The Twilight Apartments weren't far from Knockturn Alley and what with the weather being as nice as could be expected for nearing the end of October, Bellatrix walked with Dean to her flat. She knew, even without having spoken to him at all that week, Rodolphus would not be there to disturb them. Bellatrix was quite certain that he was out doing one of two things. Either he was on a mission for the Dark Lord, which secrecy would bind him from telling her, or he was out with other girls. The latter was probably the more accurate.
But as time went on she found herself less in love with Rodolphus than before. She found faults in the things she once loved about him. His arrogance for one thing. He was not nearly as powerful as he let on, not like Lord Voldemort. And he was always speaking down to her, as if she were nothing more than a silly child. Had she not been the one to meet with the Dark Lord first? And he acted as though it was a shock she had done something of note. There were men out there that did not act in such a way towards a beautiful, intelligent woman. Lord Voldemort, for instance. He had always treated Bellatrix with respect. But he was the one man Bellatrix could not muster the courage to seduce.
So now there was Dean. Dean, whom she had attended school with. And she knew, like most the other boys, Dean had harbored secret feelings for her. She couldn't blame him. A pureblood beauty such as herself, she would have wronged herself if she did not use her looks to achieve her goals. And now she was doing just that. There had been something in the way Dean spoke at The Rusty Nail, Bella knew she had to have him. But what she couldn't understand was how he had changed so much in such a short period of time.
"So Dean," she said casually, "you mentioned hunting before... Care to elaborate on that?"

Dean just flashed her a grin. "Oh, you know, hunting. Like, big game. Stags, wolves, and I'm working up to a bear. We mostly just rely on strength and fighting techniques to take them down. It would be too easy to use magic, you know." He didn't want to go into too much more detail, since, of course, most of his hunting had been down while in werewolf form. And he wasn't about to tell her that.
"How about you, Bella?" he said, changing the subject. "What have you been up to since school? Still seeing Rodolphus?"

They walked along as the night's sky grew darker. A few stars twinkled high above them, but went unnoticed by Bellatrix who was refraining herself from making a snotty comment about Dean hunting without magic. "I heard that there's a werewolf hunter who fights with bears," she commented. It was the only thing she could manage to say that wouldn't be rude. Bellatrix had been taught her entire life that magic was the only way to live, and even with Dean making quite a good argument for the opposite way of thinking, it was hard to stop something that was pushed upon you for eighteen years.
"I've found a new group of friends as well, though mine aren't nearly as dull as yours sound." She was using the word 'friends' very loosely as she was speaking about the Death Eaters. And at the moment she was fighting with most of them. "I'm assisting one of the professors at Hogwarts," she purposely didn't mention which professor. "Probably just for the year, maybe less though. I don't know how long I will be needed there."
"Oh, Rodolphus...yes. We're engaged actually. Mummy and daddy were so thrilled. They're planning this big elaborate to do. I really have nothing to do with it." She failed to mention Rodolphus' other women. And clearly she was in the market for other mates herself, so there was no need to go further into it.

Dean listened to her with great interest. "I might be interested in meeting with some of your friends sometime," he said with a meaningful look on his face. "I've been looking to get a new group of friends. I've learned a few good things from them, but really, we really have some very different ideas about how things should be, if you know what I mean."
The idea of Bellatrix Black working as a teaching assistant was possibly one of the strangest things he'd ever heard. He had always had the impression that Bella hated Hogwarts and pretty much everything associated with it. He couldn't imagine that there was any professor there that she would willingly work with as an assistant. "Teaching assistant? You? I'm sorry, Bella, I just can't picture it. Did you lose a bet or something?"

"Let's just see how well you do with me before I introduce you to my new little group," she teased him. He was always so easy to tease. Bella giggled lightly.
"I don't bet. Gambling is for drunkards and bums. And I have very important work at the school, Hallowell. I wouldn't expect someone like you to understand." She smirked at him, and then looked up at the stars as they walked. "But then again, if you can prove yourself worthy, I may just let you in on a few little secrets of mine." She gave him a wink and giggled again.

Dean raised an eyebrow at her. "I think the reason you don't bet is because you don't like to lose," he teased. "Not that I blame you. I've lost a few too many bets in my time, and I've sworn it off myself. The reward just isn't worth the risk. I prefer fighting, because the stakes are higher. Anyway, whatever the important work you're doing there, I hope it has nothing to do with the actual teaching. I'd hate to think that you were doing something so far beneath you without an ulterior motive."

"Trust me," she said, looking back from the sky to Dean. "I wouldn't be there if I wasn't really needed. And you know I couldn't care less about the little twerps themselves." The apartment building grew in the distance as they walked, until they were upon the front stoop. Pulling her wand from her pocket she waved it at the lock on the main door, which flung itself open. Bellatrix led the way into the common corridor and began climbing the stairs. "Where are you living these days, Hallowell?" She was almost certain he could not be living in as nice a building as she. Her parents paid good money for this apartment, and last she had heard Dean's remaining family wasn't keen on spending money on him.

Dean followed her into the apartment, barely able to conceal his awe. He knew Bella's family was rich, but even still, he was amazed at the swanky decor. It was nicer than anything he'd ever be able to afford. "Me? Oh... no place special. Those friends of mine have a rundown old house on the outskirts of Hogsmeade. It's not much, but it's a place to crash. For now, anyway. Do you live here with Lestrange, or are you on your own here?"

"Rodolphus? Merlin no. 'It's not proper to live together before marriage,'" she said in a voice to mock her fiance. It wasn't as though she cared really. She liked having her own place. She could be alone when she needed to be. Although she did wish her parents would have agreed to give her their old house elf, but they said they were saving that privilege as part of Narcissa's dowry. 'And besides,' her mother had said, 'Rodolphus could obtain one once you two marry.'
Bellatrix reached the second floor and headed to the bedroom. Once inside it was clear Bella had spent loads of galleons on decorating her favorite room. There were deep blue curtains that hung all the way to the floor. The bedspread on the large mahagony poster bed matched perfectly with the curtains, and had accent pillows that nearly covered the headboard. A tall mirror hung on the wall over the long dresser, which was covered with silver picture frames with Bella's image sitting in them. There was a blue striped arm chair in the corner, where Bella had thrown a maroon cloak the day before. And at the foot of the bed was a long bench with a black cushion.

"Ah, OK," Dean said with a hint of a grin. He'd never really thought of Bellatrix as the type who would care about being "proper." But then, he supposed that a woman from a family as prestigious as hers had to maintain a certain level of propriety to avoid shocking the society matrons.
As they entered the bedroom, Dean let out a low whistle. Of course the place was impeccably decorated. Clearly Bella had spared no expense. He was pretty sure that the decor cost 3 times more than the total amount of money he'd ever had in his life. But he thought it wise not to mention that. Bella was known for her snobbery, and such comparisons would certainly turn her off. Still, he felt distinctly out of place in here. He just hoped she didn't notice how much at odds his rough exterior was with her bedroom's interior.
"It's not bad," he said casually. "Just the sort of place I'd have expected you to live in."

'Yes, well..." She unhooked the clasp on her cloak then tossed it onto the chair with the other cloak. It was the only part of her room that wasn't kept in perfect order. In fact, Dean was lucky to be visiting on a day where there was only a cloak on the chair. Usually her under garments and shopping bags overflow onto the floor in that particular corner.
She turned and sat on the bench at the end of the bed, crossing her right leg over her left and leaning back onto her palms. Without her cloak, her figure was clearly visible in her form fitting robes. She wore a silver necklace with a snake and rose charm, the one her master had given her upon recieving her first mission, which hung just above her breasts. "So..." One eyebrow raised as she smiled seductively.

Dean was trying to be slick, but seeing her sitting there like that, practically inviting him over, was difficult to resist. He looked at her legs, so shapely and smooth, and then his eyes caught a bright sparkle near her throat. He raised his eyes up and stared at the necklace that hung there... and then his eyes traveled lower.
He felt like he was about ready to pounce at any second... but two things held him back. The first was Bella herself. While her pose was certainly inviting, he also knew her well enough to know that if he appeared too eager, it would turn her off. He needed to be subtle.
The other reason was more embarrassing. The truth was, he'd never done this before. Oh, sure, he'd wanted to, plenty of times. But he'd never had much luck with girls.
He took a breath and grinned, hoping he looked cocky and sure of himself. "OK," he said, taking off his shirt. "Do you want me to show you some moves?"

Her eyes wandered over his bare chest once he removed his shirt. Bellatrix had only seen Dean shirtless when they had been in school and gone swimming in the Black Lake. At the time he had been thin and rather undefined, though not scrawny like Severus. But now it seemed hunting agreed with him. His chest was more muscular, his arms firm. He looked as though he could put up a good fight. "Certainly." She wondered what sort of moves he would be performing...

Dean flexed his muscles a couple of times, then began boxing with an invisible opponent. He felt a little stupid, really, but he felt like he had to stall for time. And hopefully, the adrenaline would begin to flow through him, giving him the courage to make his real move. "The key in a fist fight is to go for the vulnerable areas. And a lot of times, the best thing to do is distract them with hand movements that will most likely be blocked... so that you can instead attack with you legs or knees..." He demonstrated by kicking his knee upward.

Bellatrix uncrossed her legs and stretched them out in front of her. Keeping her gaze locked on him she asked, "and where might those vulnerable areas be?" She gestured with a quick nod of her head for him to use her body to describe where he would focus the attacks. With a wand, all areas of the body would be vulnerable, depending on what spell you used. And Bellatrix was learning quite a few effective ones as of late. But she knew not to discuss them now.

"Hmmm..." Dean said, beginning to get flustered. "Well, really, if you do it right, almost all areas can be vulnerable. Ummm... you could stamp down on their feet, or kick them in the shin or knee cap.... the stomach or the side is always good.... and of course, if it's guy... uhhh... well, you know..."
This was stupid. He was getting flustered and embarassed, and he was sure it was just turning her off. Maybe it would be better to just go for it. "Ah, the hell with it," he said. He walked over to the bed, where she was sitting, and stood just in front of her. "Maybe we should just cut to the chase...." He sat down next to her and put his hand on her thigh.

Finally, she thought as his hand cupped her thigh. She hadn't really expected the charade to go on so long. Did he not know her invitation back to her flat was really an invitation back to her bed? She was beginning to think this was his first time. But then again, Dean had always seemed a bit slow at times.
She leaned forward and pressed her lips against his, tasting his drink and a hint of sweat. He had certainly gotten worked up showing off his silly little fighting moves. But Bellatrix didn't care. She let her hands caress his shoulders and his back as she leaned in closer to him.

Dean closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around her waist as she kissed him. Although he lacked in experience, he caught on quickly by following her lead. Right from the beginning, he was close to losing control. But he reminded himself of the need for restraint, and he held himself back in order to prolong the experience. He allowed his hands to slide across her back slowly.

The slight pressure on her back was strangely arousing. A moan escaped her lips and her head tilted back slightly as the sensation of his touch washed over her. Her breathing was held in her chest, which made her breasts heave, aching to escape from her confining robes. She made a trail of kisses leading from his ear to his bare chest.

Dean let out a low groan and pulled her closer to him, allowing his body to mold to hers. It took every bit of strength he had to hold back slightly as his fingers slowly began to work the buttons on her robe. It was interesting, in all the time he'd known Bella from school he'd thought of her as very cold and unfeeling. But there was nothing cold about her now.
