Meghan had been walking around Diagon Alley for a while when she decided to drop in on Jasper in the Quidditch shop and see how he was doing. She walked in and saw that Jasper was working with a costomer, so she walked over toward the new robes and looked around until he was done.

Jasper had been helping different customers all morning and the lady he was working with this time was buying her sons all new quidditch items for Christmas. He didn't have a problem helping the customers, in fact he did enjoy it. He saw that Meghan came in and he gave her a smile before turning his attention back to the person he was working with.
The lady finally got everything she wanted to get and paid for it. Jasper bid her goodbye and then headed for the robes since no one else was in the shop. "Hey Meg," he said walking up to her. "What brings you here?"

"I had to stop by the bank and I thought I'd drop by and check in on you," Meghan said with a sweet smile. She had noticed the amount of people that had been comming in had grown due to the holidays arriving. "How's everything here? Busy?" Meg asked.

"I feel loved," Jasper said putting a hand to his heart. "Someone came to check up on me!" He wiped away a fake tear, and then smiled. "Yeah, it's been busy around here. Of course the holidays are coming up. This morning I think has been the busiest. I hadn't had a chance to stop and really catch a breath before a customer has a question. Although, I don't mind it. Since it's close to lunch time, things slow down for about an hour and then they start pouring in again."
Jasper studied her for a moment. She looked as good as she always had. He bit his bottom lip before speaking. "So, how about you? Have you been busy lately?"

"Not too busy really," Meghan said. "Some Christmas shopping here and there, but nothing to make me extraordinarly busy."
At the mention of lunch, Meg remembered she hadn't eaten yet today and that she was hungry. She placed a delicate hand on her stomach, but said nothing about it. "Well, now you have a chance to breathe, cuz I'm here!" she said with a wide smile. "Did you need any help?" she added, knowing that her afternoon was free and that she'd be happy to help out her best friend.

"I don't know about me breathing with you around, you keep me going and going," he said teasingly. Jasper noticed that she put a hand to her stomach. "Well, I do have some food in the back actually. I made sure to make something at home and bring it today rather than having to wait until I got home from work and then eat. I have plenty if you want some." He motioned for her to follow him to the back.
"After this, I just have to put up a few more things on the shelves that emptied out and I'll be set for the next rush."

Meghan followed Jasper back to the back room. "Thanks," she said, taking a part of his lunch and sitting on one of the unopened boxes.
"Do you need any help with the shelves?" she offered. "Or the rush? You don't have anyone else working here today, do you?" Meg asked.

"I guess I could use a little bit of help. It's just me in here now. The other person ended up quitting. It's not that bad really except if you have about ten or twelve customers wanting you to help them all at the same time and they want different items." Jasper just gave a shrug. He had gotten used to being the only one working in the shop. "Although, if you want to help I'm not going to stop you."

"He quit?" Meghan asked, only a little shocked. "Why? What did you do?" She asked the second part in a teasing tone.
"And I don't mind helping, for a little while at least," Meg added. "Any longer and you'll have to give me a job."

"I didn't do anything Ms. Meyer. I think you scared him off last time you came in here. The next day he ended up quitting, honestly. You are a little intimidating." Of course Jasper was teasing her. He wasn't sure why Thomas quit.
"Well, at least we would have a helper that could attract more guys in here, although I don't know if I'd ever get anything sold." He gave her a wink to let her know that he was just kidding. "But thanks for helping Meg. It'll make a lot of difference."

"Me scare him away? I did nothing of the sort Mr. McNeil," Meghan laughed. The box she was sitting on made a jingling noise and she looked at it curiously. "What's in these boxes, Jasper?" Meg asked, pointing toward the half a dozen boxes scattered around the back room. "I could swear they've been here since summer," which was likely. Meghan knew that it was most likely something that involved Jasper to take time and effort to focus on, and after a while simply gave up and tossed the boxes aside and let them sit there through the fall and into the winter.

"You're right. Those boxes have been sitting there since the summer. There are bells in there, although I'm not sure why in the world people would send bells to the Quidditch Shop. However, there is a box behind you that has new Quidditch practice balls in it. I need to unpack that one soon." Jasper shook his head. It wasn't the fact that he minded working, it was just he never did fight for anything and it always seemed that everything he started he would give up on, however the Quidditch shop was his exception.
"If you want, you can unpack that one while I grab another box and restock the shelves."

"Sounds good," Meghan smiled. She stood up off the box and sat on the floor, using her wand to open the box. "Why would you buy bells anyway? What does a Quidditch supplies store need them for?" Meghan laughed as she pulled out one of the smaller bells and jingled (?) it.

Jasper shrugged. "I think they were intended for Christmas decorations. I think there were a few wreaths in there to hang on the door. If you want to decorate the shop with that stuff, then you are more than welcome to do it. I'm not that great when it comes to decorating. That's more your thing."

Meghan wanted to ask why Jasper ordered Christmas decorations in the summer, but thought better of it and began to put the decorations up around the shop. After a while, her work was done, and the Quidditch shop was set for the holidays.
She walked over to where Jasper was working, and, after making sure there were no cutsomers around, walked up behind him and plopped an extra wreath on his head. "All done," she said, laughing.

As Meghan started to decorate the shop, Jasper picked up a box and went to one of the shelves and started to restock it. He hoped that he would have plenty of extra stuff in the back just in case he did get sold out of the apparent popular items such as the practice quidditch balls.
Jasper wasn't paying attention to anyone coming up behind him until he felt something go over his head. "Oh, someone thinks their funny," he said turning around. When he turned around he caught hold of Meghan's arm. He took the wreath off and set it on the shelf while still looking at her. Jasper had brought her closer to him before he realized what he was doing.
When she was closer than she had been, Jasper's breath caught slightly. He started to feel slightly awkward, so he took his free hand and poked her in the side with a playful grin. "If we weren't in the middle of a store I would hold you down and tickle you until you cried mercy. Now that would be funny." He gave her a wink before returning to his box.

"Actually, yes, I believe I am quite funny," Meghan laughed as Jasper turned around. He caught her arm and somehow the two had ended up closer than planed, causing Meg's stomach to tighten slightly. She willed her cheaks not to blush as he too noticed their closeness.
Then Jasper grinned and poked Meghan in the side, causing her to squeek. "Hey," she said with a laugh. Then he winked and let go and Meghan turned away, taking the extra wreath with her and placing it on her own head, smiling as she walked toward the back couunter with a skip in her step.

Jasper laughed as Meghan sort of skipped to the back. He watched her until she reached the back counter and he just shook his head. Meghan was something else. She was always able to make him laugh even if he felt bad. Of course, Jasper loved her for it.
When they were in school the two dated, however they ended it because Jasper wasn't really fighting for her. He never was able to fight for anything. Most of the time, he never finished what he started and that was just the way he was. He wished that he could finish things he started, outside of his work, but he hadn't been able to. Jasper thought about possibly asking Meghan out again. Although, she was more than likely to say no because he wouldn't fight for her. That was his number one weakness, and hopefully one day that would change before it became to late.

Once Meghan made it behind the counter and out of sight of Jasper, she sighed. That Jasper was really something else. He's been her best friend for a long time now.
When they were dating at Hogwarts, it was one of the best times in Meghan's life. But it was short lived. Unless it was work-related, Jasper never fought for anything, including keeping her as his girlfriend. Though years later, the two were still close, and Meg knew that no matter what, she'd always love Jasper. She just wished that, if she began to pull away, he'd fight for her to stay. But he wouldn't, he couln't, and Meghan wanted to help him, but she really didn't know how.

While he was still working on the decorations and making sure that they were perfect, Jasper sighed. He had messed up during school. He had become a coward and let things just fall. That was what he was and he knew that just about everyone knew it. The only thing that he worked extremely hard on was the Quidditch shop. Yes, quidditch was his favorite, but in a way, that made it seem like Quidditch was the number one important thing in his life. It wasn't. Meghan was. Yes, she might not know it, and Jasper didn't do a good job of showing it, but she was. Somehow he was going to show her. If she started to just disappear from him, Jasper wouldn't know what he would do. He couldn't lose her in any way. If he did, then he knew that he would just hide away from the world. He was not going to let that happen, but he didn't know how he was going to prevent it just yet.
"Hey Meg, while you're back there, can you grab me the box that has gloves written on it," he called.
