Looking for Robin

[James Potter]

"Why don't you think of a room that could combine all of them? Think of somewhere you could go swimming and a place to dance and relax. It should work," he said. "I've never imagined a swimming pool inside, but I don't see why it wouldn't appear in there. It is supposed to have everything you imagine on the inside." James was having fun watching Robin get excited over the little things.

"OK," Robin said. She took a deep breath, then closed her eyes. She envisioned a room with a swimming pool, a dance floor with a spinning disco ball and music playing, and several large, squishy couches. Then she walked past the room three times, still holding the image of the room in her head.

Finally she opened her eyes to see a door on the wall in front of her. She grinned. "I guess we go in now?"

James watched with interest as Robin crossed in front of the wall. A smile was playing on his lips as she seemed to be concentrating. Once the door appeared, James walked over to it and opened it for her.

"Yes, we do walk in now, but ladies first," he said motioning for her to enter the room. James followed her in and closed the door behind him. He looked around and then looked to Robin. "You have a great imagination." He gave her a wink.

Robin opened the door and stepped inside the room. Immediately, her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. The room in front of her was bigger than she'd expected, with a full-length indoor pool, complete with a sliding board and a diving board. There were deck chairs set up in front of the pool, complete with towels and bathings suits.

A little past the pool was the dance floor. The lights were dark and flashy, with a silvery disco ball spinning overhead. She recognized some muggle music playing from somewhere.

Then there was the lounge area, with the big, squishy couches covered with soft-looking pillows and blankets.

"Wow!" she gasped. "That's amazing!" She giggled. "What do you want to do first? Should we go swimming?"

"Yes, we can go swimming," said James as he looked around the room. "No matter how many times I use this room, it never ceases to amaze me." Of course, the only thing that James ever used it for was when he, Remus, Sirius, and Peter came up with pranks. They didn't want a lot of people to over hear them and it was great if they were going to make their own pranks.

He walked over to the bathing suits and picked up the pair of swim trunks. "Race you changing," he said with a grin.

Robin giggled and ran to the chair that had the bathing suits draped across it. She picked one out and ran for one of the little dressing rooms that lined the wall behind the pool.

She dressed as quickly as she could, pausing only a second to check out her reflection in the little mirror. It fit perfectly and even made her look a little more curvy than she actually was.

Once she was ready, she emerged from the dressing room. "I'm ready!" she said excitedly.

As soon as Robin disappeared in one of the dressing rooms, so did James. He quickly changed and reappeared just as Robin was opening her door. Once she stepped out, James couldn't help but just stare at her for a moment. His cheeks turned red, but he quickly diverted his eyes up to hers.

James grinned. "Come on then," he said as he dove into the water head first. He resurfaced and wiped at his face before glancing toward Robin.

Robin realized he was looking at her and blushing, and she felt her own cheeks flooding with warmth. She wasn't used to being looked at like that by boys. Normally she had no curves to speak of. She was, after all, just a thirteen year old girl. But the bathing suit seemed to accentuate what little figure she had and made her look better than she was used to looking. Obviously James noticed it. She was flattered, but shy.

So she quickly hurried over and dove in after him. Her hair would be ruined, but it hardly mattered.

Surfacing a few feet away from him, she pushed her hair back out of her eyes. "The water's perfect!" she said.

He laughed as Robin resurfaced. "Yes it is," he replied. "I half expected it to be freezing at first." James grinned playfully and splashed water in her direction before swimming away. "And in this water, we don't have to worry about anything reaching up and grabbing us."

Robin was more perfect that James thought. She didn't scold him like he was a five year old child when he would tell of the pranks that he and Sirius usually pulled, nor did she look at him like he was the bad guy. Maybe hanging around Robin more was exactly what he needed.

"Hey!" Robin cried as James splashed her and swam away. Laughing, she swept her hands in front of her, trying to splash him back. She moved towards the side of the pools and pushed off, swimming closer to him.

James reached up and wiped the water out of his eyes after Robin splashed him. He laughed and shook his head. He watched her curiously as she moved toward the side and started coming closer to him. James started to move backward a little bit still watching her. He raised an eyebrow. "What are you thinking," he asked her questioningly yet he had an amused look on his face.

Robin grinned as she swam closer. "I was thinking...." she said slowly as she finally reached him, "that you look like you need to be dunked!" Laughing, she shot forward and pushed him under the water, then quickly released him, so that he was only under the water for a few seconds.

He looked at her with the same curiousity. There wasn't any telling what was going on in that brain of hers. James held his breath and Robin pushed him under.

He resurfaced and laughed. "Thanks Robin. I needed that," he said wiping his eyes. James looked at her with a playful look. They were close, and he smiled. "And I'm thinking that you might need the same thing..." James gently pushed her under, then let her go as soon as he pushed her under.
