Rochelle thought of a little Sully making a mess with spaghetti, and she started to giggle. Just the thought of it was just too funny. She calmed herself, but couldn't help but still grin. "I don't think I have any pictures of when I was little, but then again, I wouldn't know. I don't think I even have any more secrets, but if I think of any, I shall let you know."

Sully became serious. "I have a lot of secrets, Rochelle. And not all of them are good. In fact, some of them are pretty bad." He sighed heavily and looked down at the table for a minute, then back up at her face. He felt the nervous quivering in his stomach. "I... I never really told you just what I did to end up in the mental ward, did I?"

When Rochelle noticed his seriousness, her smile faded, and placed her fork on the table beside her spoon. She clasped her hands together, and rested her chin on them. "No," she said quietly shaking her head slowly.

Sully saw the smile slip from her face and felt even worse. He looked away, suddenly not able to face her. "When I say I went mad, I meant it," he said quietly. "I was mad at the world, mad at everyone and everything. One night, I was in a pub on a full moon... just hiding away and drinking. Nearby, a few of my friends came in, and they were drinking and having a laugh. They spotted me and were trying to cheer me up, but they were making jokes... about the full moon, and werewolves, and my shaggy appearance. One of 'em, a guy named Jack who was one of my best mates... he thought it's be funny to start howling like a wolf. And I.... I don't know, I just lost it. I picked up a chair and threw it at him. Before I knew it, we were all fighting and throwing things and pretty much destroying the place. They sent the magical law enforcement officers to come and break it up, but I still wouldn't stop. They had to drug me just to get me out of there. Later I found out that Jack... the one I started the fight with... He died from his injuries. I never meant to kill him, but.... I just was out of my head..." He buried his face in his hands. "I was lucky they didn't put me in Azkaban for what I did, but one of my other mates argued on my behalf, saying that I was having a breakdown and didn't know what I was doing... so they put me in the mental ward for a year.... I killed a man, and that's all I got for it..."

When Sully placed his head in his hands, Rochelle reached across the table and touched his arm. "It wasn't your fault. You were still grieving and something just clicked. It was an accident that he was killed, since you had no idea what you were doing. Trust me. Gretchen could have and almost killed someone when Buck was killed. She nearly lost it herself, but she came back around in time. I was there with her the whole time. Dawn and myself were there, always."

"But he was my friend... The other lads were telling me to stop, but I just kept fighting... they couldn't get through to me. I was just so wrapped up in myself and my pain I didn't even hear them..." He sniffled and wiped a tear away from his face. "I used to have nightmares about that night... sometimes still do. And the thing is, I wasn't better, not even when they let me out. I tried to channel my rage into killing werewolves, but that wasn't better, now was it? I didn't even care that they were still people..."

"But you didn't really know," said Rochelle. "You were just like everyone else. It's a common mistake. You didn't really think about it, and I can understand that. You shouldn't beat yourself over something that you couldn't control. We all lose control some time in our lives. It's just natural. I've lost control once that I remember."

"But I'm afraid of losing control like that again," Sully admitted. "I don't think I ever really got better until I met you... and I don't know what I would do if I lost you..." He took a breath. "And sometimes I'm afraid I'll lose control, even with you here. Like if Gretchen hurts Ashura... I don't think I could take it. And I'd hate for you to see me that way..."

"Gretchen will not hurt Ashura," said Rochelle, "as long as you hold up your end of the letter. As I've told you before, Gretchen is true to her word, so you won't have to worry about Gretchen hurting her. That I can promise." She gave him a faint smile. "Don't worry about losing yourself with me around. I'll do my best to make sure that doesn't happen." A thought crossed her mind and she looked at Sully with a serious face. "I need you to promise me something right now. In the future, on full moons, you won't be scared of me, and if I lose control and can't control myself at all, that you will shoot me with whatever that stuff is to make you sleep. You will see a huge difference between the two, so you'll know when it happens, if it does at all." Rochelle gave a sigh. "I'm more scared of me losing it on you, than you losing it on me."

Sully nodded seriously. "We'll figure something out for where you can go on the full moons. Maybe... maybe when this whole thing with Gretchen is over with, we'll be able to stay in Hogsmeade, and you can go with Zander's pack. But if I see you on the full moon and it looks like you're losing control, I will use the tranquilizer gun. I would hate to have to use it on you... but sometimes I suppose there's no other choice. But I'll never kill again."

Rochelle nodded and gave a smile. "Thank you," replied Rochelle. "Everything is going to work itself out some how or another. It always seems that it does. On full moons, I'll just head for the woods, for the time being, but we'll just worry about that when the time comes."

Sully smiled back at her. "When you say it, I can actually believe it," he said. "After all the things that happened to me, I became pretty jaded. It seemed like only bad things every happened, and I learned to always expect things to go wrong. But when I met you, well, things finally changed for the better." He reached across the table and kissed her hand.

"Of course if you except things for the worse, then that's how they're going to be. Like my brother told me once it's better to think things for the best and to be let down, than to think things for the worst and have them do so," said Rochelle. "That's how I've looked at things. Sure, not everything has turned out for the best in some cases, but most of them have."

"We're opposites in so many ways," Sully said. "I think that's why we go so well together. You see, I've always expected the worst, because if I let myself hope for the best I was always disappointed. But if I was expecting the worst, at least I'd be prepared when it happened." He laughed. "I think from now on, though, I'm just going to take things as they come."

Rochelle smiled once again. "I guess that's a good thing then. I've learned how to do that when I met you. I never did know what to expect. Just like I don't know what to expect from what's about to happen. I'll just do as before and do what feels right."

"Yeah, that sounds like the best idea," Sully said. He smiled at her and went back to eating his lasagna. He didn't want her to know, but he was still worried about what was going to happen with Gretchen. He was so used to expecting the bad that he couldn't see any other way for it to end. But if he was going to die, then he was going to spend every possible minute with Rochelle, letting her know how much she meant to him.

Rochelle tilted her head slightly as Sully returned to his lasagna. She could tell that something was wrong, but she felt like she shouldn't press it, he would tell her if he wanted to. She returned her attention to spaghetti noodles. After a few more bites, she was getting slightly better at it. As she ate, she began to think about what could happen. What if Gretchen overpowered him, while she couldn't do anything about it? What if she killed him? She didn't know what she would do if that would happen. She would probably go insane and just lose all control that she had. Rochelle tried to push the bad thoughts from her head as she ate.

Sully ate a little more of his lasagna, then looked up at her as she continued to work with the spaghetti. "You're getting better with that. Would you like to try a little of my lasagna? Just to see if you would like it?"

Rochelle finally glanced up, feeling glad that she was beginning to accomplished something new. She gave Sully a soft smile. "I guess I could try it."

Sully smiled back. He put a little bit of lasagna on his fork and reached across the table with it. "Here you go," he said. "Take a bite and let me know what you think."
