Andi gave her sister another hug. She felt a little bad for Narcissa, who was forever caught in between Bella and herself. Both of them had been strong personalities, complete polar opposites. And then there was poor Cissa, often forced to choose sides. Narcissa had never been as strong or opinionated as Bella and Andi had been, and was usually stuck trying to tread the middle ground, while keeping her older sisters from killing each other. Andi couldn't help but feel guilty about the position Cissa had always been in.
Andi also knew, better than Cissa did, that her little sister was often prone to siding with whichever sister she was talking to at that moment. Bella, in particular, took great advantage of this, by twisting, manipulating, and almost bullying Narcissa into agreeing with her. Andi always tried not to make up Narcissa's mind for her, but to guide her as best as she could.
Narcissa said she would always be there for Andi. And even though she knew Narcissa meant it at that moment, she also knew that, if Bella was around, that would probably change. Bella was always better at controlling Cissa.
Still, Andi could see now that Narcissa had her own mind about things, and she didn't necessarily agree with everything Bella said. And knowing she had Cissa's support was a load off of her mind.
"I feel the same about you, Cissy," she replied warmly. "I support you completely, and I'm sure you and Lucius will be very happy together. Plus, the two of you will make beautiful children!" She added with a laugh.

Narcissa would always be there for Andi, no matter what. She didn't really care what Bella said or did. Cissa would do whatever she could to help Andi. Her mind was already made up and there was no changing it.
She laughed with Andi. "I hope so," she replied. "I'm sure that you and Ted will have beautiful children too! I know, I know, you haven't even began to talk about marriage or anything like that, but still. I can see something there Andi. Don't let go. He makes you happy, so hang on tight!" Cissa smiled at her eldest sister and squeezed her hands.
"Just to let you know. I know that Bella may try to make me say things towards you, but you know I don't mean them, right? I try my best to say the least possible, and the least hurtful while I try to keep her satisfied. Andi. I'm sorry for everything. I should stand up. I know I should, but I can't. At least not yet."

It occurred to Andromeda that both she and Bella had probably underestimated Narcissa. Just because she wasn't as loud or opinionated as her older sisters, that didn't mean that Cissa wasn't capable of making up her own mind and sticking to it. Maybe the famous Black stubbornness held true for Narcissa just as much as for Bella and Andi. The only flaw Narcissa really had was that she wasn't quite strong enough to stand up for her feelings or opinions when she was tested. But Andi couldn't quite blame her sister for that. Bella was certainly a force to be reckoned with. Even Andi was a little intimidated by her.
"Thank you, Cissa," Andi replied happily. "I know it's hard to speak up to Bella when she has an idea in her head. I've had a lot of practice at it. But just knowing that you're on my side helps a lot. Really."

Narcissa put her arms around Andi and hugged her. "Of course I'm on your side. Family means the world to me, no matter what happens. I don't care if you were on trial for killing someone, I would still be there for you. Family is far more important, and obviously mum, dad, and Bella want us all to have the same mind set. I have to go along with it because I'm the youngest and if I spoke against them or anything, I'd be out in the streets, and everything I've worked for would be gone."
She smiled. "I'm not as stupid as I can let on to be, of course I'm sure you know that." Cissa quickly winked. "I'm going to help you as much as I can. I would rather see you happy with a non-pureblood rather than see you with a pureblood and be unhappy."

"I have never thought you were stupid," Andi said firmly, squeezing Narcissa's shoulder. "You're just quieter than Bella and I always were... and there's nothing wrong with that. It must have been so frustrating for you to see us, always at each others' throats. And if we even let you get caught in the crossfire, I'm sorry about that. Bella and I never did get along, and now it seems like we never will." She gave a sigh of sad resignation as she thought of Bella. It truly seemed as though the two of them were going to take very different paths. "I love Bella, too... you know that. But I don't think our relationship can be saved. I'm so glad I at least have you."

"In a way, it is a good thing that I have been caught in the middle. Neither one of you hexed the other, or worse. And don't worry about Bella, Andi. She's always going to be on her own no matter what. You two are so alike, yet complete opposites. I've tried to understand her, but I can't really grasp it, while you on the other hand are a little easier to understand."
Narcissa gave her a smile. "And sometimes I wonder if Bella is a little bit loopy." As much as Cissa loved her sister, Bella seemed to get a high when it came to going after and destroying people's lives. The look in her eye seemed to make her think there was something wrong, but then again she could have just been over analyzing it.

Andi let out a little giggle at Narcissa's comment. She'd often worried about Bella for the same reasons that Narcissa mentioned. It wasn't that she thought her sister was crazy, but she was a trifle... obsessive. It was troubling to say the least.
"Well, thanks, Cissa. And listen, if she ever does anything that you think is out of control and you're worried about yourself, please, don't hesitate to let me know. I'll be there for you, I promise."

"Of course!" Narcissa was grateful that she had her own mind about a few things and didn't fully agree with her parents. She could keep some kind of tie between her and Andi, which was the best thing for her. Without Andi, Narcissa could have been just like Bella, and she wasn't so sure that she wanted to be like that, no offense to Bella.
"If you need something at anytime, let me know. I'll do anything I can for you, you know that."

Andi smiled. For the first time in a long time, she finally felt like Cissa would be OK. She had a good head on her shoulders, and although she would forever be walking a line, Andi now knew that her sister could handle it.
"I will. And we'll keep in touch as much as possible, OK? I don't want to get you in trouble with Bella, or even with Lucius, but I promise, we'll keep in touch somehow."

"Alright! I'm not worried about getting in trouble with them though," replied Narcissa. "They're both gone frequently, or they're busy. Besides, I have my ways of sneaking around, don't worry." She flashed her sister a smile.
"I'm going to hold you to that promise, and myself as well. You take care of yourself Andi. Maybe we can meet once a week? I don't think that will be to obvious, because no one really cares where I disappear to in my house."

"I'd like that," Andi said. "I'm sure it will be easy to keep seeing each other while I'm teaching here and you're a student, anyway. You can tell me all about your wedding plans, and I'll tell you how things are going with Ted!" She laughed and took both of Narcissa's hands in hers. "I'm so glad we had this talk... I felt so hopeless the other night. I'm not sure what I would have done if Ted hadn't been with me. I should have known that things wouldn't change between us!"

"Of course they wouldn't have Andi! Like I've said before you could have murdered someone and nothing would change!" Narcissa squeezed Andi's hands. "Ted sounds like a wonderful person! I hope to meet him sometime in different circumstances than the other night. Tell him I'm sorry for everything that was said, will you?"
She pulled her into a hug. "I can't wait until next week," she said with a squeal of joy.

Andi hugged her back. She felt unbelievably light, as if all of the trauma from the other night had never happened. How silly she'd been to be so worried! Everything would be all right now, she was sure of it.
"I'll tell him," she said when she pulled away. "And I'll try to figure out a way you can meet him for real, so that Bella doesn't find out. He really is wonderful, Cissa... the guy I've been dreaming about all of my life!"
She hated to break up their talk, but it was getting close to her class time. She certainly didn't want to be late for her own class. "I'll have to be going soon, but I'll send you an owl next week sometime, so we can meet to talk. I won't sign it, so that if someone finds it, they won't know it's from me, OK?"

"OK," replied Narcissa. "I've got to be going too. I've got a class to be going to in a few minutes! Plus, we wouldn't want you late for yours either!"
She gave her sister another quick hug. "I'll see you sometime soon Andi. You take care! Don't work too hard." Cissa winked at her. She was relieved to have this talk with Andromeda. It felt as if a load was lifted off her shoulders. Now she was certain that she didn't want to follow in Bella's footsteps and become a deatheater. She would have to talk to Lucius soon. He would understand, hopefully.
Cissa looked over her shoulder as she headed towards the door. "Love you," she called as she started out the door.

Andi smiled and waved at her sister. "I love you, too, Cis," she said happily. It felt good to be able to say it. Their family hadn't always been such a loving family, and the words were not spoken very often. And while she wasn't sure she could say that she really loved her parents, who had both tormented her mercilessly for her different point of view, she loved her sisters. Both of them. And while it was unlikely that she would ever be able to salvage her relationship with Bella, at least she had Cissa. She vowed to herself never to fall out of touch with her youngest sister, as she had done in the year after her father threw her out.
After Narcissa had left, she waited a few minutes, so that no one would see them both leaving the room together. When she was sure the coast was clear, she left the room, feeling considerably lighter than she had when she entered it. As dark as things had seemed the other night, now it seemed like everything was looking up. Nothing could go wrong now...
