Edward has been described as old-fashioned by a lot of people, mainly the woman he has dated in the past. He likes sending cards and flowers “just because” and is always ready with a smile and a helping hand to most people. He doesn’t like being a part of everyone’s business; he figures if someone wants him to know what they were doing or what happened the night before, they will tell him. Edward thinks about his friends always, however, and sends them notes every so often to see how they are doing, even if he hasn’t talked to them in weeks. At work, he doesn’t stop working until the task is complete, and often does what his boss tells him to without bothering to ask why. He knows this could get him into trouble, but he would rather not question the person with the power to fire him. Edward likes when people go to him to talk, he doesn’t like being the first person to start a conversation unless it’s amongst people he knows, such as friends and co-workers, but even with strangers he doesn’t pass up the opportunity for a joke if the situation warrants it. He would rather not fight, seeing as he was never good at dueling, and he tends to get his words mixed up during a verbal fight. He is laid back and doesn’t let a lot of things bother him.

History:
Edward Baxter was an only child, born to Robert, an Auror, and Jennie, a writer for the Daily Prophet. As an only child, his parents doted on him and always made sure he knew he was loved. His mother left her job shortly after he was born, so while his father was busy at work Edward would spend all day with her. This made him very close to her, and he hated going to school because being away from her was hard. He was never very close with his father, since Robert was usually always at the office or on the field. Edward enjoyed hearing Robert’s stories, however; whenever he would pull Edward into his lap to tell of his day at work Edward would always ask questions and knew that one day he had to be like his father. He was always happy when his father would return to work, since then his mother would tell him stories about Hogwarts and magic and the friends she had made, even if she lost touch with most of them after Edward was born. Edward always felt responsible for her friends not talking to her, since she had spent so much time making sure her son was alright, so he tried to be all of her friends for her, taking on various personality traits Jennie said her friends had. That shaped him to the person he grew up to be, even down to the messy desk and running from his problems.
When he was 11 his letter for Hogwarts came, and he realized that being away from his mother for most of the year would be the most difficult thing he would have to do. His mother promised she would write him often, and that was enough for him to attend Hogwarts, rather than turn the admission down and continue his life as if he were a muggle. While at Hogwarts, he was sorted into Hufflepuff for his hard-working and loyal nature. His mother was proud, herself being a former Hufflepuff.
Edward wasn’t all that popular in school, but he did have a few good friends that he was loyal to, never once saying anything against them to anyone, as he often heard other students doing. He couldn’t understand how someone could call a person their friend but turn around and complain about things they did. This made him paranoid that his friends were making fun of him behind his back, but he tried not to think about that, since it was something he couldn’t change.
When he was sixteen, his father was killed in an accident while at work, and Edward was taken from school for a couple of days to be with his mother and attend his father’s funeral. He hated seeing his mother upset, and decided against his initial plan to be an Auror like his father. He thought a lot about getting married and having children, even while in Hogwarts, and he knew he wouldn’t be able to enjoy being an Auror if it meant he could possibly leave his own wife in the state his mother was in. This caused him to develop a better sense of humor, joking often to cheer his mother up during the few days he was out of school, something he has kept up to this day.
After graduation, Edward decided to write for the Daily Prophet, taking after his mother once again. He loved his job, getting to write about a range of topics, and he was often sent to different places to gather information. While working in the office late one night to get a story done in his fifth year of writing, he met Violet Keller. She was four years younger than him, fresh out of Hogwarts and brand new to the job. Edward offered to help her out and show her around the office and the two of them began spending more time together. They eventually ended up dating, and Edward doted on her the way his mother did on him; he wrote to her often, even if he saw her every day, and sent her the flowers and candies he knew she loved, often for no reason other than he saw them and thought of her. After dating for two years, the pair decided to get a house together with the money they saved up. Everything seemed like a dream, free of conflict, and Edward was thinking of marrying her. Just one day shy of their six-year anniversary Edward came home from the office to find Violet gone. He searched every room for her, and found all her things gone as well. He was crushed; she had left him with no note telling him why, or where she had gone. About a year after she left he finally got a letter from her telling him she had moved to America and found someone to marry, and so Edward decided to find someone better for himself, even if he knew he would still love Violet for some time.
Anything else? He started to change while I was writing him, so hopefully he’s still want you wanted! And I realized I made him a total mama’s boy. Lol I think a lot of my characters are close to their moms…
