Arthur caught up with Molly at the door to Ted's apartment. But he was too late, of course. Molly had already begun to yell at Ted. As he watched, he saw her slap him hard across the face. Oh, Merlin, this was not going to be good.
He stood there, uncertain of what to do. He wanted to help Ted, but he also didn't want to drive Molly further away. Especially because he knew that Molly was quite justified in what she was doing.
The only thing he wished, for Ted's sake, was that the one person who truly Ted truly deserved to hear from, the one who deserved a chance to slap him, had so far stayed away. Where was Andromeda?

Ted clenched his jaw when she slapped him, and his eyes hardened almost instantly.
Enough. Enough of this bull sh*t. He understood that Andi had a lot of people that loved her and wanted to stand up for her, but this was getting out of control. If no one believed that damned Skeeter, why were they still angry at him for the article?
"Get out of my apartment," he said, his voice low and deadly.

Molly had no such intentions of leaving. No, he was going to get a serious piece of her mind, and he needed it from the looks of it.
In fact, she was angry when he told her to get out.
"I will not!" She said, and on impulse, she moved to slap him again.

Ted caught her wrist before she could hit him again, and his eyes flashed to Arthur, whom Molly had appearantly not noticed yet.
He walked her a few steps backwards, forcing her out of his apartment. He wasn't inviting his enemies inside anymore.
"Leave," he said. "You're angry. She's hurting, you want revenge. You know what, Molly? You can get in line. Until then, get the hell out of my home."

Arthur watched with horror, and as Ted's eyes connected with his, he hurriedly stepped forward, shoving himself between Molly and Ted. "Molly... I know you're angry," he said. "But this isn't the answer, OK? Maybe you should go before one of you does something you'll regret later."

Molly was outraged, and Arthur stopping her didn't help.
"I won't regret anything I did to him," she said, her temper flaring. How dare Ted manhandle her like that! Nevermind the fact she had hit him, almost twice. He was the wrong doer here.
"Did you treat Andi like this?" She pushed, though she didn't move around Arthur, not yet. "Is rough handling your style?" She continued. "I don't know why she's so upset. She should be glad she doesn't have to deal with you anymore. You stay away from Andi," she said, her small hands balled into fists.

Ted growled, a low sound in the back of his throat. "I never touched Andi, and I didn't hurt you. But go ahead and tell her I did."
She believed he had willing kissed Rita... but then, she had seen that. Of course she believed it.
He looked at Arthur while Molly was so angry she was practically spitting flames at him. "Get her out of here, Arthur, or I will do something I regret."

Arthur nodded quickly. "Come on, Molly," he said pleadingly. "He's right... Andromeda's not going to appreciate you fighting her battles for her. This isn't helping, OK? Please... I don't want this to get out of hand."

"You hurt her!" Molly said, some of her anger dissipating into pure dissappointment and sadness. "How do you expect me not to fight for her? She loves you so much!"
She bit her tongue to keep from saying anything about Rabastan, and her hands fisted one more time.
Finally, letting him win, her shoulders dropped and she turned to go.

Arthur sighed and gave Ted an apologetic look. Privately, he still felt that Ted had handled the situation with Andromeda wrong, but he also knew that, in the heat of the moment, it was easy to make the wrong decisions. Ted was now forced to live with those consequences, and unfortunately, so was Andi. Arthur still hoped that the relationship could somehow be prepared, but at the moment, it was looking highly doubtful.
Then he shrugged and followed after Molly. "Molly, wait. Please."

"Leave me alone, Arthur," she called over her shoulder, though she didn't turn to look at him. She was still steaming, but there was obviously no talking to Ted right now, and it bothered her. What right did he have to look like hell?
"And don't you dare defend him to me," she added. She was at the door to the stairwell now, and she finally turned to look at him. "I'm going home. Please don't follow me."

"But.... Molly..." Arthur called after her. He wanted to follow her, to tell her... what? He'd already told her how much he liked her. And he hadn't known her long enough to say that he was in love with her. As he thought those words, however, he realized that they were true. He had fallen in love with her the very first time he'd seen her; the moment their eyes had connected. Unfortunately, that had also been the moment that he'd spilled butterbeer all over her...
He slumped over, feeling defeated. He had been his first real chance at love... and he'd blown it.
No... that wasn't right. He hadn't ruined it, Ted had. He turned around and headed back to Ted's apartment. Ted had already shut his door, but Arthur threw it open anyway.
"Thanks a lot, Ted. Really. Now Molly refuses to speak to me, and I wasn't doing anything but trying to be a friend. So, great... now we're both miserable losers!"

Ted looked up, still seething about Molly's audacity, when Arthur stormed back in.
Wait... "What?" He asked. "Why in the world is Molly refusing to speak to you?" It clicked that it had to be some kind of girl code of friendship, and he groaned.
"Guilty by association. I'm sorry, Arthur, I didn't even think..." He trailed off. There was a lot he hadn't thought about concerning the ramifications of this.

Arthur sighed and flopped down on the couch next to Ted. "Yeah, well... it's partially my fault. This whole incident with Molly was partially my fault. I asked how Andromeda was doing and I accidentally let it slip that you wanted to know." He decided not to mention Molly's answer to that question, mainly because he didn't believe it. If Andi really was OK, Molly would never have been so angry as to come over and yell at Ted the way she had.
"Anyway, she thinks that just because I'm friends with you, I must be capable of doing what you did. Don't you see how dangerous it is to go around letting people believe you're a bastard who'd take advantage of a girl, then cheat on her? People are going to hate you, and now me, just because I'm your friend."

Ted sighed. "I'm not a bastard who would take advantage of a girl," he replied, and he was still angry because of Molly. "I'm sorry."
He paused, running a hand through his hair before he looked up. "No, no I'm not. That's stupid. She's stupid, Arthur. Why on earth does she automatically assume you'd do this anyway? Besides, she should know that I wouldn't have done this, not to this level..." he trailed off, angry, and made one final statement. "You could do better than her."
He didn't mean any of it, but he somehow wanted to be the man he was being punished for.

Arthur sighed. He couldn't very well say that he was in love with Molly. He had never even actually gone out with her. All he knew that that he was crazy about her, and he felt truly depressed that she was gone. "But... now I'll never know what could have been," he said quietly. "For all I know, we could have wound up married with 7 kids or something! I just... I really liked her. I mean, I spilled butterbeer on her and made a right arse of myself when I first met her, and she still stuck around to talk to me. She has to know I wouldn't do something like that... but still, I defended you. Sort of. I guess that's enough to make me guilty. I just wish you'd tried to be a little calmer with her. I'm sure more of Andi's relatives are going to be coming over and giving you a hard time, so you'd better get used to it."

Ted growled, frustrated. "I've dealt with Andi, Alice, Sirius, Narcissa, Druella, you, Vincent, and Angelique, and then finally Molly. If Molly had come sooner, I might have invited her in and offered her tea, Arthur. She doesn't know what she's talking about, and she came in here attacking me. You can't ask me to be kind to that. I'm done with it. It's none of their business. And if she can't look past me to see you, then that's her loss, Arthur."

Arthur's eyes grew wide. "You saw Druella? As in, Druella Black? And you're still alive?" He shook his head in disbelief. "I met the woman once... I was on assignment from the Ministry... That woman.... Is the scariest person I've ever met. If not for all of the witnesses who swear Lord Voldemort was a man, I would swear SHE was him." He continued to stare at Ted. "I take it all back. After dealing with her, I don't blame you in the slightest for biting Molly's head off. What did she say to you?"

Ted sighed and leaned back. He wished he had some heroic story about surviving the woman. But no, the worst she had said to him was that he probably couldn't make a proper cup of tea.
"She said thank you," he whispered, miserably.

"Thank you?" Arthur repeated blankly. "For what? For breaking up with Andi?" He frowned as he looked at Ted. "Look, Ted... I just want you to think about something, OK? In breaking up with Andi like this, you realize you're sending her back to that woman; back to a life she told you she wasn't happy with. Are you sure you're doing the right thing? If those people get their hands on her again, especially now that she's angry and hurt... they're going to twist her, and change her. In time, she won't be the same girl you loved. This is what they do to people. Do you really want that for Andromeda?"
