((OOC: LOL Having a hard time keeping track of who's who?))
Bridget was shocked at how quickly he left. He seemed rather excited to cook for her. She could get used to such treatment. While he was away she moved about the house, picking up things here and there and generally just tidying up. He had already seen it a mess, so there wasn't a need to really clean anything. But Bridget thought it could be a little nicer when he got back.
She also set the table for their meal. A thin, white cloth was draped over the table and her good dishes were set out. She had to rummage through a few old boxes to find candlesticks that weren't already burned down to nubs. She set them in silver holders in the middle of the table. Next she found a nice bottle of red wine, and cleaned two glasses for them. She moved things about on the table, finding the most aesthetically pleasing configuration.

Ed returned with a bag and a gift box in hand, he tapped his foot on her door as his hands were full. "Bridget.. could you open the door?" He knew it was a little too soon for gifts but he couldn't wait. As he waited for the door to open a goofy smile appeared on his face.
(Yeah I kinda am)

((OOC: Je joue le vampire que vous parlez de.))
She ran to help him and swung the door open. His hands were full and he must've used his foot to knock. The sight made her laugh. "Here, let me help you." She grabbed the bag he was carrying and took it to the kitchen, emptying it's contents onto the counter. He certainly did get a lot of things, she knew this would have to be delicious.
"You were quick. I had expected you to be gone longer." She wasn't quite satisfied with the arrangement of the table and was considering changing it again when he had returned. But there was no point in it now.

Edward smiled, "I know it's too soon for gifts but I had been saving this for when I meet someone special..." He walked in then shut the door, he was a little nervous about the gift. He was worried it wouldn't fit or worse she wouldn't like it, he always searched the woods for dead animals and the gift in the box was made from Rabbit and fox fur. He held out the box for her to take, "I.. erm.. hope you like it.."
(You can say what it is)

At hearing the word "gift" Bridget dropped what she was doing and turned to Ed. He was holding out a large, white box. "Oh Ed, you didn't have to..." But she took the box from him anyway and lifted it's lid. Inside was something made of fur, but she couldn't tell what it was while it was still folded and laying inside it's box. She lifted it up and saw that it was a long coat, made of beautiful red furs.
She gasped at the sight of it. "Oh Ed!" Bridget clung to the coat as she wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. Never in her life had she received something so grand. She tried it on, and it fit perfectly. This would come in handy if she were to track a vampire up north, should she ever be allowed to return to regular patrol.

Edward hugged her back. "I'm glad you like it, I make fur clothes and boots, I make sure the animals are dead before I take them. That coat is made of rabbit and fox fur." He smiled and kissed her forehead, he was really glad she liked it. "Now I must get to cooking, you stay in here while I fix the food." He walked into the kitchen and began to prepare the chicken then he started chopping the veggies.

She did as he requested and stayed out of the kitchen, keeping herself busy in the sitting room while he prepared the food. She hung her new coat up in her wardrobe and fussed with her hair in a mirror over the fireplace. She could hear him chopping and moving things about in the other room, but she forced herself to stay out of the way. She did not liek sitting on the sidelines of anything, but since she fancied him so much, she would sit there patiently.
All of the moving about while he was gone was finally taking it's toll. She yawned, despite desperately trying to keep it in. She sat in a cushioned chair to wait for him, her eyes slowly drooping, then fluttering open in an attempt to delay sleep. By the time the noise in the kitchen was dying down Bridget was dozing in the chair, her head lulled back to one side and her legs curled up under her.
((OOC: Yawns are so contagious, just typing the word made me yawn, twice.))

Edward finally finished his sauce and poured it on both the chicken and mashed potatoes. He picked up the plates then walked to the table and sat each down. He turned to Bridget and smiled, he walked over to her and put his hand on her cheek, "Bridget? The food's ready if you want it."

She could hear Ed's voice as he roused her and it took a little while to really wake her up. She grinned sheepishly, embarrassed she had fallen asleep when he had been so busy preparing a nice meal for her. She allowed him to help her up and then moved to the table for supper. "It looks delicious. Where did you learn to cook like this?" Bridget had never been one for cooking, but was trying to learn.

"My mother and grandmother both taught me." Edward said smiling as he took his own seat. "Try it." He waited for her to try her food before he would take his own first bite.

Bridget had not realized just how hungry she was until she had her first bite. Sure, her stomach had been growling and there were definite hunger pains, but at that first bite of chicken she felt as though she hadn't eaten in years. It could have been her exhaustion that kept her from knowing just how much she was hungry, but Bridget liked the idea that it was Ed's terrific cooking that made her want to devour everything on her plate in a matter of minutes. If it weren't for manners, she might have done so.
"I'm sure if I had known my mother it would not have made a difference in my cooking abilities," she joked. She was in the process of learning but as it stood she was quite terrible. But if Ed were around more often she might not even need to bother with cooking.

Edward smiled and started eating. "My grandmother had a soup that everyone loved, but she took that secret to the grave. My mother tried to remember the ingredients for the soup and ended up with the sauce. She called it 'the soup sauce' but I and my father thought it should be something different. So in the end she named it 'the everything sauce'. I poured it on both the chicken and mashed potatoes"

"It's delicious," she exclaimed. Bridget definitely enjoyed having a man around the house, which rarely ever happened. She was much too particular. But Ed seemed the perfect match for her. They had plenty of things in common, but their differences were good conversation pieces. And he didn't pester her about her family or her past, which was just were she wanted to leave all of that. Behind her. She just wanted to think about the future now and all she could currently see was the two of them.
Dinner passed after a long while. They had so much to say to each other there was barely time to eat, though Bridget managed to clear her first and second plate. Between the two of them they were nearly through with their second bottle of wine, and Bridget was certainly feeling the effects of so much drink. She was giggling more than normal, and thought everything Ed said was funny. When she tried to clear the table with a spell she'd used hundreds of time, she accidentally ran a serving dish into the wall, spilling food over the floor. She found this even more hysterical than anything Ed had said all night. When she had regained some composure she cleared the mess and dragged Ed into the sitting room. She practically fell into his lap as she tried to sit next to him on the flower printed sofa.

As Bridget landed on his lap he let a small smile slip, he wasn't as bad off as she was but he was still pretty out of it. He had wondered where this would turn out to be, also where they would find themselves in the morning. She wasn't sure if he would be able to hold himself back if she did make a move.

"Ed," she said as she stared at him. "Tell me. Why is it you're still single? You can cook, you're caring, you're clearly very attractive. How is it you've not got yourself a girlfriend yet?" Her speech was clear for the most part, though she did slur a bit.

"I did have a girl once.. but she didn't like that I wouldn't finish school with her and that I wanted to fight wild animals... so after that I made myself a promise that the only type of girl I would date would be one that didn't mind me fighting wild animals." Ed told her as he brushed her hair, he wouldn't take back that girl even if she begged him to. He had found his perfect girl to be with and nothing was going to change that.

"That's too bad..." Bridget didn't really think it was. She was happy that he was available, and not intimidated by her profession, his being vaguely similar. "What sort of a woman doesn't want her bloke to be brave and strong?! You're better off without her. I know I would never tell you not to do what you love." She giggled then for reasons that were unknown, even to her.
It was getting late, the sun had set and the street lamps were lighting themselves. She could see little golden flickers through the windows. She was tired still, her short nap before super did very little to rest her. If anything, it made her more tired. She yawned, unable to keep it in any longer. Laying her head on his shoulder, she ran the tips of her fingers lightly down his arm and over his hand, taking his in hers and locking fingers.

Edward smiled, "I wouldn't take her back anyway. I've found my perfect gal." He felt himself getting a bit tired and chuckled when she yawned. "Tired?" He was content being with her, he could actually picture himself with her when he was older.

"Mmhmm..." She murmured, nodding her head slightly. She shut her eyes and drifted off to sleep, her head still resting on his shoulder and her hand in his. She would sleep well tonight.
