Samuel straighted his robes as he readied for his first time teaching. He was pleased that he had Care of Magical Creatures. Over all, it wouldn't be that hard of a class to teach, plus it was his best when he was in school. Another pleasing, yet annoying thing was that Yasmina would also be teaching with him. It wasn't that he didn't like her, it was just she could sometime be annoying, but he would deal with it, as usual.

Regina made her way out of the school and onto the grounds. They had a new Care of Magical Creatures professor....... again. Care of Magical Creatures wasn't one of Gina's favorites but, she didn't really mind the class, after all, she did get to mess with all different types of creatures, and frankly, that's what she liked.
Once she made it to her destination, she noticed that she was the only one there, besides who she assumed to be the professor. He looked, well, nice looking. Not one that she thought would become a professor, but whatever floats his boat. Regina sighed and waited on her fellow students to arrive. Even though he seemed to be nice looking, he seemed to have something different about him.

Ruecain wasn't looking forward to Care of Magical Creatures...mostly because Creatures implied dirt. Either way, he walked to class and figured he would deal with messes as they came. It wouldn't be any different than when his younger sisters decided to play with mud or make cakes out of dirt...he hoped.

Bek walked gracefully over to the Care of Magical Creatures class and stood, looking around and noticing that not many people were there. She hoped the class would be bigger, but until everyone arrived, she pulled out a book and began reading.

Bek saw another girl walk by the class and looked up from her book, a rare occurence. She walked over to her and decided to greet her. "Hi, I'm Bek," she said. "You look familiar....are you Maxi's friend Natalie?"

Seth only took C.O.M.C. to spite his parents. Creatures and things were more of his friend Bek's area of expertice. But, as any Inophen man would, he walked onto the gounds with his famous 1000-Watt smile. He spotted Bek and Natalie talking over to the side and decided to greet them.
"Bek, Natalie," Seth greeted. "How are you?"

"You're taking this class Nopho?" Bek asked. Creatures and such were not really Seth's for-tae. He was probably here because he parents told him not to take the class.
"I'm good, and you?"

"Fine I guess.." Seth said, he looked around the class and noticed how bare it looked. "Want to bet I'm the only Slytherin here?"

Rystain walked confidently across the lawn and found where class was being held today. They had a new professor he realized and smirked. They never were able to keep a professor for this job for some reason. It was one of his best classes though not necessarily his favorite. He saw the younger Slytherin boy and smiled at him, he'd known the kid since it was hard not to notice a boy who was a bit unusually mild natured for a Slytherin. Rystain was confident, ambitious and suavve but he was also rather friendly. Not that he had many good friends but he knew that to get what you wanted in life you could get more out of people with honey than sour grapes. But he also tended to be more friendly to those who stood out in the crowd as unusual or gifted. Rystain nodded hello to the boy and looked at the girl he was talking to. He didn't know her name but she was cute for a Gryffindor and he gave a charming grin that didn't quite reach his eyes.

Bek was about to answer Seth when she saw an older Slytherin boy walk to the class. He was, well, for Bek to put it lightly, gorgeous. He nodded to Seth, and then smiled at Bek. "Oh wow," she whispered so only Seth could hear. She smiled back at the boy.
"Hi," she said, never ashamed to be the first to introduce herself. "I'm Bek."

Rystain allowed the smile to reach his eyes and replied with an easy casual grace, "Hello Bek, I'm Rystain.. I don't think I've met you before. You a friend of Seth here? He's a good kid, odd but good." He was commenting that he was not like most slytherins he'd known and hoped she understood since he thought she was seth's friend and would know it already and he wasn't afraid to say it where seth could hear him since it wasnt' intended as an insult.
Rystain gave a grin that flashed his white teeth and crinkled his eyes in a smile, he reached up with his thumb and brushed a way a lock of hair that had fallen over his left eye so he could get a better look at a girl who wasn't afraid to approach him. He stood with his ankles crossed as he leaned on a nearby tree while he said, "So are you any good with magical creatures?" He had meant it as a conversation started but also to maybe get a hint of what she liked, he wasn't even sure what grade she was in though he suspected she was somewhere between 5th or 7th by looks alone.

Bek ran a finger through her red streaked black hair. She smiled widely, her smile brightening up her face quite nicely. "Yea, Nopho is a pretty good kid," she said affectionatly, rubbing the boy's curly head. She turned back to Rystain. He wasn't like the other Slytherins she had met in her past 6 years at Hogwarts, (not including Seth). He was, nicer. and Bek liked that.
"I'm pretty good with them yea," Bek said, refering to the animals and creatures. "It's pretty natural to me, actually," she blushed a bit, normally modest about her skill with magical creatures. "How about you?"

"eeh.. can't complain really.. I get good grades and avoid studying like the plague but you wont' see me becoming some naturalist or anything by a long shot. It's one thing to be good at something and something else entirely to actually enjoy it. But I figure eh, might as well take an easy class this year I could use a good NEWT grade for my elective this year." It's not that he disliked creatures or animals, he just didn't like dealing with them all the time.. they were usually biting or smelling or causing some type of complication and he just didn't want to waste the time with something he couldn't reason with.

"I have to say we'll agree to dissagree on that one Rystain," Bek said kindly. She saw something on the tree trunk above Rystain's head move toward him and she said a small "oh," before going to get it. She stepped closer to Rystain and grabbed the thing that was about to crawl onto Rystain's hair. She then stepped back, the thing in her hand.
"Sory," Bek said politely, revealing what she caught. It was a stray bowtruckle that was living in the tree Rystain was leaning against and hadn't been to happy with where he leant. The Bowtruckle scratched Bek, causing her to yelp and drop the creature as it ran into the forrest.
"Ow," she said, gripping the spot on her hand where she was scratched.

"see that's exactly what I'm talking about.. they are uncontrollable and unpredictable half the time and they don't listen to reason. It's one thing to know, it's another thing to have to live with them on daily basis or deal with them all the time." He thought he was making perfect reasonable sense and was sure that she'd made his point for him when she managed to get scratched. "by the way, thanks for catching that thing I didn't see it"

"Well of course they don't listen to reason, Rystain, they aren't human," Bek said. "And no problem. I figured you wouldn't appreciate it if it had crawled into your hair," she laughed lightly, still checking the scratch on her hand. It was bleeding and hurt a lot more than it should...

Samuel counted six students as they appeared. Great. It was just going to be him with the students, because apparently Yasmina backed out. Oh well. That would be alright, he could handle the students.
Clearing his throat to capture the attention of his students Samuel stood up a little straighter. "Listen up students," he said. "I am Professor Reid and I am your new Care of Magical Creatures Professor. Now, we'll just go ahead and begin class and other students that appear will be counted as tardy." He glanced around at the six that stood there. Maybe it wasn't going to be as bad as he though. Care of Magical Creatures was his favorite class during his time in school.
"For starters, who can tell me what a Doxy is?"

Rystain answered without raising his hand since the professor hadn't mentioned the need to raise it, he wasn't being eager he just knew the answer and wanted to get on with the lesson. The sooner it was over the sooner he could go do something else.
"It's a fairy-type critter that has a venomous bite, nasty little biting fairies." He'd remembered having a doxy infestation for a week in his house growing up before they'd discovered it when the house elf had gotten bit and needed an antidote to get better. His mother had been furious that her favorite drapes had been infested and she'd had to buy an entire new set from the damage they'd caused. His father hadn't been to happy about the money she spent on them either but of course she had to have the best and there had been a new set for sale that were magically enchanted to open and close depending on the position of the sun and time of day to allow the most light into the room on it's own.
