Alyx felt suckerpunched. She had just entered the hall and was leaning against the back wall because it looked as if Dumbledore was about to make a speech and she didn't want to cause a commotion finding a seat. She wasn't left long in waiting to find out what the black was for though her mind had conjured several reasons and when she did hear it her knees went a little weak. She didn't know Katie very well but they were housemates and Alyx had known her for a while, no wonder Gia had been crying, sweet Merlin this would devastate a lot of people in her house.
When Dumbledore continued talking about how it occurred in the forbidden forest Alyx nearly went white. You didn't give anything the name "Forbidden" otherwise you could be sure to find Alyx there, and she had been going out recently to see if she could befriend some wild creatures there, she had a way with animals, but she also had a knack for getting in over her head, which is what she would have done if whatever found Katie had found her.
Still, she had to go to the forbidden forest! It would mean sharing her secret...but she had to do it. Quietly she exited the room and thought who best to tell.

Tim's couldn't believe what he had just heard, Kat thought he was sweet. He couldnt believe his ears, which had begun to turn a very deep shade of red along with the rest of his face. "Tha....Thank you." The words barely escaping he turned his head to hide his embarrassment and he began to scan the crowd once more for any sign of Gwen or Thane. Seeing none his eyes stay plastered on the table, afraid to look back at Kat. "Looking for your siblings?" Kat asked, gazing out over the other tables. She didn't recall seeing Gwen or Xavier, but she could have sworn she saw Thane over at the Ravenclaw table. she spotted him again though, "There's Thane," Kat said, pointing him out. "Sitting with Regina Curry." |

Samantha hadn't even given a thought to the tournament until it was mentioned that it would still be going on, still she was solemn. She didn't know who the girl was, but to have someone cast that curse on her was horrible, she prayed that they didn't cast any others on the girl before whoever it was killed her.
She didn't say anything one of her classmates was dead what was she supposed to say?
She did suppose that it wasn't that unusual all things considered with the war, but still...death was always...surprising.

Charlotte had to resist rolling her eyes. She didn't know the girl who died and she didn't see why she should have mourned whoever it was, but because she had been a "callous b*tch" before now she supposed she would have to show some sort of modicum of respect....Yeah...she ddin't care that much. "So it was a death after all." she nodded but didn't say anything else.

Tim nodded at Kat as she spotted Thane. "Yes thats him! I didnt see him when I first came in." As Dumbledore stood and began to speak, Tim listened intently his eyes widening with every sentence. As Headmaster Dumbledore said a girl had been killed, Timothy without realizing it grabbed Kat's hand and held on tight. As Dumbledore finished Tim turned to Kat and realized he had grabbed her hand, dropping it suddenly he regained his deep red hue and looked away.
"S...Sorry I..." He paused trying to think of the least embarrassing way to explain his actions. "I was caught off guard, i'm sorry."

Kat hadn't realized Tim was holding her hand until he let go. She was shell shocked. A girl killed? A student? Kat shook her head a little. This was all too horrifying. Dumbledore had said that the murderer hadn't been caught. Did that mean he was still out there? Would he strike again?
Kat shivered at the thought, and before she could let Tim finish apologizing for taking her hand, she took his and squeezed it a bit.
"Sorry," Kat said, but she didn't let go. "It's scarry, isn't it?"

Maxi had slipped into the back of the Great Hall just in time to hear Professor Dumbledore's depressing announcement. She gasped, clasping her hand over her mouth as she heard of Katie's death. Katie was in her year, and though the two were not close, Maxi had still known her and had talked to her a bit throughout their past four years at school. She shook her head and whispered to herself, "This is horrible..."

Smiling as Kat squeezed his hand. "Don't worry Kat, i'll protect you.." Attempting to put on his bravest face it was a futile attempt as he was just as frightened as he imagined Kat was. "I'm sure Headmaster Dumbledore will handle everything though, he's one of the greatest wizards alive. Turning to face Kat he stopped dead in his tracks as his eyes met hers. "Kat...you have beautiful eyes...." Tim knew the statement sounded odd but it kind of just came out before he realized what he was saying.

Natasha's brow furrowed and a sincere look of contrition fell over her features, "Oh ...those poor parents." she uttered shaking her head, it was a tragedy.
Who the hell gave a damn? This is why we decorate the room black? Oh please, people died every day, this war was claiming more and more lives, and now a student was in the ground boo, hoo.

Devin was too busy checking out one of the girls at another table to really care who had died. He hadn't known her, or had he? Who knew, that would require remembering names and he couldn't put a face to the girl's name that had been announced. He looked over at his step-sister and inwardly chuckled at her little faux statement.

She wondered how long they were going to mourn before food would come, she hadn't eaten anything all day and even though she'd probably pop a cruton in her mouth and call it dinner, she wanted that damn cruton and then she wanted to leave. She had better things to do than sit there and cry.
It wasn't as if she was completely cold blooded, or that she was happy the girl had died, by any means, but she was practical, they were in the middle of a war, there would be casualties, besides life and death were really just beginning's and ends, and after one end there was always a new beginning, the world would repopulate itself hell the population was spilling over, no one mourns the loss forever because eventually those people die too, it was simple logic.

Yes, the matter was serious, but something about being with Tim made Kat forget all the bad things that were going on around her. Turning to face Kat he stopped dead in his tracks as his eyes met hers. "Kat...you have beautiful eyes...." Tim knew the statement sounded odd but it kind of just came out before he realized what he was saying. Kat bit her bottom lip and blushed, turning away for a moment with a smile on her face. He said she had beautiful eyes! She giggled and turned back to Tim, still smiling. "Thanks Tim," she said quietly. "Yours are pretty amazing too," she said. Tim's eyes had a sort of deepness to them that Kat couldn't quite figure out. But she really didn't mind staring at them. |

Marlene still felt horrible. The way poor Gia had run out like that... and seeing the faces of some of the students... it was just such a tragedy. One day, the girl's name would be forgotten to all but those who really knew her. Gia wouldn't forget, but all the students who seemed sad now... what would they remember of Katie, years from now? They hadn't noticed her in life, why would they remember her in death?
Marlene couldn't help but think it was a terrible way to go--alone, unknown and forgotten. Katie had been a child, and her death was ultimately little more than a statistic. Even if they caught the bastard... it would do nothing to help Gia, or Katie.
"I can't sit here anymore," she whispered to Frank, Alice, and Kingsley. "I'm not hungry... I think I want to go find Gia. She shouldn't be alone right now."
She got to her feet and walked out of the room calmly.

"Merlin that's awful." Eve said quietly staring somberly at the Gryffindor table, "Poor Katie.." she muttered. Her hand unconsciously reached for Josh's and Lance's while her eyes connected to Genevieve's and moved between the three of them. It was so awful that a student had been...murdered. Merlin that meant as well that there was a Murderer near the campus and suddenly chills ran down her spine. She was so estatic that her friends were alive...so terribly sad that someone was dead, and now so incredibly worried that one of them could be next.

The food appeared on the tables, but Kat was suddenly not very hungry after everything that just happened. She pushed her plate away. "I'm not very hungry anymore..." she said. "How about you?" Kat turned back to Tim.

Tim stared down at the food for a minute and realized he wasn't in the least bit hungry at the moment. "No...not really anymore." Turning to look at Kat the tragedy of the moment had taken his mind off of how terrified he was of speaking to Kat. "Maybe..um..maybe you would prefer to take a walk? We could, um maybe talk about stuff?" His feet began to kick the floor nervously and his hands grasped the table with all the might he could muster.

"Yea..." she said. "Yea, let's walk," She pushed her plate away a bit more and stood up. She began to walk away when she turned and noticed that Tim was still sitting at the table. "Comming?" She asked, smiling at him.

Unable to believe his luck, Tim sat there stunned for a few moments. When Kat asked if he was coming he nodded vigorously and jumped up from the table walking over to her. Grabbing her hand he smiled back at the beautiful hufflepuff. "I'll......hold." Pausing for a moment he had to decide on the right words so as not to upset this delicate creature. "I'll hold your hand, in case you know....you get scared or something." His face started turning a light red once more, standing there trying not to look nervous he looked into her eyes. "So where too?"

"I'm sorry Seth," she said as she was squeezed by her Slytherin friend. "I completely forgot about dinner..." Maxi didn't really mind being this colse to Seth, but it seemed he wasn't letting go anytime soon. "Seth, need oxygen," she said with a smile.
