Karl glanced over at Becky and her new friend. "Yeah, I guess she is," he said. "I like her. She's nice. I hope that guy's nice, too." He looked back at Chloe. "So, do you want another drink or anything?"

"OK, I'll get you some water," Karl said. "I really like butterbeer, so I get one for myself." He waved at the bartender. "Can we have a glass of water and a butterbeer over here?" He smiled. "I think this is the best night of my life."

Chloe laughed. "I'm glad it is," said Chloe. "And, this is the happiest night in my life, well, so far," she added with a smile. "Ah, I remember the first time I saw you. You were drinking butterbeer, although, it was going everywhere." Chloe gave him a wink. "But I still thought you were handsome then."

Karl laughed. "Yeah... I never been real good with table manners. But I've been trying to get better. Skye's been teachin' me. Look," he said, pointing to his shirt. "I only spilled a little bit."

Becky nodded. "Yeah, OK. Come on." She took his hand and led him off the dance floor and walked over to where Chloe and Karl were standing. "Hey, guys, how's it going?" she said with a smile. "I want you to meet Jude. Jude, this is Karl and Chloe."

"Well, I've known Becky for close to a year," said Chloe. "Ever since the Hot Panini opened up, so yeah, it's been about a year. I've known Karl for about seven months, I think," she said.

Karl felt awkward, he wasn't sure what to say to this new guy. He didn't talk to a lot of people who weren't werewolves, and he felt a bit strange among them. he just smiled and let Chloe do all the talking.

Becky smiled. "Well, Jude went to a private magic school, so he's never been to Hogwarts. But you didn't tell me what you do now?" she asked, looking at him. CHloe and I are waitresses and Karl... well, Karl doesn't really work. What about you?"

Jude shrugged. "I guess you could say I'm in between jobs right now. I came to town hoping to change that... but so far I haven't had any luck. I don't really need to work, but I'm bored, you know? What do you guys do around here for fun?"
