Bellatrix needed a reason to talk to Leo Agathon, she needed to see what was going on with him and Rori Logan and at the request of the Dark Lord she needed to see if he was Death Eater material and wanting. She followed him into the library, trying to figure out how to get him away from his friends so they could chat. She had to lure him somehow...
Figuring he was the helpful type, she loaded her arms with books, far too many for one person to balance for long. She walked within his view, only a few feet away and between rows of shelving. Then, very loudly, she tripped and dropped the books all over the floor. Hopefully this would catch his eye.

Like any good Ravenclaw, Leo was hard at work in the library, working on a project. He had just finished carrying a stack of books to an empty table near the front of the library, and was about to start work. Just as he opened the first book, he heard a crash and looked up to see the Defense Against the Dark Arts assistant bent over a stack of books that she had very clearly dropped.
Immediately, he jumped to his feet and rushed over to help her. "Hey, are you OK, Miss Black?" he asked. "Do you need some help?"

She was pleased that she was able to lure him to her so easily. Thus far he was easy to read. The helpful type. She could use that, but hoped there was more to him. She desperately wanted him to be interesting, mix up her dull stay at the castle. "Oh yes please. Thank you Leo. Oh, I mean Mr Agathon." She laughed. "I'm not used to such formalities yet." She began, slowly, to stack the books into a pile on the floor.

"Oh, no problem, Ms. Black," he said. "I'm glad to help. I've pretty much done the same thing a few times myself. I always pick up more books than I can carry." He laughed lightly, even as he quietly surveyed Bellatrix.
Everyone knew Bellatrix, of course, from her time as a student. He'd never thought her to be particularly nice back then, but she seemed fine now. Maybe she had just been frustrated with life as a student. "It must be weird being back here again, huh? I mean, you thought you were out, only to come back as an assistant. Are you planning to be a teacher?"

"I was thinking about it. But I figured I had better test the waters before jumping in, you know. I wasn't sure if I'd be cut out to be a professor. And luckily there was an opening in one of my better subjects." The last statement was the only true thing she uttered, but if you didn't know she was lying, you wouldn't have been able to tell. She had been studying some of the older Death Eaters, noting their mannerisms as they spun web after web of lies to unknowing witches and wizards. It was a talent that she had been honing for months now. "What about you?" she asked as she placed the last of the fallen books on the now very tall stack. "I know you still have a few years to go, but do you have any idea what you'll be doing once you're out of here?"

Leo was a little surprised that Bellatrix Black was asking him such a question. She had always seemed so cold back when she was a student. But she was certainly acting nice now. Maybe graduation had really done wonders for her. ""Well, I was kind of thinking of being a healer, actually. I want to help people, you know? I think I'd be pretty good at it."

He wanted to help people. Of course. She could have groaned, but didn't. She put a smile on her face instead. "A healer? I would have thought you'd go for something more...I don't know, more prestigious. Like maybe an Auror. You know, a power position."

Leo smiled shyly. "I don't know... do you really think so? I mean, I used to think about being an auror... but I'm not sure I'm cut out for it. I could think about it, though. My parents always say I should be more ambitious." He glanced up at her, wondering why he was suggesting this to him. Was she genuinely interested in what he wanted to do after school?

She smiled innocently as she levitated the large stack of books with her wand and moved them over to an empty table. They landed with a dull thud that shook the table slightly. "You should think about it. I bet you'd be a natural. And girls like a man with power." She pulled out the nearest chair and sat lightly, not pausing long enough for him to take this move as a sign to leave. "But I bet you don't have any problem with girls."

Leo blushed. Girls usually liked him, it was true. He wasn't naive, and he knew that he was good-looking. But he was humble enough to be embarrassed by all the attention, especially when he really only liked one girl. Since he'd been seeing Rori, it was like all other girls had faded into the background, while the brilliant white spotlight shone on her.
"Well, yeah... I have a girlfriend," he said, shyly looking down at his feet.

Then Bellatrix's assumptions the other day in Defense were accurate. Leo's girlfriend had to be Rori Logan. No boy who blushed so intensely at the mention of girls liking him would ever two time a girlfriend. And even more amusing was his shy glance downward at his own mention of a girlfriend. Could he really be so...sweet? Bellatrix did not like sweet, but she would play the role given to her. She needed to get more information out of him.
She arched her eyebrows in surprise and tilted her head slightly. "Oh? And who is the lucky girl?"

Leo continued to blush, and his eyes took on a dreamy, faraway look. "Rori Logan," he said, and his chest puffed out a little as he said her name. Rori had to be the prettiest girl in the school, and he couldn't believe his own luck that she would actually want to go out with him. "I'm going to ask her to the dance tonight at dinner," he added needlessly.

He doe-eyed look was sickening to her. If Rodolphus had ever looked at her like that she would have slapped him, possibly cursed him. But she kept her facade going flawlessly, smiling and making a small, adoring "oh," sound. "I can't see why she wouldn't go with you. I'll bet she'll be so happy once you ask her. She'll probably be putty in your hands."

Leo continued to smile. He wasn't entirely sure why Bellatrix was talking to him about Rori, or at all, really. But he liked talking about Rori. She made him happier than he'd ever expected to be. "I'm pretty sure she'll say yes... I mean, who else would she want to go with? But, well... I still want it to be special, you know? Do you think maybe I should give her flowers or something?"

"Hmm...Flowers are a little generic. You should get her something more personal. What sort of things does she like to do with her free time? Besides hanging out with you of course." She hated giving this little do-gooder advice but if she wanted to get on his good side. He would be the easiest way to Rori. Clearly he was not going to be of any real use to the Dark Lord, she wouldn't even bother having Him look Leo over once to be sure. But he could be the gateway to Rori and that made him useful enough that she had to play nice, no matter how nauseated it made her.

Leo thought this over for a minute. "That's a good idea, actually... but what would she like? I mean... she likes books, but that's not exactly a romantic gift. Hmmm... what about candy? Or is that too generic, too? I know she likes candy, but then, who doesn't?" He sank into a chair at the table, frowning deeply.
It worried him a little that he didn't quite know Rori enough to know what kind of gift she would like. He loved her, right? Shouldn't he know what she liked?

Bellatrix stood for a moment, thinking on where she ought to sit. Her first instinct was to sit across from him, which meant that she should sit next to him. So she pulled out the chair to the left of his and sat lightly in it. "Books could be romantic," she interjected, again against her better judgment. "You just have to get the right book. You know, my family has a few well placed connections. I bet I could get you a first edition of her favorite book, or something like that. It could be to repay you for helping me with all of these." She gestured to the towering stack of books on the table which she cared nothing about.

Leo was surprised. "Wow... you'd really help me with that?" he said. He couldn't believe how wrong he'd been about her. He never would have thought that Bellatrix would be so willing to help out someone that she barely even knew. "That would really be great. I'd have to see if I can figure out which book is her favorite, though. I don't remember her mentioning anything specific."

"Of course I would. It wouldn't be any trouble at all." She gave him a warm smile, secretly pleased that he didn't know Rori's favorite book off the top of his head. Bellatrix thought their relationship was just a little too nice for their age. This lack of knowledge on Leo's part showed they weren't quite as in tune as she had initially thought. That meant there were weaknesses that she could pick at. After all, if your boyfriend doesn't know what your favorite things are then you're not telling him enough. "Just let me know when you find out. And we'll keep this between me and you," she said with a wink. "I wouldn't want to steal any of your thunder."

Leo grinned. “Great. Thanks, really… you don’t have to do this, but I really appreciate it. I’ll see if I can do a little fact-finding and figure out what she likes.” He felt like he needed to offer her something in return, so he added, “Do you need any help with these books or anything? Like, carrying them somewhere?”
