"It's not about liking little miss Suzie Q," Tanya replied, opening her mouth to say more, but a look from Thatcher actually shut her up. It wasn't often that she was quiet for anyone, or listened to anyone, except those she had respect for. Usually, she had respect for Zach too, though it was often misplaced. Today, though... today, he was just being foolish.
He was still her older brother, though. If she thought about it fairly, she supposed she should give the American the chance.
She sighed and called one of the house elves. "Nitty, pull up the family records on a woman named Suzette Rousseau, and bring them back to us, please."
There was no reason in hanging her lineage over Zachary's thread when they didn't even know her family. Zach promised she had good bloodlines... it was time to prove him right.

Thatcher had given Tanya the look because he was easing up on Zach. Most of this, although genuinely born from anger, had been a test to Zach as well. Granted, Zach probably just saw him as the overbearing, demanding brother. But he wanted to push Zach until he gave in.
Zach had not given in, which meant this girl meant something to him, even if it wasn't love.
"We'll figure something out, Zach. It'll be all right, in the end."
