bridget was likely to try digging up information about her family, but hearing it was still disturbing. Perhaps it would be better to end this sooner, rather than later. If she let the slayer get too close, it could be disaster for her.
"Yes," she said softly. "All the records were destroyed. Everything was destroyed."

Ed wasn't having a very good night. He hadn't had any luck with finding the werewolves that were causing problems, but he was able to run straight into the middle of a mugging. Some young punk kid was trying to take an older man's wallet, so of course Ed stepped in. The kid didn't get the wallet but he did give Ed a black eye and a stinging curse that still made him twitch a little as he walked up the stairs to Bridget's house.
Upon opening the door he realized Bridget had company. Strange company. The girl sitting next to Bridget looked exactly like her, only younger and ghostly pale. This was obviously the Morgan that Bridget had told him about, but she looked much different than he was expecting. He couldn't put his finger on it, but there was something off about her. If he had any sort of training, or perhaps more experience with vampires he might have noticed it right away. Unlike Bridget, he was not so invested in this girl that he was blind to the obvious. He was just ignorant. "Uh, hello Bridg. Sorry to interrupt. You must be Morgan." He hesitated before offering his hand politely to her.

Morgana lowered her eyes as the slayer's boyfriend came home. She had hoped to avoid meeting him until she was able to control the situation a little better. Things were spiraling desperately out of control, and this wasn't the way she had hoped this would go. She needed Evan... he was much better at coming up with plans and being sneaky. It was only a matter of time before she got caught in her own web of lies.
When Ed addressed her, Morgana shrank away, playing shy. "Um... hi. Yes, I'm Morgan." She glanced at his hand, remembering the traditional way humans seemed to greet each other. She was holding her teacup in her right hand, so she switched it to her left hand, in order that she could give him the hand that was warmed by the tea cup. If he felt her icy skin, he might have been suspicious.

Bridget became excited when Ed arrived. She would be able to finally introduce him to the mysterious Morgan, and even though he was very understanding and not at all condescending when he supported her, it eased her own mind knowing that he now was not thinking she had made the girl up. She waited until Morgan and Ed had exchanged pleasantries to give Ed a warm embrace. "You're not interrupting anything dear. Morgan is going to stay the night tonight." She looked back at Morgan and smiled a little. "And I'm going to chat her ear off until she's too tired to deal with me anymore."

Morgan's hand was cool, but there was nothing strange there. Ed wished he could figure out what about the girl he found odd, and until he could do so he wouldn't mention anything to Bridget. She was too excited about Morgan, he wouldn't to do anything to ruin that. he loved to see her happy, even if it made him feel a bit off at times. He lived for Bridget. "Well, I'll let you get to it then. Would you like me to set up the guest room?"

Morgana lowered her head, still playing shy, but her eyes were still on Ed's face. He didn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed, so to speak, but he was definitely looking at her with suspicious eyes. She didn't think he was smart enough to figure it out too quickly... after all, Bridget was a slayer and she hadn't fiigured it out. According to Morgana's research, Ed hadn't done much more than fight a bear or two. What did he know about vampires? If she kept up the innocent act, he probably wouldn't think anything of it.
"Er... I guess so," she said. "But really, I don't want to impose."

"Not at all," was all he said as he slipped into the back of the house to fix up the bed and gather a few more blankets. Morgan seemed cold, probably from being outside too long. Ed wanted to make sure she warmed up and enjoyed her stay, it was important to Bridget.

Bridget blew a kiss to Ed as he left them, and then turned back to Morgan. "It's really not a problem at all. We'll get everything settled in the morning." Bridget chewed her lower lip, thinking of what else she could ask that Morgan might know the answer to. The women were in similar situations, only Bridget seemed to come out of it better. She had her life situated, a steady boyfriend, and a great job. Morgan was a wanderer with obvious troubles. She felt for the girl, more so than she might have if they hadn't looked so eerily alike.
