Cassidy smiled. "I definitely don't see you doing any of those other things. I know a guy who used to work in the department of mysteries. He was a nice guy, but kind of... bookish. He wasn't a very good fighter, and was better at research and stuff. I think that's why he became an Unspeakable. No, if you were to do anything other than be an auror... well, I could kind of see you as a teacher."

Tyler shrugged again. "I suppose that wouldn't be too bad. But I don't know how well I would be with all of those students. I've never been real great with kids. I'm not really sure why..." He frowned slightly. "And I'm sure the fact that I've pretty much been publicly described as a criminal wouldn't really help much." He added with a small chuckle. "But you...you might make a pretty good teacher. You even kind of seem like the type." He smiled, imagining her teaching at Hogwarts.

Cassidy smiled. "I thought about being a teacher. My parents even said I should be a teacher... which was why I decided not to. You see, I really am a rebel at heart." She laughed slightly. "But you know, I bet you'd be better with kids than you think you would. Kids aren't really all that different from adults... you just have to know how to reach them. But anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about what you're going to do yet... let's just see how the case turns out. It really does seem like it's taking forever, doesn't it?"

Tyler let out a small sigh in response. "Yeah, let me tell you. You would not believe how slowly time seems to go by when I'm sitting in here all alone. Occasionally I'll find something to do that might keep me busy for a few hours, but after that it just goes back to being the same old boring, seemingly empty house. Trust me when I say that I won't be taking my time away from the house for granted anymore after I get out of this." He replied. "But I am starting to get to used to it a little bit, so it's not as bad as it was in the beginning. Once they at least set the date for the hearing, it'll make it a lot easier for me. So then at least I'll know how long I have to wait."

Cassidy smiled sympathetically. "I know... it must be so frustrating for you. That's why I try to stop by whenever I can, just to keep you updated on things, and to maybe give you a little distraction. Maybe I can try to talk to someone who's in the Wizengamot and see if I can get them to schedule your trial. But I think the problem is with the delay in picking a new minister of magic. We have to get that resolved soon..."

"I don't actually even know who's in the running. It seems like they all only get worse every few years, so I usually don't even pay attention to the whole matter. From what I've seen, it's much easier of a job than it's made out to be- even if it is pretty stressful. I mean, compared to being an Auror.... We should be the ones getting that kind of respect, in all modesty." Tyler said, seriously. "But, uh...yeah. I'm glad that you do come over so often. It does help quite a lot and it usually makes me feel a little better to be updated every once in a while." He added.

Cassidy smiled. "The only one I know who might be running is Christian Matthews. I don't know if you've met him before, but he seems like an OK guy," Cassidy said, shrugging. She gave him a little smile. "There really doesn't appear to be too much going on right now, and I guess that's a good thing. I just hope it doesn't mean that Voldemort is off planning something. But anyway, yeah, I like coming over here, too. I mean, I feel sort of responsible for you. I just wish we could get this case over with, so you wouldn't be stuck here."

"Christian Matthews? The name sounds familiar but I don't think I've ever met him." Tyler shook his head. "But I don't want you to have to feel responsible for me. I mean, I know you don't have a problem with doing all this stuff for me alongside the basics for the case. It just makes me feel kind of bad when you do so much. But I guess whatever you feel like you need to do- go ahead- as long as it doesn't really inconvenience you at all." He added with a smile. He had to admit that it felt kind of odd to have someone else doing so much for him. He had been alone for quite a while and was very much used to doing everything himself. But it was a nice break to have Cassidy helping him out. Even though it made him feel useless and rude to be making her do so much while at the same time single-handedly working his case.

"Oh, no... really, it's no inconvenience," Cassidy said quickly. "I like doing these things for you... it's not like I have a whole lot of other things to do, just work on your case and visit you, really. Well, and visit my friend Evangeline. But that's really it, you know? I don't exactly get out a whole lot." She blushed. "It's actually sort of nice to feel like I'm needed... Not to say, of course, that you can't get by without me, I mean, I'm sure you'd be fine, but, you know..." She realized she was babbling again, and she closed her mouth quickly.

Tyler chuckled lightly as she abruptly stopped talking. "No, trust me. I need you. I would've exploded out of frustration about a week and a half ago without you. All of this is way too much for me to mentally handle alone. I would've cracked and I'd probably be sitting in either St. Mungo's or Azkaban next to some psycho serial killer." He said, feeling both slightly amused and uneasy by the thought. "But I think that maybe you should try and get out more. You know, just try some new things and live a little or maybe even...uh, meet a guy or something." He added, but he knew that a large part of him immediately regretted suggesting it.

Cassidy blushed and stared down at the floor. "Oh... no... I really... I mean... I don't have good luck with guys. And I... I'm not really interested in seeing anyone now..." She hesitated. Her excuses sounded lame, but she couldn't tell him the truth. She suddenly realized that no other guy could make her feel the way Tyler did. She didn't know what that meant, and had even less of an idea how to tell him this. "I, uh... I like spending time with you," she finished weakly.

Tyler could instantly tell how uncomfortable he had made her and knew it was a stupid thing to bring up. But still...her answer surprised him. He didn't quite know how exactly to reply to it, so he just smiled at her and went with the first thing that came to him. "Oh..uh...yeah, I know what you mean. I mean, I can't really blame you. Most guys can be real idiots these days anyhow. But I think being in a relationship like that is probably pretty overrated." He said, awkwardly. It was of course, pretty much a lie. It was easy to tell himself that Cassidy was so much different from anyone else he had ever known. And almost as easy to admit to himself that simply looking her in the face made him smile. But it seemed strangely impossible to say either of these things to Cassidy herself. If a small reference to the matter made the two of them this awkward and uncomfortable, Tyler couldn't help but think about how odd it would be if he went even further into explaining his feelings for her.

Cassidy smiled shyly. "Oh, I don't know... I mean... a relationship wouldn't be so bad... you know, to have someone to love and who would always be there for you... but, well, I... I don't want to just go out and look for it. My friend used to always say that you don't find it, it finds you." She giggled nervously. "If that makes any sense..." She was starting to feel very flushed, and very confused. A part of her wanted to run away, but she couldn't quite seem to make herself move.

"Yeah, I suppose I know what you mean." Tyler replied, grinning stupidly as his face turned a deep red shade. A part of him felt like doing something completely spontaneous, but he knew it wasn't the time. He was just going to try and act calm and casual despite the fact that the subject was making him unusually nervous and uncomfortable. "So...um...how is that one friend of your's doing? Evangeline, right?" He asked, acting on the first thing that came to mind that might get them on a different topic.

Cassidy relaxed immediately. "Oh, right, yes... Evangeline. Well, She's not doing too great... this guy that she was sort of seeing kinda dumped her without even telling her first. We ran into him at the Three Broomsticks, and he was really rude to her, too. He even tried to hit on me. Ugh, what a jerk..."

"Oh, well....that kinda sucks." Tyler said frankly. "That's what I meant when I said most guys are idiots these days. They'll hit on anything that moves. It's disgusting. What was his name, anyway?" He asked, feeling like it was responsibility to find the guy and beat him sideways. Unfortunately, there was only so much that he could do while he was under house arrest.

"Tristan Collins," said Cassidy. "Evangeline and I knew him back in school, too... he wasn't like that back then." She shook her head. "I didn't tell Evangeline, but I once had a crush on him. She liked his friend, Wesley, who was crazy about her... but they were both too shy to ask each other out..." She gave a slight giggle. "I'm sure you really don't care about any of this, do you? It was just weird... having him try to hit on me. There was a time I would have liked it, but now I see he's just a jerk." She looked up at Tyler through her thick lashes. "But not all guys are like that..."

"Tristan Collins? That sounds vaguely familiar..." Tyler replied, curiously. "But no, I really don't mind hearing about all of this. Right now I'll talk about just about anything that doesn't involve my case. And besides, it's nice to hear about all this stuff about you. I don't really know much about your past." He said, smiling. "And OK, maybe not all guys are like that. But a fair lot of them are. And it's pretty embarrassing to our gender, quite frankly. I don't understand why someone would want to go out and have a bunch of one-night stands and never actually commit to anything or experience an actual relationship. It's so insensitive."

Cassidy smiled. "I'm glad you feel that way," she said. "I really don't understand why anyone would want to be that way, either. Besides just being cruel and insensitive, you would think that a person like that would eventually get lonely, you know? He's just hurting people for no reason, and in the end, he's just going to be alone. It's almost sad, except that he really does deserve whatever he gets."

"Yeah. It just shows that he's a coward and that he's afraid of commitment. And I'm sure Evangeline's a nice person and everything. There's no reason for someone to go walking around, looking to hurt someone else like that. The only problem is that most of the people like that aren't actually getting what they deserve, you know? I'd personally be more than happy to give this guy a little reinforcement of what it feels like to get "hit on", if you know what I mean." Tyler said, grinning.
