It had been a few days since the dinner at Le Repas Cher but Bellatrix was still thinking on the encounter with Andromeda and that muggleborn. It bothered her that her older sister had abandoned their family for a pathetic man with no magical background. She was throwing away her entire future and Bellatrix could not let that happen.
She wanted desperately to speak with Narcissa about this matter, but her reaction to it that night had shown that that would not be such a good idea. Poor Narcissa was still so upset by the whole thing, Bellatrix thought it best to discuss it with someone more like minded. So after her last lesson with Professor Rothschild she headed up to the sixth floor. She had some time before Rabastan's lesson ended, so she waited in the halls rethinking over what she wanted to discuss. It wasn't long before the corridor was filled with students and Bellatrix scanned the crowd for Rabastan.

Rabastan was somewhere in the middle of that crowd, his attention focused soley on a fifth year Slytherin girl, who was giving him an equal amount of attention, blushing and lowering her eyes and the like. Rabastan was eating it up, and didn't even notice Bellatrix.
(They'll get longer, I promise)

It was hard to find him amidst the chattering teenagers and by the time she spotted him he had already passed her. She groaned and pushed through the crowd to get to him. He was flirting with a girl, of course. "I need to speak with you." She was two steps behind him, her hand on his shoulder. She ignored the girl he was focusing on. Bellatrix was sure he could make up the time with her later. This was important.

Rabastan wasn't expecting to be interrupted, but he knew Bella, and more than that, he respected her.
Without hesitation or any arguing, he promised the girl that he would find her later, and he backed out of the crowd, instinctually leading Bellatrix to a quiet part of the hall.
"What can I do for you, Bella?"

"I'm worried about Andromeda," she blurted out without even a friendly greeting. "I need to make her see that she's making a huge mistake by abandoning the family. I know you'll help me, won't you?"
Of course, Rodolphus would try to help too. But Rabastan and Andromeda had a past, and for this sort of thing, she needed someone Andromeda would feel for. Rodolphus...well Andromeda never really cared for him too much. She thought he was too closed minded. She thought the same things of Bellatrix no doubt.

Rabastan smiled slowly. "I've been waiting for you to say that," he told her in a conspiritorial way. He knew he could count on Bella. His brother and Lucius weren't invested enough to care... to help maybe, but not to care too much. And Narcissa, Merlin love her, was too timid. That made him worry about Narcissa too, but not nearly as much. She had Lucius to keep her in line.
"Of course I'll help. In fact, I've been plotting ways to bring her back. Did you have something specific in mind?"

Bellatrix was glad Rabastan was understanding of her plea. She knew he would understand. And to know that he had been thinking the same thing - her heart felt lighter with this simple fact. "I don't have anything specific. I just need to show her how awful mudbloods are. And how great purebloods are. I was hoping you could assist in that last part." She eyed him, wondering if he would comply. It would mean possibly ceasing with flirtatious ways with the rest of the female studnt body for a while. Could he do that? Would he do it was a whole other question.

Rabastan's smile was practically dripping with delight. "I was hoping you would ask that. You know I love a good challange... and you know I could get her back in a heartbeat."
Cocky, but still convinced that it was true.
"But..." He eyed here. They were very similar, he realized, in their personalities. "That mudblood can do no wrong in her eyes... we're going to have to fix that."

"Yes, I was afraid of that. I was hoping to get them arguing over something or other, but I honestly don't believe he has it in him to stand up for anything. You wouldn't happen to have anything up those fascinating sleeves, would you?" She raised a single eyebrow at him. He had mentioned that he was thinking of something before she propositioned him.

Rabastan just shrugged. "I might have a thought or two... but it would require you to get your hands a little dirty," he told her, smiling still. "And we don't even have to give thm anything to argue about. She just needs to think he's betrayed her in some way. So, can you play matchmaker? Get someone to put him in a compromising situation?"

"That might take some thinking. But I'm sure I can do that." Who would she get to play such a roll? Certainly she wouldn't wish that fate on one of her friends. But to be able to convince a simple acquaintance or stranger? That would be hard. But she had to do this, for Andromeda's sake.

"Unless you have a better idea," Rabatan said. "But just consider it... she sees him with another woman... and I can get her to the right place... after what happened at the restaurant? She'll hate him, no questions asked." He held his arms out to the side. "And I'll be there to pick up the pieces."

She chuckled at his plan. "You are too smart for your age Rabastan. Honestly." He was very right. The mudblood's unfaithfulness would certainly shatter Andromeda. And Rabastan would put her together. And Bellatrix would have her sister back. She almost wanted to tell her father of their brilliance, but knew better than involve him yet. He'd probably try to talk her out of it, saying Andromeda was not worth it. A lost cause.

Her compliment made him smile. He liked Bella as a friend, a fellow death eater, and he thought his brother was a lucky man to be marrying her. If he was the kind to ever settle down, he might have been jealous.
"I try. You just tell me when and where, and we'll have her there. And, as a bonus, we'll get to see that infamous Black temper flair in your big sister."

"She's nothing compared to me. But she does put on a good show." Bellatrix was still laughing, having far too much fun in the plotting of her sister's unhappiness. But, she kept reminding herself. It was for her own good. "Let me do a little searching, and I'll send you an owl when I've figured my end out."
She looked up the hall and saw a professor heading in their direction. She wondered if she shouldn't cease this conversation before they were overheard. Would anyone even bother to listen?

Rabastan nodded, his eyes following hers and landing on the professor. He turned back to Bella and smiled.
"Truth be told, I kind of missed her, anyway," he said with a little laugh. "Well, Ms. Black," he said, in case they were to be overheard. He didn't need a professor taking away points for being informal with an assistant. "Pleasure doing business with you."

Bellatrix smirked at how Rabastan suddenly was being so proper, since the professor was walking nearer to them. But she didn't laugh aloud, it might have given them away. Merlin knew Slytherin needed to win house points, not loose them. If only she could award Rabastan fifty just for being so damned cunning.
"I'll be sending you word soon." She winked at him and strolled off down the corridor. He could get back to his little girlfriend now if he wished. Though she could bet he would be going down to mess with Andromeda, since she was teaching at the school now.

He'd appreciate it more if she could award him fifty points for being so dang desireable, but he would take his theoretical points whever he could get them.
His smile faded and he nodded. "I will be sad leave you," he told her, a sincere look on his face that most fell in love with. "But if I remember the schedule correctly, Andi's got a class in about fifteen minutes. I think I should sit in, and further my education. Do keep me posted on things," he said.

Rita had no business up on the sixth floor for anyone who knew better but that had never stopped her before. She had a nose for things and she'd been given a lead on a story that she could really sink her teeth into and she intended to find out more... straight from the source as she saw it. She'd seen Bellatrix headed up here earlier and had taken her time in following. She didn't want to have it be obvious she was following. But she did intend to talk to the woman.
As she rounded a corner she saw two people standing and half whispering though no one else was nearby. Rita drew herself up and strode purposefully over to the pair. Just the person she was looking for and that Rabastan was there with her the more the better. Both had been witnesses to the event and she was sure she could get them to talk for the right price and if not she could always twist words to suit her purposes. But involved parties always made the stories that much more juicy.
Rita spoke overly brightly as she got within voice distance "Bellatrix, my dear... and Rabastan!! Imagine meeting you two up here" she did her best impression of genuine surprise and friendliness that she had practiced so much it had become second nature to her.

Rita had come appeared in the opposite direction that she was walking and when she heard her name Bellatrix turned. "Yes, I'm sure..." She walked back to where Rita stood, which was near Rabastan. What on earth did she want? Rita, while always having been on good terms with Bellatrix, was rather obnoxious at times. She was so relentlessly curious about things. And it didn't help that she was interning at the Daily Prophet.
