Cassidy left Tyler's place, still feeling very confused. She desperately needed some advice. On an impulse, she turned down Evangeline's street instead of taking the extra block to her house. She hoped Evangeline wasn't too busy, because she really needed to talk. She hurried down the street and up the stairs to Evangeline's house. Then she knocked on the door almost frantically. "Evangeline! Are you home? I need to talk to you," she called.

Evangeline was washing up a few dishes when she heard a knock on her door, followed by Cassidy's voice. She stopped what she was doing, and headed for the door as she dried her hands on her pants legs. Evangeline quickly opened the door. "Hey Cass. Come in," she said stepping out of the door. "What's wrong," she said closing the door behind Cassidy.

Cassidy stepped in and immediately began pacing nervously. "I, um... I did something kinda crazy. I kinda... well, I asked Tyler out. I acted like it wasn't a date, but... it is. Kinda. I said I would bring some friends with me... you, maybe Angelique... but now I'm all nervous because I've never really gone out on a date with anyone, and I... I think I really like him. What do I do?"

Evangeline reached out and put her hands on Cassidy's shoulders to stop her from pacing. "Aw! I'm proud of you for asking! First of all, don't be nervous! Second of all, it's just a normal thing. Don't think of it as a date, think of it as you're going to the same place, and the same time, and you're just doing stuff together," said Evangeline.

"Will you come with me? I don't know if there's anyone you could go with... but I could use some moral support... someone to keep me from looking stupid... Oh, what was I thinking? I mean, I just felt bad that he's stuck in his house all the time, and I thoguht it would be good for him to go out... and I just said it." Cassidy took a deep breath. "I went over for a visit and he was just so... nice... and lonely... and cute... Is it wrong for me to like him like this? I mean, I'm working on his case...."

Evangeline laughed. "No, it's not wrong," said Evangeline. "Hmm, I'm not sure. More than likely, and I think I know just the person to go with, but what day were you planning on going," she asked.

Cassidy relaxed slightly. "I told him I'd check with you and Angelique to see when would be a good time for you... so it doesn't really matter. He's available anytime, of course." She sat down on the sofa and twisted her hands nervously. "Today, when we were talking... I sorta felt like he liked me, too, but then he said I should get out more and maybe meet a guy... But then he seemed like he wished he hadn't said it... Do you think he could possibly like me, too?"

Evangeline smiled and sat down beside her. "Well, from what you tell me, I do believe he does! I think that both of you are nervous of each other too, so one of you is going to have to do something, if not, then how can you be for certain? You know I would go! Just tell me a day, just not Friday. What about Saturday, or Thursday? Those days will be perfect!"

I know we haven't known her that long, but I thought she might like to come... I'm sure she can find someone to go with... she's so pretty and not at all shy... What are you doing on Friday?"

"I just have something to do," said Evangeline with a smile. "I ran into Wes yesterday afternoon in the Three Broomsticks, and we talked for awhile and I ended up agreeing to go to dinner with him on Friday, because we both found out that we liked each other in school and he asked if we could basically start over by going to dinner on Friday, and I agreed, but it's nothing important. Tell me more about you and Tyler."

I just always feel like we both have something we want to say, but are afraid to say it. I mean, it's possible that he just likes me because I'm the only one staying with him during all of this.... I don't know. But I definitely trust him..."

"Well, that's a good start," said Evangeline. "Trust is a big thing. You should just say whatever comes to your mind when you're with him. Just like you asking him out. That just came out didn't it? You should try that with other things. Don't care what he thinks. If he doesn't like you like you, then that's his problem, not yours, although I don't see why he wouldn't like you like that. Just blurt it out, then you can feel shy about it later! I promise, just blurting stuff out that you're thinking, it makes you feel better!"

If it comes out stupid, it just comes out stupid. There's nothing to worry about! Just try it! I promise it'll make you feel better. If you're thinking that he's cute at the moment, then just say you think he's cute. I know that sounds strange, but that's just an example."

Evangeline smiled. "You don't have to say that one," said Evangeline. "I know you think about some other things, so just say those. I know it's hard, but it gets easier. But then the only way it gets easier is if you don't act so shy about it. OK, here's a suggestion. I'm not sure how this would work, but anyway, just pretend that when you're talking to Tyler, you're talking to me, and just say something to him about him that you would say to me. Make sense?"

Cassidy looked worried. "I don't know... it sounds hard... I mean, sometimes I can talk to him just fine and others, I just freeze up..." She sighed. "Anyway, where do you think we should go? Oh, and what should I wear? I don't think I have anything nice enough..."

"Well, you can look in my closet. You know most of my clothes can fit you," said Evangeline. "You can help yourself, or we could always go shopping. Well, we could go to the Hot Panini. That's basically the only really nice place to go eat around here.

"Just stuff like we're talking about now," said Evangeline. "Just regular stuff. It's nothing special. You could talk about how green the grass is, or something like that. Whatever comes to mind really." Evangeline gave her a smile. "Just let me know when you want to go shopping. By the way, I think that you'll do great!"
