Brook can be a dangerous flirt, she’s known for getting herself into and out of trouble much to the disturbance of her Guardian Grayson Steele. She’s overall a nice person, and would help you if necessary but believes it’s essential for everyone to look out for themselves. She believes in getting her way, because after all her way is the right way, and just be careful your way doesn’t clash with her own. She’s been known to do whatever it takes without much regard toward the consequences. Having her guardian being the once very impressive detective has taught her a rebellious dislike for the rules, but not for Grayson himself. She’s very loyal to her guardian, even if she think she’s smarter than him, which she’s not…but pretty darn close.
History:
Brook’s parents were Archaeologists. Neither one of them were magical but they firmly believed in magical beings, supported by some of their digs. When Brooklyn was born both of her parents were too busy doing digs to spend much time with her so she was left with a nanny of sorts while they roamed fantastic places like Egypt, Greece, and Rome. When she was six they finally deemed her old enough to travel along with them to these exotic places. They were both trying to prove that magical beings existed or at least had once existed in history.
Had they lived to see their daughter turn eleven, they would have had all the proof they needed. Unfortunately there was a freak accident during one of their expeditions, where a wall collapsed and behind which was a surplus of water. She and her parents were trapped in a room that was quickly filling with water. She watched her parents drown and then blacked out.
When she woke up she was looking into the eyes of Grayson Steele, one of her Father’s friends whose daughter she had played with before the “tragedy”. She didn’t know how she escaped, or what really had happened, how she was even alive today, but she knew the pain of loss, and it was only fitting that the man who had lost both his wife and his daughter, and the young girl who had lost both her parents, cling to one another. Therefore soon after, Grayson became her guardian, and she stayed with him.
When she turned eleven she got her letter to attend an American school of witchcraft and wizardry. At first she thought it was some sort of cruel joke, that someone was playing with her, until Grayson set her aside and explained that what her parents believed in, indeed died for, was all real. She felt as if she had been kicked in the gut. She recalled the images of her parents drowning and hated that fate could do this to her. That if her parents had simply lived a few more years they would have known the truth. She lashed out at everything at that point, coldly determined to hate everything magical. She refused to attend the school, refused to accept magic as truth, and hating Grayson as well for his part in the betrayal, she ran away.
She spent two weeks on her own, though she knew she wasn’t really on her own. Grayson could easily find her, but was giving her the space she needed as he watched over her from the shadows. Then finally she came to a decision. She was going to learn magic. She was going to go to school. Apparently she was more like her parents than she thought, because despite the cruel twist of fate her being accepted into a magic school was, she was still curious about magic itself. That endless driving curiosity was born into her blood and she had to chase it down. Her parents would have wanted her to, and she wouldn’t let them down.
She attended the school getting top marks in most of her classes, which she attributed to a keen interest in learning more about the mysterious world that ultimately led to her parents death.
She was doing fine in school, but in the five years she attended she had made no lasting attachments therefore, when Grayson was given a chance to work on a case back in London, she didn’t put up a fuss about transferring to Hogwarts.
