Alone in the Dark (Eve/Josh)

[Eve Mallory]

She rolled her eyes and shoved him playfully , he was teasing her, he didn't really want to kiss her, and if he did want to kiss her...Merlin she was terrified she had never kissed a boy before, but she smiled as she thought it would be lovely for Josh to have her first kiss, her first real kiss.

"We should come up here more often."

Josh kissed her cheek, a little closer to her lips than he normally did. It would be sufficient enough until he actually did kiss her. The whole thing was killing him really, but he would try to hold off for right now.

"That would should. We should do it at least twice a week don't you think? I think that we would have fun and of course if you want to do it more than twice a week, I don't mind you coming and knocking at my door."

Eve felt his kiss shivering down her spine she sighed and subtly her body reacted on it's own leaning into him, not letting him pull back as quickly as he might have. She blinked back to reality and bit her lip. Things were getting so complicated she was so confused. "...I'm glad you picked me." she told him, " for the Dance...I'm glad you picked me." she was suddenly very glad, that night she was determined she would be dazzling, she was going to make Josh look at her, and she would kiss him she decided. She would kiss the ever loving daylights out of him.

"I'm glad too. I'm glad that you said yes. I remember telling Lance that I wouldn't even go to the dance if you didn't say yes." He gave her a grin. "I wouldn't have dreamed of taking anyone else. I want you to know that." The dance could not come fast enough. He was wanting to tell her so bad, but he was going to hold off until the dance. That would be the perfect moment.

"I'm sure that the night will be the best night ever."

"It will be the best night ever." she repeated "We should practice." she said as if struck by inspiration, "For the dance...we could practice dancing that is...show your brother something new." she laughed, she knew that Lance was the dancer, and he was very good at it whereas Josh didn't move badly at all but lacked Lance's grace unless he was dancing with Eve...then things just fit.

Josh laughed. "Alright, we shall dance. No music is really needed." He stood up and brought her with him. Josh gave her a slight bow. He took her hand and then put on her waist. When he danced with Eve, he could be pretty decent. It wasn't that he was horrible at dancing, it was just that he wasn't the best like Lance. Although, Josh didn't really complain about it, because he and Lance had different traits that they were great at.

He started to move with Eve. Josh was already enjoying himself.

They were dancing propperly for a school dance the propper width apart and everything, they had done this jokingly as kids, but she wasn't joking anymore, her face turned upwards after she guided his hands to her waist and took his hand in hers and she smiled, he could see the stars in her eyes but she only had eyes for the boy in front of her as they started to move.

Everything felt right as they were dancing. He moved around with ease as he looked at Eve. His eyes where locked on hers and not anywhere else. A few moments of spinning around, Josh pulled Eve a little closer but his hands still remained in the same place.

A smile crossed his face and moved with a little bit of grace as they went across the floor. He preferred Eve being slightly closer to him than what she was originally. It seemed the closer she was, the better he could dance.

Eve was a dancer, she liked ballet in particularly, but her mother had taught her all the ball dances and she was pretty good with them, but when she danced with Josh everything else faded away. She would have to admit that she danced better with Lance, only because Lance was just as graceful as she was when they were on the floor, they moved like the perfect couple, the main difference however, was that when she danced with Josh, they moved like they were one being. Their souls connected and everything that they couldn't bring themselves to say was clear on their faces and in their hearts when they danced. She stepped even closer, and closer still until she was pressed against him with her arms around his neck. She didn't need words, really words would only bring reality back to the moment. She didn't know what was going on between them, but she would have to find out soon before it killed her.

Eve was killing him and she didn't even know it. When she stepped closer, the hand that held hers put that one around his neck and he placed his hand on the other side of her waist. Josh didn't mind her body pressed against his. It warmed him. Maybe there was the possiblity of Eve caring about him in the same way he did her. Although, he wasn't going to find out just yet because maybe this was just a one time thing.

Josh was going to make sure that this was not a one time thing. He enjoyed times like these, because it seemed like he could say things needed with expression and with out verbalizing it. His eyes of course told Eve that he really cared about her, but he was sure she probably wouldn't catch on. The longer he danced, the more grace he slowly started to pick up.

Her heart was thudding wildly in her chest and she wondered briefly if he could feel it. She was standing close enough now that she could feel his breath warm on her cheeks, it was such a perfect moment, if only she wasn't such a coward. Genevieve would have been all over him by now, well maybe not, but she would be picking up if these were signals or not, and she...if she felt the way that Eve did, which Eve was praying Genevieve did not, then she would be taking more of an active role, but Eve was the coward and she played the cowards game by breaking their eyecontact and resting her head against his chest instead. She chose intimacy that didn't require romantic feelings, they could have this...strange sort of platonic intimacy...couldn't they?

Josh was slightly disappointed in Eve's looking away. He wanted to tell her everything without doing anything but looking at her. Since she looked away, he couldn't do that. Although, he knew that once she put her head on his chest, she could hear his heart pounding.

He wanted to whisper things in her ear to make her blush, but he decided against it. Right now no words where needed. Josh tilted his head down so that his cheek was resting against her head.

It was still quite an intimate moment even if they both wanted it to go farther, Eve was almost afraid of it doing that. She loved him so much as a friend...there would be complications if they tried for more.

For now however she was content to sway with him hearing his heart...his heart was beating so fast like hers and she had to wonder she had to ask, "Are you alright...your heart's beating...so fast.."

Josh's ears turned bright red. Luckily, Eve wouldn't really get to see how bright they were. "Y-yeah. I'm alright." He was surprised that she asked, but nevertheless he tried to mentally tell his heart to stop pounding like that, but it didn't work.

"I think maybe it's because I'm excited about dancing with you." That was a safe comment, wasn't it?

She laughed, "You dance with me all the time...or well hmm." the last time they danced it hadn't been like this and suddenly as if she understood, and she knew her own heart was beating fast she decided not to question it, " Yes...but this is...this is different I know." she wasn't going to say what she knew or how she knew it, but she was only going to accept that it was and wrap her arms around him more securely putting more of her insignificant weight on him.

"It's a good different though," he stated honestly. Josh moved his hands across her back to her lower back and continued to dance with her. If he could, he would freeze time and leave them like this. He couldn't ask for any better moment and he looked forward to future moments like this.

He loved moving as one with her because it was like they were together. Dancing with people was a good way to tell your feelings, and Josh was doing just that, although he still wasn't sure if Eve was picking it up. He would have to talk to Lance about what happened tonight.

Eve would have to talk to Viv...or well, that wasn't really Eve's style she was quiet, shy even, but she didn't understand tonight, not one bit, they'd be going to get their dresses soon and perhaps Eve could talk to Viv then. Still she wouldn't think about that now, she'd think about that later, when Josh's arms weren't around her.

Josh knew that it was getting later and they had classes tomorrow. He didn't want the dancing to end, but he knew that if they wanted to have at least some coherent thoughts tomorrow, then they might as well try and get some sleep.

"I hate to say this, but we should try and get some sleep. We've got classes. You can still stay in my room tonight. I'll give you a piggy back ride, or I could just carry you."

She knew he was right and sighed, "Very well then." it was a lovely dance, a lovely night, and she wasn't going to let it be awkward now, she smiled up at him, "Since you're offering." she shugged and waited for him to pick her up, she knew she didn't weigh much so that shouldn'tve bothered him.
