Bella had a meeting with Professor Rothschild in an hour to discuss her newly appointed position. Bella had mixed feelings about this post. On the one hand, she despised Isabella. The traitorous b*tch had not only abandoned the Dark Lord, but was also the reason her last mission was less than successful. Plus, the last thing Bellatrix had wanted to do after graduation was to go back to Hogwarts. And yet, on the other hand Lord Voldemort trusted her enough to send her to obtain the position and act as a spy until his next sinister plot came to fruition. Bella was honored and happily accepted the mission. But still she was not looking forward to beginning this job, nor was she excited to speak with Rothschild at the moment.
Having a little free time, Bellatrix opted to calm herself at the Hog's Head in Hogsmeade. This was the perfect place, since it was nearby the school and even if she became distracted she would not have far to go to be sure she was on time for her appointment. The place was near empty, as always and Bellatrix took a seat at the table nearest the door. She enjoyed watching the people come and go, and from here she could see out the window onto the street.
There were parts of the wall to her right where the wallpaper was tattered and torn. One of the window panes was held together by spellotape, a few small shards of glass still remaining on the windowsill. The table had rings on it, and carved into the wood someone had wrote 'A woman may be as wicked as she likes, but if she isn't pretty it won't do her much good'. Bella smiled at the crudely written quote. It seemed right up her alley.

Claudia entered the Hogs Head, still feeling smug from the earlier meeting. That she had been entrusted with the leadership of a massacre in Hogsmeade still filled her with immense satisfaction. Though smiles were rare on Claudia's face, she couldn't help smiling now. Of course, it was a smug, self-satisfied smile, but there was genuine joy behind it. Well, joy and a healthy dose of pride.
She had been walking around Hogsmeade all day, making plans of how to start the massacre to ensure the most death and destruction. She was seriously considering setting off an explosion in the candy store. She was practically salivating at the thought of all the innocent, stupid, fat children they could kill.
But now she needed a bit of refreshment. All the evil scheming had made her thirsty. She walked up to the bar and snarled her order, port wine with a twist of lemon, to the bartender. When she had her drink, she looked around at the typically grungy clientele. Disgusting creatures, she thought.
But one face stood out, and Claudia felt her euphoria begin to fade. Bellatrix. She sauntered over to the wretched girl's table and smirked. "Oh, look, it's Voldemort's second favorite," she drawled.

When Claudia came in Bellatrix's blood began to boil, but she remained silent. She clinched her teeth and pursed her lips as her eyes followed the blonde to the bar and met Claudia's when the woman finally noticed her.
"That's a way of announcing yourself Ive not heard yet." Bellatrix stared at Claudia, one eyebrow raised in defiance. Even though Bella was already in the midsts of a mission for the Dark Lord, she was still peeved that Claudia was given control over the attack on Hogsmeade. And of course, Claudia was smug as hell about it.

Claudia's eyes narrowed in loathing for the young, upstart girl. "Do you honestly think the Dark Lord could possibly favor a nothing little girl like you, fresh out of school, over an experienced witch like myself? You really are deluded," she said in an icy tone. She walked over and sat down, crossing her legs elegantly in front of her. "So, I hear he's given you your own little mission. What is it this time? Playing nurse maid to a bunch of whiny little brats?"

She sneered as Claudia sat with her. The nerve! "I'm quite certain the Dark Lord, much like myself, sees right through you. You're an old hag who's only joy in life is making people suffer. You'd latch onto any cause that gave you such allowances. The Dark Lord, on the other hand, strives to rid us of the muggles and mudbloods to better our world. They're polluting our way of life. And you're along for the ride because it's fun for you. So yes, I do believe the Dark Lord favors me, an activist for the cause, over a mindlessly blood-thirsty cow like you.
"And as for my mission, it's really none of your business. Though I'll let you know that it's more complicated than your little task. Any idiot could burn down a few buildings and kill a couple of students. Only a truly passionate person could spy for the Dark Wizard without being found out. It's obvious why he didn't assign you to it."

Claudia rolled her eyes dramatically. "Oh, is that what he calls it? Spying? Right... I'm pretty sure that's the kind of assignment he gives when he just wants to get the person out of his way. But whatever, you can keep deluding yourself of your own importance." She took a long drink from her glass, then turned on Bella with an icy smile. "If you were all that important to him, he'd have made you a leader, like he did me."

Whatever Claudia said, Bellatrix knew it was just out of jealousy. She trusted that her master felt she were an important part of his plans. He cared for her and wouldn't send her to Hogwarts just to get rid of her. Despite what Claudia was trying to do, there was no doubt in Bella's mind that Lord Voldemort wanted her at his side.
However, the assumption the old bat had made infuriated Bella. She wrongly assumed that Claudia were more important to the Dark Wizard than Bellatrix. Bella wouldn't stand for this. Bella slammed her hands onto the table top and leaned forward, narrowing her eyes on the blonde. "You may think your mission is of the utmost importance, but do not assume to know how the Dark Lord feels about me. You know nothing!"

Claudia smirked as Bellatrix slammed her hands on the table, splashing their drinks on the pitted wood surface. She leaned back in her chair and looked at her perfectly manicured hands, as if Bella wasn't even there. "Oh, my, my, such a temper. Have I touched a nerve? Or is it time for your bottle?"

Bella scowled. She had played right into Claudia's hand. But she couldn't help herself. Claudia had demeaned the only thing she truly cared about; her relationship with the Dark Lord. Bellatrix stared silently for some time, willing herself to calm down. She adopted a pose much like Claudia's; relaxed in her chair and a pompous, yet serene, look about her. "You really are an ignorant b*tch," Bella said matter-of-factly. "Do you honestly not realize how expendable you are in all of this? Do you not see how little he cares about you? He's sent you to lead an attack, knowing full well you possibly won't survive. I, on the other hand, have an important and secure mission ahead of me."

Claudia bit down on the inside of her cheek, tasting the sharp, metallic tinge of her own blood. She was not going to let this little wretch get to her. She knew full well that the Dark Lord trusted her deeply; had he not given her the important task of hiding his precious locket? He had taken her to that dark cave, high in the side of a cliff. Surely she was important to him if he would take her someplace so secret and important. "Say what you will, little girl. I know that the Dark Lord values me greatly. You're just a young thing with much to learn, and frankly, you're lucky he tolerates you and your presumptuous attitude."

Bella smirked. Though Claudia's response seemed confident on the surface, the length of time she took before saying anything proved her to be unsure. The score was now even, and Bella would be damned if she let Claudia get one up on her again. She would do everything in her power to prove the Dark Lord cared for herself over Claudia, short of putting the question to him personally.
"Well you've finally gotten something right. I do have a lot to learn. And I have been studying, learning. He knows that and I believe He is appreciative of my hard work. You could do with a bit more learning too, but...what is the expression? You can't teach an old dog new tricks. And you're just too old." Bella giggled, a smug look on her face. She knew that one day Claudia would fail to impress her master and need to be done away with. She could only hope it Bellatrix who had the honor.

A muscle twitched in Claudia's jaw. "I wonder, little girl, whether the Dark Lord would really continue to be as appreciative of your dubious talents if I were to strike you with the furnunuculus curse," she said through gritted teeth. "Or a premature aging curse. Or perhaps I should just spare you the humiliation and JUST... KILL... YOU... NOW!" As she said this last part, she stood up and leaned across the table, closer and closer, with her wand in the girl's face. "You're nothing but a tedious, headstrong little whelp, and the Dark Lord will tire of your antics soon enough, as soon as he realizes how little you have to offer!"

Bellatrix angrily slapped Claudia's wand hand away and stood also, drawing her wand on the older Death Eater. Tauntingly she replied, "I'd look a right bit like you, I'd suspect. So I'd say he wouldn't fancy me at all." Quickly changing targets, Bellatrix aimed a Blasting Curse at the table between them, sending it flying in Claudia's direction. Bella had to jump back to not be hit by the table's legs as it flung itself toward the blonde.

Claudia's wand clattered to the floor after Bella swiped at it. But before she could go after it, Bella blasted the table toward her. Claudia fell backward as the table hurtled in her direction. But she landed on her backside and quickly rolled out of the way of the table and dove for her wand. Aiming it at Bella, she shouted, "Sectumsempra!"

Bellatrix attempted to dodge the flash of light that was hurtling towards her but she was not quick enough. The curse sliced her right side, causing Bella to crumple over in pain. She clasped her hand to her side and when she looked down her hand was covered in blood. "You b*tch!" Through the pain Bella managed to send another spell, an acid throwing curse she had been practicing. She looked down at her wound again. It was deep, and bleeding profusely. Her nice robes were blood stained and torn.

Claudia laughed at the injury she had caused Bella. So the little whelp wasn't quite so clever as she wanted everyone to believe she was. Of course, while she was gloating over this, she failed to pay attention to the spell that was aimed at her. The acid struck her in the arm, instantly burning a large whole in the fabric of her robe, and beginning to eat away at her flesh.
Claudia let out a loud curse, then quickly set to work on the counter curse. It stopped the acid from eating through her skin, but it left behind a fiercely puckered, red scar that stung painfully. Looking up at the child with hateful eyes, Claudia hissed, then fired a flame-throwing curse at the girl.

There was plenty of time to think clearly before Claudia threw another spell. So when a blast of flames came her way Bella was able to conjure an ice shield to combat it. The fire met the ice and melted into a large puddle on the ground, soaking the dingy wood floors but successfully stopping Claudia's attack.
The gouge in her side was still open from Claudia's first attack. It hurt immensely, but it wasn't fatal. It would simply waste time to bother with it now and Bellatrix did not want to give Claudia any more advantage than those which she already had; experience and years of unresolved baggage. Bella could feel the blood spreading over her robes, making her angrier and angrier. Claudia might have scarred her gorgeous, flawless body. She was currently making her late for an important appointment at the school. The Dark Lord would hear of their cat fight and surely punish them.
Bella's anger grew as her blood drenched the fabric now sticking to her hip and leg. Her heart was racing, her breath shallow, a snarl forming on her lips. She swore an immense string of obscenities at Claudia. "You've ruined everything you selfish cow! Crucio!" It was the first time she had performed an Unforgivable. It may have been a bit weaker than those performed by more experienced wizards, but she meant to cause Claudia pain with all her heart.

The curse ripped through Claudia's small frame, causing her whole body to shake with pain. There was a good amount of power and hate behind the curse, and Claudia felt every bit of it. She let out a loud string of vile obscenities, coupled with a high-pitched screech. But as powerful as the curse was, it didn't last long. Soon the effects lessened, and Claudia was able to roll away, then stand on her own two feet. Her legs shook slightly for a moment before she settled. "So... was that your first Unforgivable? Not bad for a beginner. But why don't you let me show you how it's done? CRUCIO!" She lunged at Bella, firing the curse directly at the girl's chest.

Her attempt to block the curse was useless, Claudia was too powerful and her anger with Bellatrix too great. Her body seared with pain, forcing her legs to give out beneath her and her body begin to convulse rapidly. Her eyes watered as she howled in agony, unable to find a moment's peace under Claudia's spell which lasted much longer than Bella's had. When the curse was finally released Bellatrix was short of breath, her face streaked with tears, and her body unable to cooperate in rising from the filthy floor. She had never been in so much pain, it was terrible and glorious. Her body ached for the power which Claudia had held over her, she wanted to make others feel as helpless as she did now. Despite the pain, Bellatrix began to laugh, when her lungs allowed her the required breath.

Vincent had just come back to the Hog's Head from a late day at the Ministry, when he saw that the place was a mess. Tables were strewn across the room, a broken chair sat in pieces in the middle of the floor, and two women seemed to be in the center of it all. One, a blonde woman, stood over the other, a youner brunette. The brunette was lying on the floor, making a bizarre choking/laughing sound. He immediately rushed over to them and stood between them. "Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?" he said authoritatively.
